Hey guys there's a new update available for the UnifiTV app on UPB. The latest version is 1.2.12 which was released on the 4th of March. Yesterday it was on the 1.2.11 version which was released on the 3rd of March. Within a day 2 updates. The improvement is minor as far as I notice. On some channels, the picture quality has improved a bit but most of the channels are not. The subtitles are still the same with visible pixels. Screw those app developers. Till now they are not able to solve the issue. They should just resign instead of being working there doing a lousy job 😡

Yes it does. UPB bandwidth recommendation is minimum 30Mbps. So if you intend to download stuff in your computer while watching UPB, it will buffer. BTW did you connect UPB through WiFi or Lan cable? If WiFi then yes it will be bad. Try to connect using Lan cable to UPB. At least the buffering will be less.

Plug and play. I do recommend you to connect the UPB via Lan cable. The HyppTV app is buggy and the picture quality is very bad. If you only depend on HyppTV then yea you have to bear with it.

I have the old unifi tv box (small white box), it now works with router LAN 4 iptv port only.

Now I plan to move my router to another location and use a switch to extend the connection to TV box area using normal Ethernet port, is there a way to configure the tv box to work with normal LAN port instead of dedicated iptv port?

I'm not sure Unifi knows what they're doing with the Plusbox. Switching from dedicated IPTV to Internet streaming that shares bandwidth with the regular Internet is a very bad idea. Gone are the days when I can download 500Mbps on my PC while enjoying IPTV with no buffering or cutoffs.

Not to mention their Playtv App streams at a much lower quality than the regular IPTV streams. It feels like they will try to force customers to upgrade to faster speed to compensate for insufficient bandwidth when you have your whole family using the Internet and the TV keep on buffering.

I read somewhere that certain switches/hub can also set as LAN 4 for iPTV hmm.gif

It all comes back to VLAN tagging

If you have way to tag VLAN 600 for that particular LAN port, then it shall work

To those using Unifi Plus box, could you please check for me whether your unifi plus box running on Android security patch version 5 August 2019? Been using the box for 5 months and I never get any update for the Google patch security update.

+1

Wanted to ask about this as well..

If there has not been any update from them then it is not a good sign..
There's been quite a lot of vulnerabilities detected last year & one specifically for Amlogic component in August last year.
Refer:- https://source.android.com/security/bulleti...ogic-components

UPB users should email TM or MCMC regarding this issue.

I see yeah I got the box since it was bundled with 100Mbps package for RM 139. Previously I was paying RM 119 for 30 Mbps since my area was under VDSL. So for a additional RM 10 on top of the RM 129 for 100 Mbps, this was the good deal I got rather than paying RM 20 monthly for 24 months. Yes I took this box because the hardware is newer compared to Mi Box S. Plus this UPB can support dolby atmos, dolby true HD audio codecs which the Mi Box S lacks. This would be my last purchase from TM. I so done with their lousy work. First I got my own router on March because their router auto reboot itself every week. Now this UPB lacks the software update which is necessary for it to run smoothly. My next purchase would be Nvidia TV Shield Pro
