I hope u could cope with it. At the end of the day, the training wont help much when u start working. Haha. The real training start when u assign into a team and given a task.

So now, Enjoy ur honeymoon in SL ^^ !!!!

Btw, ur surname is pang? I saw 2 look in the new recruit list. 17 ppl = same amount as ur training batch

What benefit u expected to have?

Internet? No. Only Gmail, Gtalk YM, MSN
Bonus? No. Company trend.
Increment? Depends really.
Turn over is high. Why? Ppl come in to get experience, then leave after received a better offer be it from clients or other company.
Travel? Depends on the team ur in. Luck plays apart.

Well,

RPG is totally a new thing (or too old) compared to VB.net . If u were assigned to do RPG/backend, you'll have to attend a 1 month RPG training. If ur doing java, i think they have java team as well. Its more into R & D I guess.

However, if u dont wanna go overseas, u can tell them. They seldom send some1 new to go oversea as well because there is lots of ppl waiting to go biggrin.gif

At wisma kemajuan ss19? If ur good, pls go. Pls check out why there is always internet dc issue. HAhaha.

Im not sure about the exposure. Its a data center for 2 of our oversea clients. Development room have around 20ppl but the datacenter room shud be less den 10 including operators. There i think u would have data center experience of how to handle as400 admistration like hardware upgrade etc etc. My guess ^^

i am wondering how do  programmers here  solve your code problems if internet is blocked since we can do our research on internet if there are any problems...got tons of solutions out there from internet...... shakehead.gif
*
Our software solutions is not something u can get from internet. It can tell u RPG codes but not how the system works. So, they give u RPG training and expect u to know them after the training. There are senior who will guide u there. I believe u will chat and surf web more than looking for solution if u get the opportunity to on9. Dats wat i do when i got the chance. LOL.

Anyhow, im able to IM and Gtalk and check Gmail only. Other blocked. T.T

Accommodation overseas provided by Silverlake is always very good. U live in good apartments condos whenever ur being assigned no matter its Japan, Singapore, Indonesia or Thailand. Accommodation is the thing u dont have to worry about biggrin.gif

No idea about exceptional claims. My guess its some special claims dat need management approval.

Hurray! Today's my first day working at SSSB. Guess what? I only got to my own place around 3pm...

My superior is on leave, then the person who's in charge of my workstation also on leave...I don't have any username and password to login into my workstation, so my whole day here would be sitting and surfing the net using my own laptop...
*
Because Thaipusam falls on Sat. Local based Silverlakers can replace the ph leave on either Friday or Monday. Most ppl took Monday so its no surprise ur superior did the same tongue.gif

Anyway, welcome and i hope u enjor ur stay tongue.gif tongue.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Silverlake really susah to apply and get a job there~

Ur wrong. 100 vacancies for fresh grad is no joke biggrin.gif unless ur not aiming for a fresh grad or a lower position. For higher postions/pay, they will need ppl in the similar fields.

imagine when you log in to AS400 you dont see the normal menu but a christmas tree. that was what syaz did. lol.

he's one of the l33t programmers/hackers in slake, but his social dept needs polishing, either that or i freaked him out
*
Ohhhh. Well, i didnt see the tree before. haha. But if is able to do dat, he must have change the AS/400 kernel stuff like how the hackers do to windows. I know hes one great hacker because he know the network so well.
He know how our system communicate with banks like how the socket connect or so in detail coding and not those TCP/IP configurations like what the network admins usually do.

Well, i guess he still below 30 or late 20's rite? biggrin.gif

If not mistaken, initial one month training will only be provided to those who'll be using RPG language. Then, you need to sign a contract of one year prior to the training.

I tot it have change to a 2 year bond now. Pls correct me if u may.

Heard that staffs joined between 2006 and 2009 as fresh grad will have adjustment.

Luckyfield: Environment in KL office can consider as an IT environment. No personal cubicle. Just many rows of PC where each rows contains around 10 pcs. We got around 100 rows for developers. Only Managements and accounts have rooms and cubicle. 10am and 3pm got kakak push trolley serving milo, teh and kopi aldou not in the best quality tongue.gif

Good luck biggrin.gif

For tea u can use ur own mug or use the provided cup. Many design too choose. Lol

Yea limited internet + pentium 4 pc. Good enough for as400 and rpg.

Travel depends on luck and team. Some team have many project overseas and some only local. But if u dont wanna go, pls inform them earlier so they can headcount or put u in other team etc. However, most fresh grad would like to go oversea due to the per diem.

The advantage of staying in office is your are going to have a development environment and experience. You get to learn more cos ur bosses are around. On client site u'll be doing implementation and support most of the time like a bank staff. Another advantage for guys are you guys get to look at those leng luis from IBM and KPMG during lunch time where you could never find one in Silverlake tongue.gif
