Gabriel03 Malaysians can only FPX into MYR wise balance, and then use that to pay RM13.70 for the wise debit card.

Alternatively, if you just signed up only, still got grace period to enter Wise Referral code to get Wise debit card for free

Hi, haven't used wise in a bit, now when I try to transfer 30k MYR (the max) to GBP it tells me "The most you can add is 3,559.28 GBP as you can't hold more than 20,000 MYR."

So is the limit effectively 20k per transaction (and 30k per day)? Definitely was able to transfer 30k per transaction and day before...

you can deposit more in and out, as Wise doesn't control how much can come in, yet... but once it's in you got 2 days to clear it out before they suspend your account due to excess deposits.

How to deposit more in? 'Add money' limits to 20k.

but do note that bank transfer + currency conversion is typically more expensive than conversion from wise balance

you're paying more for the convenience

Ah, so I need to get my account details from WISE, transfer to that account number at JP Morgan Chase, and then can exceed 20k...

So for my experiment today 30k transfer, the fees were RM171++ for using FPX (20k+10k) but only RM167++ for doing the free bank transfer to JP Morgan Chase account and then transferring to GBP using balance. Worth it, because not more hassle, still need to do two transfers (either 20k+10k or transfer from bank and then transfer from WISE).

Thanks all.

Thanks very much. Will explore CIMB as well.

i hv just started working in SG. Everyone keep on saying that CIMB SG provides the best rate to transfer from SGD to MYR.

I tried to compare between Wise, Instarem and CIMB. Below 400 SGD, CIMB wins. Higher than 400 SGD, Wise offers the better rate.

Do you experience it too?

Gabriel03 you take a screenshot of both rates? make sure during office hours. anyway CIMB sg can refund the difference if it's really more expensive

No single provider consistently offers the best or worst rates. Exchange rates fluctuate, and sometimes even a provider with generally poorer rates can offer a better deal at certain times.

ya but not when CIMB is offering the best rate and even offer to pay for the difference. Anyway, CIMB is cheaper during office hours. I have been checking after work when I find wise is cheaper.

Hi All..

I have a situation. I am heading to NZ soon and I need to transfer my funds from MOOMOO SG (in USD) to WISE (NZD).

What would be the path for cheapest transaction cost and exchange?

I am thinking of MOOMOO SG (USD) change to SGD, then to WISE (SGD) and change to NZD once in WISE?

Any better way? Thanks

lctw87 wise can only directly deposit into moomoo. You cannot directly withdraw from Moomoo to Wise.

Do you have a local sg bank acct?

you can also try to withdraw your USD (in moomoo SG)
  • to a NZ bank acct (i don't know what fees are involved)
  • to a sg DBS multi-currency acct (i don't know if you're able to open this)
  • to the partner bank that's tied to your Wise USD balance acct (I think wise will deduct a fee), and then convert from USD to NZD

Yup..I am Malaysian but I do have CIMB SG acct.

Does it mean

1. Moomoo SG (USD) convert to SGD in Moomoo SG itself
2. From Moomoo SG (SGD) transfer to CIMB SG (SGD)
3. From CIMB SG (SGD) to WISE (SGD)
4. Lastly WISE (SGD) to WISE (NZD).

Am i rite?

Is this the best pathway that I can do?
