my bro stay b4 at mystay hotel at around rm300 (2 ppl) which is 7-8 min from the airport, there is a free shuttle bus that will take you from the bus terminal to the hotel. But if first timer to haneda then maybe will get loss like my bro and miss his final hour bus and in the end have to take taxi. a quick search at agoda shows that all hotel near the airport are around the same price as well.

also beware even if 10.40 arrive, still have to clear custom and immigration. lucky can within 15 - 30 min clear, there are times when too many ppl can take up to an hour or more.

my suggestion would be save money and just stay at the airport till 5am and wait for the monorail to operate. even if u book hotel u not gonna stay long as well, most hotel checkout would be at 9-11am. unless u are willing to book 2 day at the hotel.

Was planning to utilise Hokuriku Arch Pass to Tokyo from Osaka but it seems the Thunderbird from Osaka to Kanazawa & certain sections of Hokuriku Shinkansen are cancelled.
Usually how long the routes are closed for repairs due to earthquake?

Other than this pass, any better option that can take? Journey will be from Osaka - Tokyo - Karuizawa - Tokyo

Japan speed. April.......fastest. If more than April , 2025.
JR rail pass are only pass that cover Tokyo - Osaka part....but price increase, not worth it....you only travel one way.
Why must train? Take express bus.

Initially thought of using Hokuriku Arch Pass To travel Osaka (& vicinity like kanazawa /kobe) - tokyo -karuizawa so it was the most economical.
Wiler midnite Express bus for 3 seater cost abt RM100 less than bullet train hence tot of using train to save time as my accomodation all fixed.

Is it ok to drive ard Hakone area Lake Kawaguchi/Yamanaka/ etc if 1st time driving in winter. Wont be full snowy road is it? sweat.gif
Saw Toyota rent a car abt 9k yen incld insurance & i can drive at my own time & place. Pick up at Kawaguchiko Shop near the train station & drop off same

I was planning to overnight at Haneda airport but when i reached there and clear custom, there is still a bit time for me to take the train to Shinjuku.
So i travel to Shinjuku and stay at an internet cafe for 6 hours at around RM65 as the next morning i going to Shinjuku Bus Terminal.
I took the Tokyo monorail at 11.30pm and change to another train heading to Shinjuku. Its kinda rush haha.
When reach Shinjuku station, need to walk around 7min to the internet cafe dragging the luggage. Luckily the rain just stop.

Arch Pass is dead due to earthquake. You still stuck between Osaka - Tokyo. Best way still taking night express bus. (You save one night hotel fees)
If rent car, Make sure is 4WD. DO NOT DRIVE NON 4WD Car during Winter. Since renting car, You can cover Kawaguchiko & Hakone & Karuizawa.

If you want to go Kanazawa / Toyama.....Bus / self driving are only way. Train is suspended.

Kawaguchiko & Hakone car parking are super expensive due to tourist zone biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Planning to visit Hokkaido on 25 January - 05 February 2024.

1. Is it a good timing and is it affected by the earthquake?
2. How do I make a reservation for Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort? Mind sharing the link with me?

I just came back from Hokkaido - not affected by earthquake, but quite a fair few flight delays/cancellations yesterday and today due to weather and accident.

The snow was beautiful though, and I’m sure it’ll be even better in the coming days due to the recent snow dumps.
I’m guessing conditions will remain good towards end-Jan.

Haha, mind sharing your itinerary? Are you using the public transport like JR and buses or rent a car? Because only two of us and renting a car is expensive.

Which place is your favorite and must visit?

hi Both,

thanks for your reply,
I guess either have to get morning flight (arrival) or just sleep inside airport for a night.
is that anywhere inside Haneda airport can sleep? will the guard come disturb or shooing me away?

nope, free to sleep anywhere as long theres a chair. some ppl using multiple chair to sleep as well. dont sit near the elevator area, the elevator will keep making warning noise to watch ur step and its annoying to hear that every 5-10 min lol. 4th and 5th floor the lights darker a bit, a lot of ppl sleep there also. 2nd floor and 3rd floor a bit noisy, since its arrival and departure.

see if u can catch the train b4 12am or not, if able then can try to find a capsule hotel or internet cafe to rest. if have iphone then can top up suica, no need to lineup and buy train ticket.

Most of the morning flights from Malaysia to Tokyo are JAL or ANA, and even SIA arrive at night.
if the price difference between AAX with JAL/ANA is more than RM500 I'll just sleep 5hours in Airport much better hahaha

my SIA slight arrived in Tokyo around 5-6am (during Oct 23 trip)

I'm worried to take AAX because of the risk
