QUOTE(Luckyfield @ Apr 14 2010, 10:30 PM) This is the first company that offers me. Well, maybe you might wan to wait a little longer and work in ur engineering field. I'm not sure u'll like to do programming because u took engineering course afterall. RPG is a niche market, its up to you whether you wanted to try. It does pays good when u got the experience but wat job doenst? Who knows u get better opportunity in engineering fields.I applied for a few other companies also, went for interviews and all, but no reply yet. Why yea? QUOTE(ck_boon @ Apr 14 2010, 11:47 PM) Silverlake is a software house. We have many projects thus most of the staff are programmers. We have marketing team, accounts etc but programmers are the one Silverlake needs all the time. |

Added on May 3, 2010, 10:28 pm QUOTE(AntiViruz @ Apr 29 2010, 03:24 PM) going to die ? are u sure ? i heard most of the bank and manufacturing companies are changing their erp system... if it true... then i better think twice to go for RPG...... Where u heard them from? Its not an easy task to migrate a system to another. There is many risk involved. Money aside, the biggest risk is data loss while migration in which a financial company couldn't afford for it to happen. This post has been edited by Vinci777: May 3 2010, 10:28 PM |

QUOTE(Tiger99 @ Aug 29 2010, 02:14 PM) You can request and talk to your pm but for fresh grad, this is the only opportunity to earn bucks and project experience rather than doing maintenance and development only.Going overseas, most probably you'll have to stay there for a month unless exceptional travel. |

QUOTE(Tiger99 @ Sep 18 2010, 11:09 AM) If I was sent overseas, what kind of accommodation will be provided? Depends on which country you go. Some are hotels some are apartments and even service apartments. Most probably your sharing room with another person unless you're the only one traveling there or higher rank. Will I be staying with my colleagues i a house or what? |

QUOTE(Tiger99 @ Sep 18 2010, 02:23 PM) for apartments no personal room provided? Rooms have to be shared? Only those rank like SA will get personal room. Other will be in twin sharing basis.By the way,are you still a Silverlaker?? I have just started to create RPG program.. Firs time doing RPG program, feel it is a bit difficult.. It will take some time for you to get used to RPG. Its actually not difficult to code. The difficult part is the application logic. Yes, I'm still a Silverlaker |

QUOTE(liawkz @ Sep 20 2010, 12:03 AM) thx for u guys opinion and comment...i will intern there in tis coming december and most probably in project management department...any1 noe wat is the department about??? If ur interested to work after graduation, Yes. the chances are very high unless u screw up your internship. Project management normally deals with clients and own ppl. Their job is mostly coordinating the project so client and own ppl could communicate and meet deadlines etc. if i interest to continue work in silverlake after my intern mean i work as permanent staff...is it possible???because after intern, mean tat i graduate dy...thx...^^ However, techincal ppl would mostly think project ppl are a waste of time because in the end its the techincal ppl who talks to the clients because PMO are just routers and know nothing. Well, its my personal opinion cos I really dont know the job scope of PMO's. As an intern, you will have even more basic task I assume. This post has been edited by Vinci777: Sep 20 2010, 12:43 AM |

QUOTE(oumind @ Sep 20 2010, 11:07 PM) Technical people think project management is waste of time because they are technical people. Have you seen any IT MNC CEO with pure technical background? Yea. Like u said. Lousy ones. Lousy project managers know only passing tasks around. Better ones will manage both sides so that the project can be completed on time and within budget, e.g. do not add new feature, over-engineering. |

Nope. No extra money unless sales or management level maybe.
Can only make money from travel allowance and higher increment (hopefully). Increment could range from 300-1000 for beginner level. |

Depends on how quick u wanna get ur job done. We dont force you to work late if u can get your job done. Just dont let ppl clean up ur mess dats all
Flexible or not it depends on ur commitment to finish the work. Balance it and it will be fine. Btw, business line ppl are not much in slake. There shud be around 1 BA per 30 programmers. |
