Persona have better top speed even when usng same engine. It should be lower since it is heavier than Gen2. Did P1 tweak the engine since the FC also change from Gen2. For auto it maybe because of TCU but should it be the quite the same for manual?

FYI, Dr M did mention s'time ago tat to b qualified as a "National Car", a certain % of parts must be made locally. It was when our Rafidah declared d Naza Ria as a "1st National MPV" when almost all d stuff came from Korea. N do u seriously think d price of our locally made stuff can rival those from China, Thailand or even Korea? Even our local rice is more expensive then Thai or Myanmar rice if it wasnt for d taxes n duties. Bear in mind 1 of d reason China n India r growing very fast is due to d material n hiring cost advantage.

Also, also keep in mind tat Proton (though i doubt its 100%) has to design d car from scratch. Its no easy task considering tat Protons market is 2 dependent in M'sia alone. N seriously speaking, our market alone is really 2small to support any kinda make. Ever thought how long will it take before they get their return on investment? For P2, their cars R&D were heavily reduced coz of Daihatsu n Toyota.

N pls dun ask d Gov to get itself too involved in P2. It is wat tat which caused P1 n MAS to b in where they r now.

I'm not a Proton supporter n there a long list of stuff tat I dun like about them, but please try to c things in a bigger picture instead of bashing blindly.

some people bash Proton for everything. Some bash for a valid reason and some do it for no reason at all...

perhaps he drives a Toyota or a Honda car or wants to get one. I've seen and talked to many people who hate Proton because they have a far superior car....

we can talk all we like about how expensive the japanese cars are ....but the thing is that theres nothing in the world that we can do. Reality is that cars like City and Civic or Vios and Altis are way above the budget of many Malaysians. The alternative is to buy cheaper cars from Perodua and Proton

truth is, proton made some really poor decisions in the past few years. they became complacent and slipped up. My brother bought the Gen 2 when it was first released and wasn't paid for his patriotism. But we must be fair....i think the newer Protons are better cars. it shows they are making and effort and it is only fair to praise them for it.

The are improving and the last thing they need is for our own nation to condemn it regardless.. Perhaps some might be happy if Proton is sold and taken over. Personally, despite its problems, i really hope that Proton can do well again... it will be nice to see Perodua and Proton challenge each other equally...it would then ensure we have good cars and more choices...

plus you're a useless forumer too and maybe a retard anyway i have already look around this new Persona.The seats are very comfy for me and the steering is not big as i seen on the ads.This Persona is spacious for this kind price of car and the cheap feeling on the Gen 2 doesn't feel much on this new model.

I don't mind to book one if i have the buying power.

All we hope is P1 gv a reasonable price for the car the made. Hope thier parts at reasonable price and good services. Hope Proton Persona is the car. ^^

i am utterly amazed at what you just wrote. japanese cars are expensive in malaysia only because the government artificially inflates their prices and distort the domestic market with exorbitant taxes. if proton is really so capable, why does it still need the governments protection after 20 years?? vios and city should only cost RM55k+ without the duties.

i know proton are trying to recover, and they deserve their due credit for wanting to finally buckle up and improve, to cater to what the customer wants. but quite frankly, they should have realised this long ago instead of this current desperation act. if they really want to show their capabilities, let the government open up the car market in malaysia and see them compete with other brands fair and square. a company will never strive to improve if there is no competition. equip their cars with better mandatory safety features (all their export models come standard with ABS and airbags, why cant they do the same for us? are malaysian lives really less precious than foreigners??).

please. study the facts first and be rationale before stating your opinions. dun be so ignorant to whats happening here. the rakyat deserves much more after two decades of blood-sucking. it is our hard-earned money after all.

actually if u are already / can afford cars like civic or altis, those owners at least have some privilege/rights to take a swipe at other cheaper car manufacturer, because they put their money where their mouth is.... by buying a far superior car....

yeah, proton made lots of poor decisions that cause them to be where they are now, but lately with their offerings like the savvy, neo and now persona, u can see the build quality is improving, but some how, bashers will be bashers, they just wont acknowledge the improvement made... they are hoping that proton will shut down so that they can buy city / vios at 40k which is wishful thinking...

now with persona getting lots of thumbs up (time will tell once the persona is delivered to the buyers), the bashers is fast running out of things to bash, hence the name calling by labeling other people fanboys

Basically the cost of the Pesona and The Vios or city is the same . Plus there was no development for tat car, all they did was extend an existing model . How do they justify it being 55k ? He said, what can you expect from a 55k car ? You can expect way more then the kind of crap Proton comes out with.

Id rather see perodua bring in more Jap cars at an affordable price rather then see Proton piss poor quality and cars. Yes I do know Perodua brings in Malaysian version of cars such as the Mira and such, but at least those cars are reasonable and worth buying.

If the gov didnt tax other cars, Alot of cars would be way affordable when compared to the proton cars.
