Galaxy S20 8GB RAM + 128GB storage – RM3,599
Galaxy S20+ 8GB RAM + 128GB storage – RM3,999
Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G 12GB RAM + 128GB storage – RM4,999

Are they serious with the pricing?
There is nothing special with the Galaxy S20. At least make that phone as affordable as when the S10e came out. It also had free Galaxy Buds and 1+1 warranty protection.

I'm quite sure the pricing will fall faster this time.

Not used, BRAND NEW S10.
Stay away from used set bro.
A brand new S10 can be had for less than 2.5k

There's already benchmarks of Exynos 990 online iinm.

Summary - its not gonna be on par with SD 865, not even close... it just manages to beat the 855+

But those are recorded on pre production models
*
The only issue I have with Exynos devices is battery life.
It really drains a lot of power compared to SD.

can't decide between the + and the 5g. Is the 5g, battery and camera worth the extra 1k?
*
It's already worth the extra 1k for the camera and battery.
5G itself is useless and these phones are draining so much battery since the 5G chip is separate from the SOC.
We are still in the early stage of 5G technology.

I feel that buying an S20 or S20+ is "just" the same as buying the Note10/Note10+ with minimal improvement in camera quality.

That's what consumers get when samsung main competitor has been crippled.

Let's see if the p40 Pro will give better deal next month
*
True.

Huawei will surely struggle without Google.
You almost couldn't see a stranger using Mate 30 Pro unlike when Mate 20 Pro was released.

Gone are the days when HTC was a formidable contender.
We need another OEM that can compete directly with Samsung.

S20 Ultra is 5G only, meaning it doesnt have 4G modem. Why are they even selling this (S20 Ultra) in Malaysia when the infrastructure cant support this??  sweat.gif
*
LOL not true. Just because you saw the word "5G", you already assumed it doesn't have other frequencies rolleyes.gif

Errr.. where did you see that the S20 Ultra is the ONLY 5G version here in Malaysia?
It's not stated in their website.

For people who believe, or wonder if this time the new exynos chip can match up with SD865 chip.

Fun fact.
Samsung motherland Korea ditch their in house exynos chip and use Snapdragon 865 instead for S20 series.
Korean is known for supporting their own country products no matter what. But this time they decided to push their Exynos away.

So why? It's worth pondering.

Usually i will give the benefit of doubt to Samsung whenever they released the new Exynos chip every year. But this year, after they are pulling this move, I believe that Samsung indirectly admitted that their newest Exynos chip is inferior compared to Snapdragon 865.
*
Err..
It wasn't just for the SD865.
It has always been the case that Exynos is inferior to the SD counterpart.
This is why US, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong have been using SD instead of Exynos.. because these are important markets to Samsung.

But do you know the REAL reason why Samsung is using SD?
This is to HOARD the latest and greatest SD chip so other OEMs will have a hard time getting supply.
It wasn't a secret that LG complained about this and was forced to delay releasing their flagship each year.

Another reason is to make Exynos relevant to the market given that Huawei's Kirin chips are getting all the praises.

See, it's not just about one factor. There are several factors as to why we end up using Exynos and why other countries are using SD.

S10 lite due to snapdragon
Note 10 lite due to spen
S20 plus, because of better ram and storage.

Price is not the main issue because 3 devices is similar in pricing, about 3-4K. Dilemma dilemma dilemma.
*
Go with the latest one. S20 Plus.
The reason is it will definitely be supported more than the other 2.

It's only normal for first-gen devices.
Soon 5G modem will be integrated in the SOC itself.

Exactly.... well said.

I remembered is it S8 or S9 model, exynos > SDD and exynos has to be tuned a level lower to go hand-in-hand with SD.

This is a gamble,  guys smile.gif
*
Guys, please stop freaking out with Exynos. It's not that bad. It's just not as battery efficient as SD.
But with 4000+ mah battery, your phone won't die on you for a day.

gotta check with more experience user here as i have never import one myself. too scared to do so.
*
I always buy my phone from T&L Telecom.
I am not afraid to buy import set for 1 reason - you have 7 days to thoroughly test your device and if it is lemon, you CAN return the phone for replacement or refund.

In my ~5 years transacting with them, I am yet to encounter any issue.
My latest purchase was on Dec- Galaxy Note 10 Snapdragon Dual Sim.

Local after service is only important IF you are the clumsy type.

Why do I prefer buying from T&L? Simple. Phones are cheaper and they sell units which are not locally sold here in MY (Samsung Snapdragon units, other OEMs, etc)

It is just digital/hybrid zoom on the smaller S20 and S20+. As stated, the primary camera has and angle of 79 while the so-called "telephoto" camera only has an angle of 76 while the real telephoto camera on Ultra has an angle of 24. That explains it all. Real optical zoom only available on the ultra up to 4x to 5x.
*
The S20 and S20+ don't have "real" telephoto camera. Instead, you have 2 "main" cameras with almost equal zoom.
The main "normal" camera is 12mp while the telephoto 64mp, which is supposed to be a "telephoto" is just 1.06x closer than the "normal".
Meaning, it is NOT actually telephoto but instead cropping within the 64mp to get the "zoomed" image.

It's like you having an old phone with only 1 camera at the back and zooming it 2x and telling everyone it is a "telephoto" lens.

To put this into perspective, all popular phones like S10/N10/iphones etc have 2x telephoto lens. The zoom lens isn't a cropped image of the original image resolution.

DirectD was a good source of grey units but they stopped getting supply ever since online sellers are selling them at a cheaper price. I only buy from DirectD on special sale like 11.11 etc.. or their clearance sale.

That's because ppl are getting lazy to manage them. That has been the whole point from the beginning. One can argue how this n that is important but how often do you used those junk? Once or twice a year? If you're using them often, I think you can already memorize them.

A phone should be a temporary intermediate storage holder that last for as long as you kept the phone. When you change phone, you should only copies over the most important ones and get rid of the junks. This is why they introduced cloud storage because they knew it's a big business due to people's laziness to manage their junks.
*
+1
I know some people who are keeping "useless" pictures just because they are too lazy to manage their files.
These are the same people who complain why they run out of storage and that's the only time they will delete hundreds of pictures.

I still feel 256GB should be the min storage from 2020 onwards for high-end phones. Just my 2cents.
*
It's kinda backwards thinking when cloud storage is the future.
All my photos prior 2020 are in Google Photos. The problem with having so many files on your phone is it reads each and every file when accessing an app that requires viewing file content like images or videos.
To me, all OEMs should have at least 128gb storage. 64gb is laughable.

U mean Google Pixel? Haahaha
*
The main reason why I decided to buy a Note10 SD Dual Sim rather than the Google Pixel 4 last year from T&L.
Note 10 Snapdragon dual sim 256gb = 3015RM
Pixel 4 64gb = 3099RM
Pixel 4 128gb = 3499RM

I've always wanted a Pixel but they think like Apple.
