I've actually managed to buy several notebooks and desktops from Dell without the OS installed for the firm I work in.Not sure why they can't do the same for Home Users.

Okay but processor will be the limiting factor there. You can't really unlock the power of the Dell

QUOTE(tracyjz @ Nov 7 2007, 10:32 AM) Core 2 Duo is 15% faster than Core Duo if same clock speed. So C2D 1.5 means 1.5x1.15=1.725Ghz. So a 1.8 Core Duo performs better than it. However, it is using 965 chipset instead of 945. So better for your future upgrade as the processor can be upgrade. If want review, check here: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Core-D...Duo.2404.0.html http://crave.cnet.co.uk/laptops/0,39029450,49283370,00.htm http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Proces...ist.2436.0.html So, my advise is depends on your budget, if really tight budget, better go for a T2450 2.0 Core Duo. Best performance for the price. If got budget, go for at least 1.6+ C2D. Dun spend half way and buy 1.5C2D and regret. You can have a look at the previous page where some forumer complained bout their 1.5. Overall, still depends on your usage, if you feel you dun need high processing speed, then its ok. Cos laptop most important is value for money, better buy according to your budget and moderate, then few years later get a new one with new technology. Dun throw in all the cash for the latest tech now, since 3 years later it is still cosider as old tech. Cos tech item wont last forever.
