Anyone here used both KAT and SA profiles before? How do you find typing on it? Especially the rather extreme profile on the F Row.

I'm very comfortable with KAT, but there's an SA colourway that I really really like.

sa profile is too tall for me. they do look nice, but they're not comfortable.

i stick to cherry profile mainly (it's the most comfortable for me), and few others (step sculpture 2, oem, osa, mda).

i haven't tried kat yet.

Drop price includes Holy Panda switches, BoW keycaps and matching wristrest. Not buying it anyway. I jut thought it was a super cool idea. Everything in gold and transparent plastic.

That keyboard and cable and keycaps really suits man. Very retro.

you can get the set with your preferred colorway, and use it as benchmark haha

besides look, they do have a different sound profile. to me the most important thing is typing feel, especially comfort. i'm not willing to sacrifice this for sound haha

Got myself some small child kits of Domikey SA and Domikey Cherry.

I must say I'm very disappointed in Domikey SA. Plastic feels flimsy compared to KAT. It came in a bag instead of a tray, and there were a significant amount of scratches. And some of the stems holes were a bit warped until it couldn't fit onto my stabs! I was feeling sad before that this small set didn't get to me in time for me to take advantage of 9.9 deals (the set I was looking at went from RM400+ to RM600+ after 9.9), but now I'm glad I waited.

Domikey Cherry, I got a child kit of the Single Chip triple shot you posted a while back. Impressive quality. Nice sharp legends. Felt good to the touch. I still prefer KAT though. KAT both feels and sounds nice, so it has the upper hand there. Just the dye-sub lets it down sometimes (smearing).

Oh and and although the Domikey Cherry was also shipped in a bag, there were no scratches like the SA, so maybe the SA were scratched in production? IDK

Well at least I can say I tried. I'm sticking with KAT. No regrets. No What Ifs.

Trying out PE foam this time. Still a WIP. I find that the laser shrinks the foam when cutting, possibly at different rates lengthwise and widthwise.

Thanks. They're C3 Equalz stabs V2 in purple.

Finalized the foam layer.

Getting a bit annoyed with the build sequence here. I haven't even tested the PCB yet. All because of the placement of the microcontroller. I need to solder 2 switches first before soldering the microcontroller. Which means lubing first. Also means I need to finalize the plate and foam first. Before finalizing the plate, I need to peel off the paper on the plate. Before I peel it off, I need to finish sanding the edges first. Aiyo so many dependencies before I can test the bloody PCB. If in the end the PCB is not working I will rage man.

Looks good. Which numpad kit is this anyway? (I know the case was self-designed, but, does that mean the PCB kit too?)

Thanks. The PCB is the NUM by 2L1P (tulip). It was a small GB and I got an extra PCB. There's a V2 coming up with an optional encoder on the top right key.

All done! So nice to have a (mostly) matching set. Just wish that the NUM had per key LED for a complete match.

Anyone here has used:
epbt PBT Cherry keycaps
Aliexpress PBT Cherry keycaps

Assuming a similar thickness, is the sound and feel very similar?

The reason I'm asking is there are a few upcoming epbt GBs that I'm interested in and I'm just wondering if getting a cheap set would give me a good idea of what it would sound and feel like.

Or does simply vary a lot from manufacturer to manufacturer?

Akko has pretty solid keycaps for sale at an affordable price. I'm rocking the Akko Midnight on one of mine.

Or you could buy random china clones for cheaper but those are dubious at best.

I was watching their price for 11.11, it actually went UP.

My budget is less than 350. I check out Rebel60 is a 60% layout.
I need pg up/dn, home and end key. So probably 75%, 80% or tkl.

Dont care about about rgb. If got would be bonus. But need at least backlight.

Can be wired or wireless. But if wired need to be detachable.

Another keyboard in my radar is Keychron C1.

Check out the TM680 if you don't need F row. Program the rotary encoder for page up/down.

Hmm ok. I saw "Knob function customization" in Aliexpress. I don't own the board myself, so I can't confirm what it can or can't do.

Currently looking at:

Am i right that RK84 doesnt have a full size keyboard?

Or do share if any other model that i can look at.
