Ugh if kenot use fractional shares on the whitelabels then no point loh. I was considering opening an IKBR account to park my long term funds in US stocks. Even took half a day off to reopen my CIMB account after all of them went dormant.

Slow and steady. Once you have usd200k (margin of safety in case market drop by 50%) then you transfer over to pure IB. That's what I am doing anyway. Slowly collecting until reach Usd200k then make the switch.

Maybank sg account. But you will need Maybank Malaysia account to open a sg bank account. A condition by Maybank sg.

But if you opened with Maybank, sgd500will be lock inside Maybank sg. If you have less than sgd600 inside, Maybank sg will charge you sgd2.00/month.

err... does anyone got both the tda and ibkr??

thinking of the fund transfer flow like this:
[sg bank] <fast> [ibkr] <ach> [tda]

if free to transfer between ibkr and tda, then this should be the low cost approach

TDA zero commissions for ETFs?

If want to buy and hold ETFs, TDA is better? So going through his method will avoid the $25 bank clearance fee?

Currently reading the IB thread.

But I'm curious whether this method will work to avoid the $25 fee?

tda... zero commissions on stocks and etfs... $25 withdrawal fee

if you wire money from a malaysian bank, it must go through a swift intermediary bank and will be charged $25 clearance fee

if you trade a lot... tda may be better if ibkr trading fees > tda bank clearance and withdrawal fee

if not, you are probably better going with tradestation global, tiger brokers, etc.

Don't waste time trying to go through so manny hoops. Pick one.

Either you suck up to TD and don't withdraw so much.
Or go the IBKR way.

That is the US banking system and less to do with TD which has helped contribute to the rise of Neobanks.

Domestic and foreign wire transfer fees are charged by most banks and are usually only waived if you are a priority customer or some banks waive it automatically for everyone.

This might be helpful for you and do heed the advice of others that have helped you.

Thank you. Still got many pages of the DIY S&P 500 and IBKR threads to read. And yes, I found that blog on those threads too. Very good blog.

Dear Sifus

Tumpang my question here. Have you done any transfer to TD Ameritrade via CIMB recently?
I tried online foreign transfer. It got rejected for 3 times.
Wondering whether you face any issue with recent transfer
