Sorry late reply, have to wait for this forum’s idiotic 3 posts/12 hours to refresh. And with this post, my quota’s out again. It’s like using a crappy prepaid phone telco service. Haiyyyaaa!

Your SIM being the last element that pinpoints your location, Neekun. I failed to mention that my Fold is still SIM card-less, not moving into it as my daily driver until I get the case I’m waiting for and thanks to COVID, case gets delayed delivery. It’s in the country from Korea and Singapore, just nobody from customs and post service processing it.

Either way glad it’s solved. Start with the Multi Star module and make your apps full screen I know I did that first can’t stand Instagramin it’s with weird aspect ratio. There’s a peculiar Galaxy Fold specific section called “I Love Galaxy Fold”, the obvious place to start.

Instagram full screen is the main reason I need Good Lock 😄

Fold 2: The Mystical Bronze Steampunk Artifact. wink.gif

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I’d like to apologize to VRS design for the initial “Meh!” expectation and impressions I had before having the packing now in hand. It is of quality construction, and the color matches the Fold Mystic Bronze really good versus the bad impressions for the silver and black color version in the GalaxyFold subreddit. That’ll teach me a lesson: NEVER LISTEN TO the fickle bunch in that subreddit, make your own mind instead. I’m sitting here and the case seriously looks like bronze-like metal to me under these lighting. Cold cathode lighting. You blast harsh lighting you get that plasticity look I guess, but I’ve tested this under the harsh lighting in the bathroom, still looks like a bronze steampunk artifact to me.

Now to spill the secret. I bought this off GMarket almost a month ago. That’s how bad COVID has affected shipping speed, not to mention how shipping was affected by the slow shipping in Korea during the Chuseok holiday, and their slow shipping process: vendor ships to warehouse, warehouse ships to customs in Incheon airport, then only it flew out. I used EMS as well.

I also have the kickstand version of this case coming in from SG. Bad timing, as I got it shipping in right when we declared PKPB in Klang Valley. Tracking shows that shipment now in Melaka(!!?) after custom clearance there, I guess the mail courier center behind KLIA isn’t operating? Dunno what’s happening with that but it won’t be a stressful wait as I already have the this version of the case safely in hand.

Also have a leather envelope style pouch arriving from Shenzen. Delayed as well by COVID. Its somewhere in the closest mail center near my home, and God knows when these free-shipping POS MY service will be getting off their ass to send it in.

So-called "AI Autofocus" case

Can't get the images to resized properly so I'll just drop the link here.
https://imgur.com/a/fYDMBnc

First thing I held the case in my hand already amazed by it's matte texture as compared to the slippery feel of the plastic transparent case I just put on few days ago. The thickness is comparably similar with the aramid cover. Quality wise doesn't feel like cheap plastic also, although it's just RM30. The case hold the phone body tight and fit, with additional bulge on the top and bottom of front case that hook into the speaker grill (zoom in photo to see).

One of the noteworthy points is the right edge of the front frame is now higher compared to previous case which means better protection but also increased the difficulty to access edge panel. You still can trigger it but might take some time to practice and get used to it. But I think people use the edge panel lesser on the front screen than on the inner screen. Swipe gesture for BACK action on the other hand is not affected thou.

Another thing to mention is the camera cover. The camera glass is not exposed like other case. If get irritated by the imprinted "AI Autofocus" letters, get a dbrand camera skin and it can be covered nicely, or just buy a bottle of spray paint to settle it hmm.gif .

I can say that I'm quite satisfy with this case and would probably use it for long term. If anyone is still scouting for a case, really can give it a try since it might save you some money before go for those branded cases that cost over RM200.

Apple's Magsafe charger works and connects magnetically to the Fold 2. Wonder if the Apple Wallet that attaches magnetically works the same way?

Or is this blasphemous? Samsung and Apple abomination working together. puke.gif 15W max wireless only charge, folks.

Last piece of the puzzle arrived.

The Kickstand version.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I feel that the kickstand is stronger than the Aramid case kickstand, although I prefer the Aramid case position of the kickstand.

The bump of the kickstand providing unintended advantage over the non-kickstand version, grippable protrusion that slides between my fingers providing better grip than the non-kickstand version.

