got 1 question.... if the company ask you to go oversea, can you choose which country you want to go or the company decide for you?

Added on January 15, 2009, 7:35 pmgot another question .... any1 of u silverlakers here now working overseas such as jakarta, dubai, or other place?? if yes can you tell me about the living and work condition there? does the pay per diem enough?
*
no u cant. depends on ur team and project base. Some team/project might not even have the chance to travel and only seniors have the chance to go oversea to support the client due to more experience in handling error.

SL will send 1-3 staffs to support their client at Jakarta, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore. They have project at Dubai currently but i dont have much info about it. Previously there is Japan client but now i think its near the end of the project and support ard. Working condition at oversea? some say its ok but some say there is no day and night even weekends need to work if support is needed.

For per diem, SEA countries where their currency is weaker den ours, SL will pay in RM which shud be enough. For dubai and japan i heard they pay USD.

And i very hate 1utama now. They always close the jusco supermarket parking in the morning and only open it at 10am. Working ppl will being forced to park in b2 because even b1 is closed until 10am.

As i know Silverlake System Sdn Bhd or SSSB is the foundation for Silverlake group. They then later expand to sg by buying Axis ltd and form Silverlake Axis to handle their operation in SG.

Im aslo not very sure. Too many subsidiaries.

Too many departments in Silverlake. Many types of software being used. They have asp, java, rpg, web based, etc etc. They will only find out once they are being assigned to a team.

Pay per diem is totally pathethic..... they should pay using the country salary rather than per diem......  the company owner already in the top malaysian richest man list still pay overseas worker using rm pathetic isnt it... summore i learn that silverlake charges also pathetic for example bank in malaysia they charge 1k for 1 day... but overseas project also 1k perday but using  different currency...

No choice. The boss is like dat. He will say take it or leave it. vmad.gif vmad.gif

Silverlake is a good start for fresh grad, but not for the senior level.
*
Not really true. Its hard for fresh grad to grow into a better pay in silverlake unless ur really good. Those who get better pay are those who come in experienced or have serve silverlake many years.

i wanna ask...anyone applied for the programmer as posted on jobstreet?
i am curious y they have 100 vacancies for programmer...can anyone tell me?
*
Boss strategy to take in cheap labour. By not giving out increment this year, I suppose he is expecting many young seniors to resign and replaced them with fresh grads. Every month there is few ppl leaving hence the 100 vacancies is needed. Afterall, Silverlake is always hiring and wont retrench it staffs because they knew you will automatically resign yourself unless you are patient.

Btw, u wanna apply? HR mentioned that there will be no promise of increment to its staffs but I do believe this is a good company to start off if u wanna see urself in a banking system industry because most banks have is using our module be it card system, retail banking, insurance, etc etc.

They want cheap labour anytime but they do treasure experience staffs. I mean really treasure them esp those with banking knowledge.

What position r u applying for? Programmer? Business analyst? 2.6k is reasonable if u come in with experience. Only fresh grads get 2k.

Go for the interview and see how it goes. Good luck to u as well. Btw, Monday and Friday is the day whereby Silverlakers take their replacement leave due to Depavalli fall on Sat. There wont be a lot of staffs around ^^

They wont be bonus as this is not Silverlake culture. Not even Cny angpau. Kudos to the 34 richest man in M'sia.

Rumors saying that increment would be on the Friday (pay day) but I do not put high hope on it. The benefit is the staff sit close to each other because they wont have their own cubicle. Its more like rows of development desk. Less politic dou.

Well babyclam, congrats by passing the interview. If you dont mind telling, what team r u joining? My guess would be Credit Card?

Akirax: You can try submit ur resume. I think they still taking inters and will always do so.

Yes. Its actually a good company to start with. If ur able to go to overseas project, it will be better due to the per diem that u can claim.

ik3da: I'm in credit card and its a huge team so I do not fear u finding out who I am. Hahaha. If u do, come say hi ^^

I think at most by 1 week they will let u know. Hope u get ur news next week biggrin.gif

In addition to raigores OT info, normal OT until 8pm is rm15 while OT after 9pm is rm40. Bigg diff huh? Haha.

Oversea or not it depends on the team ur in and luck. Some fresh grad are given chance to support overseas while some might stay in KL evendou after years of working.

Overseas client including Indonesia, Thai, China and Japan as well.

Its very expensive to change the whole system i assume and it wont be cost saving for banks.

If the AS400 can perform the task, there isnt any reason to change. The only possible changes i can think of is conversion from RPG to Java since there is limitations in RPG. But it will take years of R&D to convert the whole system without effecting the current dev.

Cool. Began training so fast huh. SL is badly needing fresh grads this year.

Previously the training was conducted every 2-3 months break. Now it seems if one training ends, another start right away. I was curios about this because i seem to saw lots of ppl coming out from the reception. My guess it would be training.

Anyway, enjoy the honeymoon while it last ^^

BA and BS dun have to attend rpg training. Only technical.

They r hiring fresh grads more aggresively because they need them for the new project.

BA n BS may come slow until they found the right candidate i assume. Its because only Credit Card team uses BA if im not wrong.

Good luck to u bro.
