huh! where did you get this idea from? All e2140 or all processors from intel currently come with a "locked mulitplier" of 6-8*. The unlocked multipliers are those with the "extreme" signature.

The Ocbility of a processor has nothing to do with the size of the HSF. All HSFs are rather similar only that it depends on the TDP of the processor that Intel would either give you a copper base or an aluminium base. I dont really know where u derived this idea from but its pretty observant

Ocbility of the chip depends on the processor itself, its manufacturing process, quality of the wafer used and etc. External factors dont really play a role if the processor itself wont come up to the standards or quality.

its true that fps increases. The technical details i cant really explain coz not a GC guy just yet and i believe CS is a single threaded game.. so well, high clock speeds do help

so that pretty much sums up that the wall is at 410Mhz. Dont be sad though, you have made 100% OC.

normally steppings play a big role, and if youre a batch freak then it would help looking at when it was processed etc. A.k.a batch so lets just say u r gonna find a nice proc that can OC, maybe i can give an example of my batch number and u will know what week it was made and etc. Again, its all too technical, if i were you, i would be certain about the stepping and most probably if your LY or whatever salesman can tell you how old his stock is, you might be in luck to get a gem in your hands.

Hey guys, need some help over here. I just got my new motherboard Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L to pair with my E2160. When I've finished setup this rig, the processor ran at 1.4ghz instead of 1.8ghz. The multiplier set to 7 on default (200mhz x 7). What's wrong...?

Anyway, back to topic, I've push the fsb to 280mhz, it's running at 2.5ghz, and in just 15mins of stressing it with Orthos, the temperature shoots up to 62c.

How come...? I'm using Thermaltake Big Typhoon with Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste. By right it should be/at least better than Intel stock hsf, right...?

you can help also by OCing the GC. Remember that this stuff only works for single threaded games ah, not for games like Crysis and some latter games. You will die standing with latest games. Without an OC on GC.. rhymes well

it looks like it that the old batches are performing godlike, like mine, claws and kucingfight. You would be surprised if you looked at other forums, this guys have Average OCs of 3.43Ghz on their e2140. So we have to buck up ler. By the way, yes focus on M0. And hopefully older procs if youre lucky

1. Turn of EIST and C1E, this contributes to the multiplier drop due to power saving. That will solve your first issue

2. Welcome to the real world of OCing, this things work with Vcore settings. Lower your Vcore. To the 62 degrees post.

3. Well, sorry to demean you but AC5 is not the current standard for OC ppl. Its either Mx2 or Tx2. And i thought Big typhoon is pretty good?

again, have a higher processor speed at default doesnt mean a thing. Its the stepping and batch which is important. Regardless whether is 2140,2160, 2180 or even 2200.

A good batch 2160 is the best.I think Q722A is ok one.Not sure but older is better.

at the moment, i would think ppl should get the e2160 instead. Has a bigger chance of going to 3.6Ghz on air. Of course with proper cooling la.

You need a good batch E2160 to do 3.6.Everything need to work well to do 3.6.

Something like that.Board buy IP35E,Ram Good Value or Team Elite 667/800 and PSU use Strider 400W.Like that,you have a solid oc package.

1. What RAMs are you using?
2. Did you increase the Vcore?

update to its latest bios is very recommended