Either way, I'm still adjusting/conflicted between putting sticker to completely "rigidify" the front case, or leaving it on its own. I've put the case on and off multiple times now, and no signs of the defects so much portrayed on GalaxyFold subreddit, that I'm thinking either he got a defective version of the case, or he applied stronger adhesive that eats into the case that resulted in the damage he had, or it's an attempt to smear the reputation of VRS so that Fold users buy other brands like UAG or Spigen.

Then go naked.

As for the weight, you're another case of "me and first impression without physically handling it yourself". I had the impression that this is a crappy case without actually inspecting the case personally. I've made my apologies to VRS for making such impression before holding it it my hands personally. Actual handling of the case totally changed my impression.

As for your impression that it's heavy, then the case has succeeded in giving the impression that it's heavy like the metal it's faking itself as. That's a success in my book. In reality? It's lighter than the Aramid case. Again, never assume.

I guess it depends on your hand size. I can palm a basketball myself, so this case is perfect for me. In fact, the case even adds material to the side of the phone, so that I dont feel anxious every time I unfold the phone because the sides of the phone naked are so thin I cant grab on to it to properly unfold the phone. Too much pressure, the phone will fly out of my hands, too little pressure it will slip out of my hands for not enough force to overcome the hinge tightness.

To each his own. I thought I left the fickle crowd over there in GalaxyFold subreddit. Here still got apparently.

Continue assuming please. Your usage and physical needs are different than mine.

Received the transparent Ringke Slim case I ordered after 10 days from Korea via Lazada. My favourite case so far I think, next to the Araree flip case. Both sides come with some pre-applied tape (those black coloured "bars" in the pictures) to hold the case more securely to the phone. I didn't use them though, since the case already fits quite snugly onto the phone and unless you're planning to wield the phone like a crazed samurai, I don't think the case will slip off the phone easily.

The sides of the case are tapered, not straight down like those cheapo China cases. It is also definitely slimmer, and has more "flex" to it when you grip it slightly tight in your palm (before you put it onto the phone, that is). Swiping to activate the edge panel is easy, it's almost guaranteed to work every time you try it, unlike those China cases. The back case even has a slot to insert a lanyard which came with the case but I don't plan on using it unless the case is superglued to the phone.

Bought it for RM79, seller raised the price to RM99 right after I bought it (they did the same to this item in their LZD Singapore store too). I got the transparent one to show the colour of the phone since I've paid a small fortune for it.

Ignore the seemingly off-centred camera cutout in the last picture, the case wasn't seated properly in the phone when I took that picture.

Not all posts in Reddit are fickle and empty of content like the GalaxyFold subreddit.

Found this gem of a post in the SamsungDex subreddit, that TOTALLY SOLVED the problems of app not going full screen and apps not supported in Dex Mode.

And I quote this brilliant workaround by u/mevans75502:-

QUOTE
"Theres a way aroud that "app is not supported in Dex mode" Got to" Settings: Samsung Dex: About Dex": Click on the "Samsung Dex" logo 5 times, it will turn on developer settings, go to "Samsung Dex Labs" tab, make sure "Force apps to resize" option is turned on. Go back to" Settings: About Phone", click on the "Software information" and click the "Build Number" 5 times to turn on Developer optons (shows up at the bottom of Settings), click on "Developer options", scroll down to Apps section and make sure "Force activities to be resizable" is turned on. Restart the phone (madatory... does not work without it), boot up and then try apps like Prime in Dex mode. When you have done that process there should not be any app that does not work in Dex mode."

Now ALL apps previously not working in Samsung Dex, works AND in full screen as well. Developer mode to the rescue. I can now use my crypto apps working in full screen, instead of only on the larger canvas of the inner screen, with Samsung Dex on my portable USB-C screen , along with portable mouse and keyboard, this setup is perfect for monitoring my trades in crypto. Particularly important since last midnight when Bitcoin went parabolic after the Paypal/Venmo crypto acceptance announcement today. Just made a couple of hundred USD with this morning crypto trade & price action. biggrin.gif Maybe use some of those profits for nicer outdoor portable working accessories for the Fold. rclxms.gif

Speaking of developers, I find better more technical posts in XDADev section of Fold 2. Just my kind of posts, technical and nerdy, my cup of tea/mug of beer. grin.gif Not looking into modding or TWRP the Fold just yet, but the brave souls of XDADevs have got that down already.
