Not sure about that. If you see many, then most probably it’s just a syok sendiri title to make their employees happy.

Directors, I only know BoD.

I see many Heads/Directors/SVPs drive godcar, so surely not BoD

maybe they are frugal.. hmm.gif

bcos usually in banks, Head of X, SVP and above, Director

are already quite decent level, with a fairly large team under them

But, VP and below, confirm not. just kuli

This wasn't Malaysian practice in the past, the way you described it I would believe it is just empty title they follow like US.
You just need 5 year plus experience or 3 year plus MBA, like I said there is a few thousands Vice President of JP Morgan running around, none of them are big shots.
*
Even if they dont use the murican title convention of VP, there are still many running around with titles like manager, heads, and directors.

I wonder what they really do as compared to a junior exec

The term "executive" usually means that they can make decisions on whatever limited their degree is, as compared to lower employees who are doing as told, junior executive term is vague as in between can make decision vs follow level.
But like I say, most of it is empty title only, useless and confusing; just nice when introducing yourself.
In Japan, things are direct and literal - Shacho - Boss, Bucho - Department chief, Kacho - Section chief, Shunin - unit head.

It is still very good nonetheless to make more than 5 figures before 30.
Sounded nicer than say I made more than 20k a month before 30.

Is there a different between AM from Maybank (number 1 bank) vs AM from smaller bank like Affin or Alliance Bank)?

in terms of salary and in terms of prestige (for example... if you are an AM from Maybank.. you are actually equivalent to Affin's Manager..)

We ususally measure by how many levels below CEO. As an illustration

CEO = President
CEO - 1 = EVP (COO, CFO, CRO)
CEO - 2 = SVP (Heads of dept, e.g. Treasury, Relationship Banking, etc)
CEO - 3 = VP (Division or Team leads)
CEO - 4 = AVP (Mostly assistant managerial roles)

Depends on banks, there are a few thousands VP in JP Morgan, most are just title only.
Analyst (0-2 years)
Associate (2-5 years or 0-3 years with an MBA)
VP (5+ years or 3+ with an MBA)
*
At least the associates and VPs in JP are paid more than triple than the same counterpart of say, Kenanga...
