According to the small sample here, it’s 50-50 luck to be able to survive beyond 10 years..

Lets see how long it will last, so far this ford haven't let me down, drive shaft / wheel bearing / alternator still the original haven't been replace before and still in good condition. Only change engine oil / dct oil / filter / power steering oil / shock absorber / lower arm.

I think there was a recommended schedule for servicing for every xxxxxkm interval, but it was never highlighted during the service.

Probably. But SC seldom repair magnetic clutch from what I read in the internet.

Mana ada like that brother. SC always give you back the faulty unit, unless when they change it for free during warranty period, at least that is the practice in Toyota SC Shah Alam.

My old car did not service air cond for 8 years.
And then kaput.
I purposely not allow the servicing because once the mechanic touch the tubing, it is more likely to crack/leak.

If you service the air cond periodically.
How much extension do you get?
Is the extension good enough to cover the cost of periodic maintenance?

In the end, things still need to be replaced.

Compressor service cost around 200. If you skip it, depends on your luck la. Can last 8 years, can also kaput within 5 years. Sometimes compressor still ok but cooling coil broke and leak because of it, will cost around 1k to fix everything.

It depends how is the service.

If cabut coil out to wash and refill gas, it will damage even faster than not service it at all.

I only sent my car to SC. I just let them do whatever preventive maintenance they recommended.
*
SC officially do not service a/c...they don't even have a specialist who do a/c servicing or repair

so the question is still, do u service your a/c religiously?
if u don't thn don't put your expectation too high when it fail because the owner fail to service it to prolong it's lifespan

20+ years used York aircon, was already used for 3-4 years before.

This year lots of leaking and creaking even after full service.
Had to suck it up bad and buy new unit, blower & compressor pair.

service center do not service a/c nor they have a special guy there that service/repair a/c
if they did, it would also reflect at your bill as well which u will never see laugh.gif

the owner needs to take care of it themselves

Eps is newer types of power steering and very durable one. Hydraulic is old types and many car manufacturer already move to eps. Hydraulic is very problematic. Even preve and suprima got problem because is hydraulic type. Eps can go more than 10years.
*
many EPS especially p2's EPS have problem within the 1st few years
and EPS being electronic, that itself is a problem when u have problem with electricity...it's gonna jam and stop working
whereas hydraulic will not be interfere by electricity because it's not electronic...so even if the engine died or battery died, it can still turn perfectly

That what I worried.

I never service car air cond.
The moment they cabit everything, sure got problem later on.

The question all this maintenance might not give that much of extra year compared to No-Service.
