It used to be that there is only 1 MD in a bank, and that is the CEO. But title inflation is real. Nowadays individual department heads can even assign their sales persons Director and MD titles, and the title is not controlled at all.

I am normally guided by this filter. The banker I am meeting, would he/she be a MD and still trying to push home mortgage or unit trust to me? I mean, if I am a large multi millionaire to billionaire, that is a different story. Even if I have 100 million ringgit, CEO of CIMB or OCBC or HSBC will not see me to push for credit card right?

In most industries, other than Banking, VP (heck even AVP) is big deal, like a VP in Google or Apple is huge role, overseeing huge functions
