Given that I was using Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2013 with MX blues, of course it is better, but dont take my word for it as I dont have other boards to compare with. I want to change the switches and add foam in between plate and pcb. Also relubing springs because bag lubing is inconsistent, some keys got the pik pik sound.  ranting.gif   I bought brass plate + weight, went full ham.

What is your grail full size board?
*
Yes the foam is an awesome mod. After experiencing it, I wouldn't want to build a keyboard without it.

Interesting, I don't have any issues with my current board which is has bag lubed springs. Of course, I didn't have any pinging in the first place.

Any full aluminum full size with USB C and programmable PCB would be acceptable to me at this point....maybe if they re-ran TX108SE. Or if HEX.6C ran a non-southpaw version. Or F1oodgate. Whatever, just gimme my dam fullsize. Lol.

guys anyone here is using Steelseries APEX pro? worth buying for a keyboard lover?

The price tag is the craziest so far

mkb users that have sufficient know-how will not go for commercial boards anymore. it's really easier for them to get parts that they want, tune, and build one themselves.

with the right basic tools, building customs is actually a relatively painless experience.
*
Agreed with horns, except for the fact that you'd be hard pressed to find full size customs.

I'm using an IKBC F108 since it is relatively cheaper, but if I'm looking to spend that kind of money on a prebuilt(I'm not), I would go for the full aluminium IKBC MF108 v3 instead of the Steelseries which has a plastic bottom case.

Edit: Oh and if you think Steelseries prices are crazy, check out high end custom kits like from Keycult.

I have the soldering kit actually and was attempting to change the switch out of my roccat previously. Somehow the solder just wont melt even changing to new solder pen tip  and bought the suction pen as well ._."
*
Factory made boards use lead free solder for environmental reasons. They have a higher melting point.

Adding some leaded solder to the joint can help.

Nice! Did you break them in or used them just like that? How do they feel?

Nah I didn't break them in, I just made sure I lubed them properly and it feels and sound great. Really smooth. It's also my first custom keyboard. Was originally going to put Invyr Pandas on them but after reading about the review on the final product, I cancelled my pre-order I made since June at the last minute. I'm totally fine with linear or tactile switches really.
*
Oh OK. Many NK cream posts I read say it is best to break them in for a while, then only lube. Not everyone agrees though.

Practical investment doesn't mean that you have to DIY it lah. Anyway, people who DIY their own stuff usually have the passion and they make it as a long time hobby. For me, I don't want to buy plenty of tools only to use them once, cause i know i don't have the passion nor patience for it. So buy one MKB out of the box it is! biggrin.gif Thanks for the recommendations! Gonna check it out!
*
If you never encounter an enthusiast's custom tuned keyboard, you could buy anything other than "budget" brands and be perfectly happy with it. Ignorance is bliss as they say.

prices also must be expensive.
Do you actually use your keyboard at work or what? I spent 9 ~ 10 hours at work and only use keyboard mostly also for some minor gaming at night. customized seems very far fetched.
But i have been using logitech g413, im ok with it. Just curious about other mechanical mechanic keyboards.
*
Yes actually. My tuned MKB is at my desk in the office most of the time. I bring it home on the weekend if I have some modification in mind. Haven't had a gaming PC at home for more than 7 years now.

oh no wonder.
Because i checked Shopee, the brands that was named just now - Leopold and etc, you need at least RM500 to even get one. That's actually a lot of money for something you don't use much unless you are enthusiast.

I would think that those people who work in fields that require so much typing would enjoy it a lot.
*
Depends on your priorities. I don't mind dropping RM1k+ each on multiple pairs of leather shoes for the office, because I know I will use each pair every single week. But ask me to spend RM300+ on just a single pair of casual shoes for the weekend and I will usually balk.

But I know some people who will use the same pair of Bata 5 days a week and Yeezys 2 days on the weekend. unsure.gif rolleyes.gif

nope. it's a commercial board. everything is already included in the package. however, you can still diy for both top plate + pcb, and pcb + bottom housing.

Hi Guys,

Anyone can help me with this? Where can I get brown cherry mx switch with white led? I tried search lazada but doesn't seems to have it.

Its a Cooler Master Masterkeys Pro L White Led Keyboard.
*
They're not sold together. Cherry doesn't make LEDs AFAIK. If the LED is working fine, all you need to to fix the switch. Cleaning and lubing it might fix your problem.

partially, especially the area between top plate and pcb. previously quovadis123 posted the details of a disassembled fc750r, https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=94630141

that's why the custom foam mod by ourselves are actually much more complete than leopold's.

i will start preparing for my next reference build soon, using leopold's sp-star grey, kelowna switch films, and 63.5g springs from everglide in terms of switches. sp-star grey is a good alternative to cherry mx linear.
*
Oh ok. Yes, my own foam mod was much more complete.

kbdfans is a new vendor of their own switch films.

1. tx, https://txkeyboard.com/ (2 types of thickness, the usual 0.15mm and the new 0.125mm)
2. kebo, https://kebo.store/products/switch-films
3. deskey, https://deskeys.io/
4. thicc, https://maartenwut.com/product/thicc-films/
5. kelowna, https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=620073366941 (thickness: its double-layer is 0.15mm)
6. kbdfans, https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=627414114157 (thickness: 0.15mm)

the cheapest is from kelowna, and it's not bad.

Anyone using IKBC keyboards? Are they worth the money? Looking for a durable keyboard that can last 3 years or more.

Not interested in RGB, just want a good reasonable solid keyboard.
*
Got a CD108 in November but killed it with over eager modding.

Have been using a F108 as my daily driver since April. First as WFH and now in the office. Heavily modded and super happy with it.

But even out of the box it is already nice. There are better more expensive boards out there, but I feel that the basic CD108 or CD87 is good value for money.

Thanks for the feedback. There are always better ones but out of my budget.

One thing though, if you use in office, which switches you're using? Is MX Brown ok or too noisy? I prefer to have some feedback rather than red. Otherwise, seems like no difference from normal membrane keyboard.

Tq!
*
Cherry MX Browns and Reds should have no difference in terms of sound if you are bottoming out. Mine is far from stock, but stock IKBC are no louder than your average membrane.

this is the latest edition of epbt double-shot abs, black gold (黑金), https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=629464287944

it's a mid-tier set imo; cherry profile; 153 keys, which supports 2u-left shift/1u-right shift; double-shot abs (hence with higher-pitch bottom-out sound); bottom thickness is 1.1mm.

Guys, I decided I have to quit this hobby unfortunately. And I have 2 keyboards to let go:

1. Durgod K320
2. Leopold FC980M

Feel free to PM me if interested to find out more.
I have a great time learning, not sure I will be back for more in future. Nevertheless Thank you .
*
Moratorium over....no money. Otherwise I'd be interested in one or even both.

Quick Q. Do you find the quality of both comparable? Or is the Leopold noticeably better than the Durgod?
