Gonna be renewing my car insurance soon...compared some companies, it seemed like Etiqa macam not bad eh


From Etiqa website, Takaful as "Cash back when you make no claims". How is this different from conventional NCB?

all the car insurance company also provide 10% additional discount if u self renew on9.
if u use 3rd party agent for u, that 10% bcoms their fees.

if after 1 year...no claim been made...they will rebate back few amount of money to you..(depend on company profit)

This is wrong. The profit distribution is on top of 10% rebate for direct online purchase.

I think this is part of the "liberalisation" changes done last year. Some companies such as AXA are using telematics to reward good driving behavior.

i heard etiqa must send to their panel workshop only if towing, u wan send to your preferred workshop they charge u rm50.

Last year I had to tow my car didn't have such rule, is it a new thing?

err, 10% rebate is for direct online purchase. If thru agent, agent get that 10%. Its a BNM requirement.

ya, but i'm curious if the "surplus" has anything to do with NCB. Are they the same? cuz you know how takaful products got their own specific financial terms to differentiate themselves from conventional products.

Old car premium very cheap once accident pay 100x more premium collected from you. Insurance company always lose money covering old cars.

Sorry out of topic. Etiqa takaful memang don't put additional drivers name on it's ecert meh? Already asked the customer service chat they say don't have such thing. So weird. First time using etiqa.

Its a rebate. U got the chance to earn the rebate if :-

U never made any claim for the whole insurance period
If the takaful company earns profit
If ur car is not a company registered vehicle

Keywords "chances" to win rebate. Kalau u layak dapat rebate, idk how many % u dapat lah. But my experience, couple of years ago I dapat dalam rm8 mcm tu lah. My ncd was 55%

nowadays some car insurance hav incentive for u to drive less or more carefully.
ie, some car insurance required u to install their tracking device with gyro.
it knows when u speeding, cornering at high speed.
& will deduct your discount based on how careful u drive.

some car insurance, will giv u extra discount if your mileage dont go over x KM

U get cash rm into your bank account. Around 0.1% upon no claims during your insured period. Takaful invest the money and gives u hibah from the investment if no claim.

7years i use Etiqa never claim before, just received accumulated RM50 over the years. lol

Etiqa among the best and most reliable car insurer.

Easy to renew too. Either u call their CS hotline or direct go to their renewal website.

Even ur car broke down anytime can call their emergency hotline for free towing service.

Most workshop when u mentioned etiqa as ur insurer will gladly accept your car for fixing.

As far as I know, all insurances have appointed authorized workshops. Perhaps will not pay if you go to unauthorized one

u can opt in, but need to install their telemetry device at their panel workshop, FOC.

it's a bit pain in the ass though.
u go a bit over speed limit, minus point.
u corner fast a bit, minus point again.

good thing is u'll hav a free tracker which u can see your car gps location from your app.

If you always fast speed,just no discount.
It will not become expensive right?


I mean is let said etiqa sell you rm500,axa sell you rm500

But if you follow rules and good driving,maybe can get rm50 or rm100 discount,but if you fast drive,next year still rm500 premium for axa?

yes, default discount for good driving, lesser & lesser discount if drive badly.

i supposed, u can locate your car via GPS from anywhere as long as in m'sia?
the tracking device basically comes wit a sim card & GPS, & sends your driving telemetry bck to axa.

1 thing need to take note though, it's wired to the car battery, so more or less will drain your car battery faster.
& of your battery kong, or just unplugged to replace battery, axa will sms/call u to alert u.

Etiqa Takaful missed out on my surplus sharing for last year. Need to ask CS then only they give me.

But it's so little. Less than RM10. I wonder why. I insured around 700 tho.

How do you usually get the "surplus"? I remember once I received email from them asking for my banking account then I never received any email thereafter!

Hi, any of you guys running on the ‘Drive less save more’ (add-on) plan? Wonder how frequent they need you to upload the odo pics? Kind of bothersome if need to upload every week or so.

my advise. do not buy any insurance from MYEG portal. Bloody useless website. When payment failure, there is no tracking & tracing in their website portal. Account work like turtle.

Did anyone get Etiqa insurance with "Drive Less Save More" add-on?

Do they payout lump-sum after 1 year, or they pay out as and when you upload your odometer? How frequently they pay?

They only pay back when you submit, up to your discipline on when you want to submit, i usually do mine every quarter.

Got about RM60 rebate total so far. It’s a decent add-on without any costs

Understood. Say you submit at the end of every quarter (30 June), how many days before you get the money? Is it a form of credit, or is it cash that in banked into your account or how? Is the process seamless?

They will bank it in to the account you provide. I get the money within a few days after sumbmission.
The process is really simple, just fill in the mileage, take 2 pics within app. That's it.
Only hard part is remembering to do it 😂. I set my Google calendar to remind me every month.

Planning to renew under Maybank2U. Anyone who utilized the key care cover before? Thinking whether i should add on, wondering if the original alarm spoil will the replacement be covered under key care cover or just the key. Etiqa Chat agent told me check with Maybank2U careline as it is specific to Maybank2U, Maybank2U careline told me check with Etiqa as insurance is underwritten by Etiqa..

My concern is Key Care Cover - replace alarm system or just the key. Driving 15 yr old car with original alarm system

NCB: takaful and conventional have these.

cash back if no claim: takaful only.

takaful business is based on pool of risk where the company act as an operator.
operator already took a portion of your contribution (the payment u made) to manage the pool of risk.
If in the end of the period, you pool has less claim and make surplus (operator may use the money to invest) they will return back to participants loh (those didnt make any claim)


for conventional, all the money u paid, belong to company. thats it.

They always provide free towing when im stranded on my old saga blm car.

Not sure the fineprint condition though.

Even when accidents any workshop would gladly repair ur car if ur insured by etiqa. They tell me etiqa pay quite fast their claims.

Ar the beginning of the insurance I submitted the odometer via the app, now I should regularly update? How often? I thought only after one year.
