Guys,i have a situation.... icon_question.gif

My E2160(M0 stepping) doesnt seem to be overclock well.....

My rig:

E2160--->3.04Ghz(8x380)--->not suppose to be 3.4Ghz??? shakehead.gif
Ip35-E bios 14

IP35-E has one 8-pin 12V atx(i'm using 4-pin),one 4-pin molex connecter,one 24-pin connecter
I found that if i unplug 4-pin molex connecter i cant even POST at (9x340=3060).
If i plug-in then stable at 340x9 @ 380x8 at 1.50V(YES!!!! 1.50V shocking.gif )

I just want to know is my PSU limit my OC? or CPU FSB wall?
i'm using cheap cheap icute 450w PSU.
Got 8800GT 512mb(720/1800/2006)+-100w? sweat.gif
2 HDDs,1 DVD R/W...

I think not the RAM limit coz i cant get 9x380mhz but can stable at 8x380mhz.1:1 ratio ofcoz.
*
it stated 3.4GHz because it still read ur multiplier as x9....
4pin atx can be use at 8pin eps...but it will give a little instability...
that's y the 4 pin molex can help u patch up voltage if needed...better just connect it...
1.5v is ur selecting voltage in bios??or by plugin the 4pin molex make it 1.5v??? which mean u cannot do nothing

I set it in bios,not stable below 1.5V doh.gif
9x380mhz is what i want but i only get 8x380 or 9x340. sad.gif
if i un-plug 4-pin molex 1.5v also not stable.Does any one who use ip35-e also facing the same problem? unsure.gif

just plug in the 4 pin molex...
for 9x380...u will need more than 1.5v to stable lor....1.5v not enough...only can boot but will failed orthos for sure...

1.5V no enough? shocking.gif
i thought 1.5V is consider too high already for a C2D bas proc...
most c2D only need 1.35/1.45V to reach 3.4ghz. wink.gif

@all
hold on your horses guys.. thanks commanders under my legion, flattie, techfrix for guiding this fellas.. but there are few points i would like to state

1. For the Abit ip35-e, i dont recommend a 4 pin PSU, coz its unstable. Play with 8 pins.

2.BIOS 14 is alright. so use it. and dont dream of 3.4GHz yet. Start your first benchmark at 3.2Ghz. Listen, 3.4Ghz is not easy, even for my self.

And Funnyface, we are not talking about Conroes here, we are talking about Allendales with a stock speed of 1.6-1.8Ghz, so u will at least need 1.48V(for the normal procs) to be running at 3.4Ghz, attempting the 8* of course. But if u do go at 9*, then maybe... but very unlikely.

using x9....u wont get it if u set 1.5v in bios...u must consider about the vdrop n vdroop...to get 3.4GHz stable u must at least have steady state vdroop at 1.5v...which mean u need to set higher than it to get that value...
@1.5v u only can get 3.3GHz stable if ur setting is rite...
