Not to say we can't tell the framerate, since I can feel the difference between a 30 fps game and 60 fps game in console games. Personally I prefer a locked framerate versus unlocked framerate, since the game will feel better to control.

Btw I've been eyeing the Samsung Q80T for next year, since it's fully HDMI 2.1 compliant. The 55" model is relatively affordable, but jumping to 65" immediately adds almost RM4000 to the figure! Assuming my Series X can arrive by then, it would be perfect timing for me to test out 120fps gaming on console.

I would suggest you to hold off on purchasing "next gen" TV right now as most of the TV right now having compatible issue also specially if u combine with soundbar.

Probably wait sometime and do some homework before purchase.

I just purchased one Samsung Q950T soundbar which promo to have HDMI2.1 but right now not sure is firmware lock or what, AVforums ppl mention it cant passtru 4k120hz using eArc.

Yup for us, we can tell because we’re more exposed to tech stuff, but for the mass console gamers, they can’t.

You might want to consider Dolby Vision tvs instead, since the XBOX Series X will support it - although it’s just another HDR, but I am pretty sure it will be an eye opener when you play games like Cyberpunk 2077.

I hope this doesn't become the norm going forward. The entire idea behind Series S is that whatever Series X can do, it can do too. Except it will just be limited to 1440p only, and it won't have an optical drive. If we can't even have performance parity, Microsoft just torpedoed the Series S, and pretty much force everyone to get Series X instead.

this manifesto M$ make for 1st party game only.... 3rd party they cant control

I don't know about that particular TV or soundbar, but I used to have eArc related issue back then. My current TV is a Samsung KS7000. It was at one point one of the recommended TVs for Xbox One X/PS4 Pro. I run my Bluray player, Astro box, Xbox One X and PS4 Pro through a Yamaha RX-V683 AV receiver. At that time I didn't really care about eArc, since I prefer having the device do the decoding instead of the TV. One day I was curious about enabling eArc, because if I use the TV's Netflix or Youtube app, I need to use the TV speakers instead.

I've checked and double checked which HDMI port needs to be used for eArc. I made sure the TV speakers are not set to Bluetooth or TV. Nothing worked. I could never get eArc to work.

Earlier this year, I traded in that RX-V683 with a RX-V685. It's technically a refresh of the same series, just updated with 5 x HDCP 2.2 ports instead of 3 x HDCP 2.2 on the RX-V683. Without even needing to configure anything, eArc worked flawlessly. The TV is still the same; only the AV amplifier was changed. I guess despite having common standards in place, sometimes things just don't work as it's supposed to.

I guess you're right. Like when Capcom said Devil May Cry V Special Edition on Series S will NOT receive Raytracing patch. I wonder what other titles will we hear having drastically reduced visual quality / performance going forward?

I also think that with a console, you can’t possibly tell the framerate unlike a computer. So most of the people will just play as it is.

But you can tell the difference between 4K30 and 4K60 for sure. Imagine 4K120  sweat.gif

Yeah actually console ppl don care, cos pc owes got got option to see fps, now every game also got that option lol. When u see the number u will feel something, then u will tempted to buy new gfx card 😂 tats y i stop upgrading my pc since i5-2500k gtx760 era lol.

This is my worry also for if buying series s.. i guess i shud hold the temptation lol. Cant accept to play something inferior when i already have bought lg c9 ready for next gen. Thats y felt like series s is a side grade of xbox one x to play newer game, and without the disc drive. Good for those who wan to save money la.. for me paying around 1.5k and another 700 for life span 4-5yrs sounds well spent to me.

How i wish microsoft came out with a disc-less xbox series x, make so much more sense becos got gamepass ultimate, i don need to buy disc anymore lol.

So many scalpers on the other side, but not one for the Series X lol.

I really regret not ordering from Qisahn. Looks like I'll have to wait till next year for any of the new consoles.

Yeah I really thought Sony and Microsoft would've allocated more stock to SEA, but now it seems like they can't even make enough for the US market lol. Now I hear people who preordered on the Sony camp are getting calls about delays and february eta. If it takes that long to get new consoles, might as well build gaming PC jela haha.

I dont think you should play the series s on the c9. Overkill display for 1440p.

Relatively speaking its like having a 3090 on a full hd monitor. Neither is doing what its supposed to do 🤣

Hi bro, don't mix eArc with Arc actually sweat.gif

eArc is the latest one which utilise HDMI 2.1 right now which is the only HDMI right now that support 4k 120hz
