5G is future proof?! i have doubt how far we can go with 5g coverage.. i would like to have better 4g stability and good experience..

bigger battery capacity over here is to support higher refresh rate of display 120hz.. which not so important to me..

however, the main selling point in S20 ultra is 10x optical zoom.. whoever travel frequently and  used to capture landscape will need it.. if normal photoshooting like foods, group of people, documents, you not even need 10x optical zoom.. but got extra is always better.. this is the concept of flagship compare with others.. i think its good to have some difference compare with midrange..

**5G vs your data quota currently that you're subscribed** if you have maxis fibre + unlimited data plan then it might be a good choice..

assuming 5G speed is really fast and stable in Msia, someone subscribed RM50 plan with 10~20gb data per month, accidentally click 1 youtube video, and video fully buffer and consume 100mb ady.. LOL
*
Main thing to look for 5G is the low frequency @ 700 MHz and not higher speed. Speed will be same or slightly higher than 4G. 700 MHz means very wide coverage unlike 3G and 4G. Forget about the mmWave 5G where most of the 5G promises are, as using mmWave is practically like private network with small coverage area.

Also, 5G @ 700 MHz drains about same bettery life as 4G. Only the 5G mmWave is the battery sucker.

Also, Ultra has 5x optical only. Anything beyond that is hybrid and digital zoom.

Not worth preorder S20 series as the freebies no good. Last year we got 1 year extended warranty, 1 year screen warranty, Buds, and Tab tablet. This year only Buds+. meh... Also, no Snapdragon, no 5G, and only 128 GB internal. meh... Still same finicky ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. meh... To those curious, 5G commercial availability is expected by Q3 if not latest year end in Malaysia. So, I think the Note20 will be 5G only.

QUOTE(Max2006 @ Feb 12 2020, 06:16 PM)
For people who believe, or wonder if this time the new exynos chip can match up with SD865 chip.

Fun fact.

Samsung motherland Korea ditch their in house exynos chip and use Snapdragon 865 instead for S20 series.

Korean is known for supporting their own country products no matter what. But this time they decided to push their Exynos away.

So why? It's worth pondering.

Usually i will give the benefit of doubt to Samsung whenever they released the new Exynos chip every year. But this year, after they are pulling this move, I believe that Samsung indirectly admitted that their newest Exynos chip is inferior compared to Snapdragon 865.

QUOTE(lambsauce @ Feb 12 2020, 06:22 PM)
as expected, we are still getting exynos here

n this gen of exynos continue to suck big time

im gonna pass this till the next gen chip that is using standard ARM core designs n AMD gpu

hopefully the next gen chip no longer disappoint n make a come back, else fck u samsung

Luckily, Samsung discontinued their custom core development team few months back.

according to Anandtech, the Exynos 5G version does not support mmWave lol. only support sub 6 GHz waves.

https://www.anandtech.com/show/15482/samsun...0-and-s20-ultra

Snapdragon version on the other hand supports all bands. means the ultra in Malaysia is not future proof.

Depends if Samsung included the mmWave antenna module. As sub 6 GHz antenna and mmWave antenna are separate modules.

Hence, the required extra space and cost for these extra modules.

Does anybody know what wireless charger is included? Is it the fast wireless charger? Or just normal one?

Edit : nvm just found it from a kind user who uploaded his pre-order list. It's a normal charging one.

Consider fast already at 9W.

msia no 5G can use ?

Can wait till end of year when Malaysia should have commercial 5G service according to MCMC as spectrum allocation to a single entity is expected to be completed by end of Q1. Also, our telcos have been trialling with 5G in Malaysia for the past few years already in collaboration with Huawei, ZTE, and Ericsson. Also, 5G is not meant to replace 4G, instead, 5G is to complement it, to expand wireless network in terms of coverage, capacity, and speed.

Preordered Ultra. Might ultra regret soon as 7 inch is too big for my hand.

Even though Ultra is attractive with its camera space zoom but practically personally will still go with the plus version. hope one day can have periscope in smaller size phone.

As suspected by Anandtech ealier that the Exynos version 5G will be compromised in terms of features. So, just take this S20 launch in Malaysia as 4G phones. No future proofing. Imported Snapdragon version is the way to go this time. biggrin.gif
