Leg room is plentiful, more if not same as MAS economy.

If you don't mind staying a night in Manila, its actually a very good deal if you manage to get its tickets.

Airport relatively close to Pasay (Mall of Asia, Newport casinos etc).

But do note that the airport terminal is not walkable to newport, need to take grab.
For PAL, I had WiFi free onboard, wasn't fast, but enough to text.

Right now Vietnam Airlines and Philippines Airlines have been selling seats for cheap for full service airlines, but between PAL and VNA, I prefer PAL.

No delays from them so far (small 5 - 10 minutes adjustments few weeks before flight), but VNA has been readjusting time by the hours (1-3 hours adjustments to original flight time).

Thanks for sharing. Next time will have other options when looking for flight biggrin.gif

for those looking for cheaper fares to Japan and don't mind few transits, you might want to consider Scoot also

Their flights with layover in Taiwan usually is cheaper than their direct flights

Another one to consider is Vietjet with layover in Vietnam
*
never take scoot b4 but heard a lot of horror stories, like the service is worse than airasia and meal/drink is bloody expensive since they use sgd

hey all, going to japan anyone know if it's better to use the currency exchange or ATM at the japan airports or exchange locally in malaysia?
I'm going to taiwan first then from there to Japan, so i dont want to bring along so much JPY from Malaysia.
*
wise much cheaper compare to local money changer. sure wise do charge u some fees but in the end wise win hands down by a lot. the convenience of just withdraw cash at any 7-11 atm or use the card like that, not to mentioned when u see jpy low you can straight away change myr to jpy on wise real time.
this year b4 i went to japan i stupid go money changer exchange 0.33, when wise is only 0.31 doh.gif learnt my lesson then

Is the maxis roaming in Japan for their rm89 good enuff than renting a mobile wifi?
*
yes gud enugh. 2gb per day fast and unlimited data slow (i hit b4, really unusable). my use case 1 day i use around 1.5gb even with a lot of social media browsing.

would Metro only be an inconvenience? just wondering.

actually what's the difference between all these different train stations? is it like our lrt/mrt putra ampang/putrajaya line that goes to different places? or they all basically reach the same places just different train/price.

i found it at klook: Tokyo Metro Pass 3 days Unlimited
*
metro is fine and reach anywhere within tokyo, its just some places will need to walk further compared to jr. but for some places may need to topup when u exit the station, for example the setagaya area. when exit the station just show the exit counter you have this metro card, and the staff will ask you to pay the remaining fees

any major station can redeem the ticket, just scan the qr code. there will be one very big machine specially to redeem the ticket

i bought around rm900 on last oct and nov tongue.gif

Hi Everyone,

Airasia flight to Haneda all around 10.40pm,
any suggestions / cheap options stay in airport till next morning?

saw there's airport lounge can I pay and enter it? or any recommendations?
*
my bro stay b4 at mystay hotel at around rm300 (2 ppl) which is 7-8 min from the airport, there is a free shuttle bus that will take you from the bus terminal to the hotel. But if first timer to haneda then maybe will get loss like my bro and miss his final hour bus and in the end have to take taxi. a quick search at agoda shows that all hotel near the airport are around the same price as well.

also beware even if 10.40 arrive, still have to clear custom and immigration. lucky can within 15 - 30 min clear, there are times when too many ppl can take up to an hour or more.

my suggestion would be save money and just stay at the airport till 5am and wait for the monorail to operate. even if u book hotel u not gonna stay long as well, most hotel checkout would be at 9-11am. unless u are willing to book 2 day at the hotel.

hi Both,

thanks for your reply,
I guess either have to get morning flight (arrival) or just sleep inside airport for a night.
is that anywhere inside Haneda airport can sleep? will the guard come disturb or shooing me away?
*
nope, free to sleep anywhere as long theres a chair. some ppl using multiple chair to sleep as well. dont sit near the elevator area, the elevator will keep making warning noise to watch ur step and its annoying to hear that every 5-10 min lol. 4th and 5th floor the lights darker a bit, a lot of ppl sleep there also. 2nd floor and 3rd floor a bit noisy, since its arrival and departure.

see if u can catch the train b4 12am or not, if able then can try to find a capsule hotel or internet cafe to rest. if have iphone then can top up suica, no need to lineup and buy train ticket.

What does this mean? Visitor now need to declare in web instead of manual white card?
*
It’s easier to do in web, fill up everything and just show the qr code to the immigration and customs officer.

Can do manual white card also, but it is encouraged to use the qr code to expedite the process while going through immi and custom.

Hey guys, wanna check with you.

I am planning to travel Osaka - Kyoto - Tokyo.

Not getting the JRail pass.

But on the region itself, let's say Osaka - should i get those day pass for an unlimited usage of public transports? Also, I don't plan to take so much cash on me. for the SUICA card, is it very convenient to reload? It's a prepaid card right? Can MY CC be used to reload credit into the SUICA card? SUICA is also usable for public transport like our TnG? Or use to purchase tickets?

Thanks! This is my first time, appreciate if anyone can offer some valuable insights and tips! Thanks!
*
Better calculate and plan b4 purchasing the unlimited usage pass. For example the Tokyo metro 1/2/3 day pass, if use a lot of the subway throughout the trip then definitely worth it. Another example is I used to stay near the Tokyo metro, from to and back to my place ard the prices of 1 day pass if I used suica instead of the pass. In this case of course it’s a no brainer for me to purchase the pass. But if you stay near jr station, then you will have no choice but to use suica. Jr and Tokyo metro are 2 different thing, Tokyo metro day pass cannot be used on JR and vice versa.

The city you are visiting definitely can use IC card to purchase things, but ultimately Japan is still a very based cash society. Cash is king over there, some places and vending machine still don’t accept suica. Suica is exactly like tng. But if you plan to reload suica on your iPhone, for some reason they only accept Mastercard, all Visa card will get declined. Cc Mastercard can be reload to suica on iPhone but the rate is quite high. Iirc I used my brother maybank to reload 1000 yen almost rm 40+.

What I did was just reload 1000 yen on my phone to activate the card, and when I reach there I only top up more at the 7/11 atm.

Question about SUICA card, do i need to buy a card/serial number to add on to my Apple Wallet? Or I can actually do so before even departing/landing at Japan? I read somewhere online that I can get a SUICA immediately in my Apple Wallet already regardless of where I am right now.

Question on Wifi - do you all use Sim Card or rent a pocket wifi? I just realise that the Japan Sim card is quite expensive too.
Anyone tried this seller before? Any recommendations are welcome!

if you use digi, maxis or celcom, the roaming plan is actually quite cheap and worth. Data is also generous.

Okie. So I can just do it directly from apple wallet right? Cause there’s a shortage of physical suica card now.
Leanne check! Do you know roughly how much GB do you use per day especially if I’m going to use google map a lot?
It’s about 8GB for 10 days, do you think that’s enough? I dont think I need to browse the internet, mainly for research and google mapping all the time for directions. Haha. I guess I can save some of the maps.
*
should be enugh, i use around 1-2gb per day when im there, but i also stream a lot of songs, google mapping and watch a lot of social media videos while on train
