Why vertical fan?

This is my DIY mod for my XBOX 360 using 100% environment friendly materials.

I used cardboards to create a funnel and it's fitted with a Vizo 120mm fan (low noise but great CFM). For the side, I removed the original plastic from the console and placed a Vizo Muffle 80mm fan. Both fans are powered with an A/C adaptor.

I know it doesn't look like a professional mod but I have tried playing Lost Planet and Gears Of War for around 12 hours, no artifacts or overheating problems so far. There are not additional mods being done internal to avoid voiding the warranty and yeah, have been running this console for 3 months with my DIY mod.

You can give it a try. Just sharing my experience with you guys.

currently im using 3rd party exhaust fan "black horn" the hot air coming out of it is terrifying

@sunauto: your DIY mods look practical. how's the exhaust air coming out from the back feels now with the mod? hotter/cooler exhaust air?

actually, comparing the HSF of 360 vs ps3, the 360 is actually not expelling enough heat via its solution. sounds crazy, but the ps3 exhaust air is actually much hotter than the 360, which is good news means all the heat is not trapped inside.

i place the 360 (horizontal) on a notebook cooler on the floor. the notebook cooler uses USB and will work even when the power brick is on standy (orange). make sure the power and video cords are not blocking any vents behind. make sure the vents on the right side have some space to "suck-in " cool air. i usually off the 360 by downloading some small files of the XBLM and put it in low-power downloading mode. the 360 will auto shut off once the file is completely downloaded

so far, only 3RL once and a couple of system hangs - still can use. manufactured june'06.

i know exactly how u feel.

but i gave in at last. i was dead set on getting the Elite ever since reading bout 3ROD (do a search by member name (haplo) and you'll c)

but then i read that the 65nm was coming this Dec n i was like screw the Elite!

let's get a re-designed 360 that would have solved the 3ROD prob right? But Dec is for the US version! Djinn said that by the time the Asian version comes here it'll be June, 2008. His prediction does make sense becoz the Elite which was launched in April will only now launch in Japan, in October. And guess wat, we have to wait again for the Asian version (apparently Japan is so big and almighty it's a region unto itself!) My guess is that it'll be Feb 08?[

So the 65nm is suppose to be released in the US, in Sep (to coincide with Halo 3's release? ) but a safer bet would be Dec, holiday season for maximum effect.

so plus 6 months to that, looks like we wont even get the Asian version in June. The japs have to get theirs first. So Dec 08?

So last Sat, i went up to Sungei Wang Plaza, found the only shop there selling ORIGINAL ONLY called Games Hypermart, n got myself the Bundled Premium and Gears of War and i have been having the time of my life ever since!!!



I just hope that mine is from the 70% group. if not so wat? get it fixed. Gears of War is too good not to be played. And have u checked out Bioshock and Assassin's Creed preview yet? i have N let's not forget Halo 3.

And since the 360 can play wmvs, i've been watching 720p movies encoded from bluray rips on my plasma.
dvd's resolution is 720×480 and 720p = 1280x720 = again

Where else can u find a 720p wmv player?

Really ? Then it is safe to said that this new unit will solved the 3ROD problem once and for all? I did admit 360 got very good graphic and games just the reliability problem. I just finished GOW before it kaput. Don't know it is good or bad. he he

if 60mn coming this year, then sure need to get onw.

cmonlah djinn, you and i know, even if it does come this year, it will only be in the US. we have to wait for the europeans and japs before we get it.
so plus 6 months to that and we r left waiting forever.

unless of course is MS does a world wide simultaneous release!

yup... like Haplo... I couldn't be bothered towards the end after all the threads...especially with the 60nm chip only arriving next year (end of this year, according to Djinn )...Still, by that time...I think GOW is like passe already!!! Hahahaha!!!

aaaa. long time no see such a good mod. it does not need to look hensem2, if it could serve the purpose tak per. sudah lama tada online. dulu putrajaya juga ada duduk internet takde. sekarang sudah duduk shah alam balik. kawan, guide me on this one. what you use.

if you purchase a japanese doa xtreme 2.. it work on any console..

but asia doa xtreme 2 just doens't work well on the asia unit...

the reason i ask this, because i'm planning to get one.
