I think much will depend on the pricing. If it's priced at about 1400-1500, you'll find a lot of alternatives out there.
Yes, app optimisation is important too. That's how Apple gets away with their "smoothness" even with 60hz display. iOS apps are just better optimised.

That means if the apps for Android are better optimised, then we can enjoy the smoothness experience even with 60Hz display also?
Is it possible?
Among all the UI/OS for Android that I tested on the lower midrange phones, like SAMSUNG Galaxy A20s, HUAWEI Y9 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, the one that can give smooth performance no matter under what conditions is MIUI.
Yes, tested on 90hz game....not much different.....only is i m trying to share is when i enable 90hz it is like Samsung phone enable screen sensitivity......i can feel the screen response more sensitive.
Human eyes hard to different refresh rate.
I also got Samsung A30, A50, A70, Xiaomi MiMax2 and Mimax3, Realme XT.......although is 60hz screen and the screen sentivity are very good. Not like Realme 5s.....screen response slow
