As I passed karak a lot, my kompressor kong fast on year 6th. Seems like not logical, but a few car aircond shop told me the same. Small cc, long distance, a bit fast cruising speed, all contribute to lifespan of compressor since it put a lot of stress on compressor.

Denso still provide servicing? I read last time they stop providing air cond servicing already. Only parts. Or maybe that is only applicable to their Glenmarie branch.

Not so often lah. Minimum 2x a year for balik kampung (to kelantan) + 3/4 business trip to east coast.

But I always travel to penang or johor at least once a month.

What car I owned?. Honda city. Maybe 1500cc not enough to climb fast2 karak without put a lot of stress on car component. Btw, that is only major problem with city.

My accord on the other hand 8 years, compressor still running fine, but hydraulic power steering is culprit. Way more expensive than compressor. If got choice, better compressor kaput than power steering kaput.

Changed radiator, condenser and fan

Satria mileage now is 600k

if my old bm, lasted 10yrs!!
honda, almost 8yrs... still ok, but ada bunyi bearing sikit.

Car kaput very fast, all my cars 2-3 years only

How do you know compressor? Sometimes gas leak at valve only. They dont like cheap solution, small profit.

Maybe smaller CC car running at higher RPM stressing the compressor more than higher CC car.

I thought compressor is one the most expensive component in the car bar the engine and gearbox. Now I’m worried since you mentioned the power steering since my brother in laws car need to change its EPS at 11th year. Another 3 years to go..

You’re lucky. My wira SE kaput on 7th year at around 130k mileage.

What about mileage? Since you have so many cars I guess it spreads evenly across those cars?

No wonder so many lasted more than 10 years. Home aircond only rosak capacitor, seldom the compressor itself.

Gas full. Compressor not running/not pressurizing. I guess they would have diagnosed it before making any conclusion. 2 years back I changed cooling coil, they didn’t jumped into conclusion that compressor rosak that time, so I pretty much trust their honesty in doing their diagnosis.

Ok then. Almost connect for me, endup I buy whole gas tank refill at home when necessary. Tiny leak they say so I topup every 3 months save money also.

Eps is newer types of power steering and very durable one. Hydraulic is old types and many car manufacturer already move to eps. Hydraulic is very problematic. Even preve and suprima got problem because is hydraulic type. Eps can go more than 10years.

9 years almost into 10 years, on the variable displacement compressor of my ford focus. Never been serviced, never been regas, driven everyday like a mad man, almost 200k, still blowing ice cold.

My old car did not service air cond for 8 years.
And then kaput.
I purposely not allow the servicing because once the mechanic touch the tubing, it is more likely to crack/leak.

If you service the air cond periodically.
How much extension do you get?
Is the extension good enough to cover the cost of periodic maintenance?

In the end, things still need to be replaced.

8 years old accord should be the pondana model right? That one using hydraulic not EPS? My brother in law’s car was a 2004 corolla. Maybe I did assume it uses EPS not hydraulic, I’m not so sure now

According to the small sample here, it’s 50-50 luck to be able to survive beyond 10 years..
