QUOTE(19 Degree South @ Feb 17 2020, 11:30 AM) Share the same sentiments ! But lots of ppl kpkb that Samsung shortchanged the my buyers for not having 5 g devices! Lol! I think the kpkb part is more on the dismal free gifts, the 128GB storage and the 5G Ultra doesn't support all possible 5G bands.QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Feb 17 2020, 12:04 PM) Its never "overkill" to have the latest tech at your hands, but it would really be "OVERKILL" when you pay TOP DOLLAR for a phone which isn't even ready for 5G. It is if you're not gonna utilize the feature before you sell off the phone - which would be the case for me, hahaha... |

So can't blame Samsung either. But since 5G is not needed/available yet, might as well we just use back our phones and wait for 5G to be working and then only decide which phone to buy. Since it doesn't make much of a difference as newer phones without 5G would be just the usual "better processor, better camera, a bit larger screen and better screen", and in the S20's case you even have smaller storage of 128gb of the current 256GB storage expected on current flagship phones. Exactly. That's why I can recommend the S10 Lite over the S20 for someone who wants to get a Samsung this year and get their money's worth That, or the Note 10+ for sub RM3000-ish but with the Exynos quirks... |

I think s20 main selling point is the 120hz screen which every reviewer or youtuber said will change your usage experience ( smoothness). |

Yeah. Agreed 5G is still being developed. But by end of this year at least we will have commercial sub 6 GHz 5G as announced by MCMC last month. This also at least in Klang Valley I believe. Forget about the mmWave for now as I think they will come in phase 2 of 5G deployment. Looking around the world, only the US has commercial mmWave service while most countries including China, HK, South Korea started with sub 6 GHz 5G. That also mean the Snapdragon version from South Korea is a potential device to be imported for those who want Snapdragon as it supports the C-band 3.5 GHz 5G in Malaysia. For me the main thing is the Exynos chipset. Hence, cancelled the preorder. The 120 Hz screen is tempting though. This post has been edited by ipohps3: Feb 17 2020, 03:37 PM |

I'm on the Oneplus 7 Pro and its one of the first to adopt 90hz screen. The 90hz screen is indeed is smoother and slicker, more fluid but its not a deal breaker. If you would ask me if the 90hz refresh rate is necessary, I would tell you No. If the app you are using wasn't purpose built for the 90Hz or 120Hz refresh rate, the phone detects it and lowers the refresh rate to the standard 60 hz. So.... I would say the 120hz refresh rate would be nice to have, but not really a good reason to buy the phone for. QUOTE(ipohps3 @ Feb 17 2020, 03:36 PM) Yeah. Agreed 5G is still being developed. QUOTE(ipohps3 @ Feb 16 2020, 06:19 PM) It is just digital/hybrid zoom on the smaller S20 and S20+. As stated, the primary camera has and angle of 79 while the so-called "telephoto" camera only has an angle of 76 while the real telephoto camera on Ultra has an angle of 24. That explains it all. Real optical zoom only available on the ultra up to 4x to 5x. The S20 and S20+ don't have "real" telephoto camera. Instead, you have 2 "main" cameras with almost equal zoom. The main "normal" camera is 12mp while the telephoto 64mp, which is supposed to be a "telephoto" is just 1.06x closer than the "normal". Meaning, it is NOT actually telephoto but instead cropping within the 64mp to get the "zoomed" image. It's like you having an old phone with only 1 camera at the back and zooming it 2x and telling everyone it is a "telephoto" lens. To put this into perspective, all popular phones like S10/N10/iphones etc have 2x telephoto lens. The zoom lens isn't a cropped image of the original image resolution.
