I think if choose established brands like Ceramic Speed, then it should be OK provided that the LBS technician also properly install it.

yes very strong grip. but not as grippy as Elite Custom Race i used last time.
also it has full length base unlike some weightweenie bottle cages. that way my bottle wont kena my frame.
bought it years ago when the price was almost half the price now.

if i were u lah, i'd save up money and get a nice disc brake complete bike.
just use current setup until u just cant find replacement parts anymore tongue.gif
meanwhile u r saving up, u can look at how the bike industry evolve.
see if rim brake being phased out or not.
see if rim brake being pushed to lower tier only or not.
if later current setup damaged or not worth repairing/replacing anymore, and turns out rim brake still relevant and here to stay at top tier, i'd use my saving to get a really nice rim brake bike.

one thing i like about disc brake (hydraulic) is the cable can be routed anyway i want to. can bend here n there unlike rim brake.

Different school of thought has different opinions on this matter. As an old school guy, I prefer rim brake as I think disc brake is ugly. It took me awhile before to move from steel frame to carbon and from dumb head unit to the gps enabled ones. Just orang tua style. Guessing if I’m gonna move to disc brake, gonna take at least another 5 to 10 years down the road
