oh..  got quarterly sub also... so need buy 1 month GPU per month  laugh.gif  laugh.gif
some said 14days trial also can convert gold to ultimate?
3 months GOLD in turkey like $4+.... GPU $2+... so around $7 for 3 months , RM30+  hmm.gif
*
from what i read, trial will not convert to ultimate. existing account cannot redeem trial code.
you have cc for turkey store?

QUOTE(Kidicarus @ Jun 22 2022, 01:39 PM)
lol all this mental gymnastics.  If you can register your credit card and get the turkish GPU price then by all means go for it.  It's seriously not worth the hassle of buying and converting for such a short timeframe.

My 3 years US gold which i coverted to GPU also ended up at about RM25-26 per month after conversion.  So if you can sub at RM137 per year just do it.
*
agreed. thats why i plan to renew for 36months. the rate per month around that too.

Ooo we are talking about conversion. You can Stack and convert Gold to GPU again with USD1 but the caveat is you must not have any ongoing subscription.
Just googled a bit and it seems like GPU sub cannot be stacked without using gift cards?
If I have CC for Turkey store can I stack subscription from inside Xbox itself?
*
To convert XBL to GPU, need GPU one month, not trial.
And yes, can only do while not havw existing subscription.

GPU cannot be stack via xbox store. Its a subscription after all.
As using gift card to stack, im not sure.

We absolutely can stack XBL Gold via Gift Card, then convert it to Gamepass Ultimate by buying a 1 month Gamepass Ultimate subscription. This assumes you've previously subscribed to it before, and it expired. If you never subscribed to it before, you CAN convert it to Gamepass Ultimate by buying the Gamepass Ultimate trial. Whatever number of months of Xbox Live Gold will be converted 1-to-1 into a Gamepass Ultimate subscription.

from reddit.

Pay for 1 month of Ultimate. You can also redeem a code for Ultimate as that will do the same thing, although if you have had Ultimate before, make sure you're not using an Ultimate trial code.

https://www.reddit.com/r/xbox/comments/nqnz..._get_game_pass/

i subscribe and was cancelled. so trial no longer work for my account.

Looks like I have a definitive date when I can finally move from emulating the game on this:

to playing it natively on PC. Bonus? It's  on Game Pass too, if I can juggle off some games on the XSX.

October 21st. Marking my calendar when I can finally remove RPCS3 off my PC. P5 is the only game I emulate and play regularly that's on a platform I'm not willing to invest in (PS) and on a console I've long got rid of (PS4, yuck!). Time to consolidate everything under one platform. Steam. Home rig AND portables. October 21st.

Persona 5 Portable dreams is still alive! On Game Pass too! rclxm9.gif

played P5 on RPCS3 too. using company laptop at that time, so become P5 Portable. tongue.gif

Too bad no portable XSS.

Finish SMTV in ryujinx. Hard to grind.
P5 like sony exclusive, SMT is nintendo exclusive.

Payday means finalizing those Steam Summer Sale purchases. Waiting till today nets RM25 cheaper price reduction on top of the already discounted price.
Should I wait longer till 8th July for more surprise price drops? Or price might just hike back up to normal? just like playing the market, stock or crypto.

Not really "wow", if you get it thru MSRP unscalped way. In fact it's the most "meh" PC out there in terms of specs and processing power, my Z13 runs circles around it. Maybe "wow" if anyone manage to navigate through the twisting world of scalped Deck and manage to get one at MSRP, while living in a third world country where Deck isn't released/may never be released officially. If that is the "wow" for, then it's valid, lots of legwork and lots of patience.

If the "wow" is for paying through the noses up the brain for it via local Malaysian scalpers, then it's a cynical "wow" I suppose.  tongue.gif For 6499/6999/7999 of the local currency, you would indeed say "wow" cynically. lol.gif

Sorry late reply, too many new Steam games to install and play. rclxm9.gif
*
wow because deck is rarer than PS5.
yeah the spec is meh, but the portability is so tempting.
not gonna buy thru scalper, the price is too high for that spec.

just recover from covid. during quarantine, no energy to play game.

The Deck rarity is artificial. Portability is tempting but AAA games runtime is highly dependent on how ugly you can tolerate the game to look to extend the battery life. Ugly as in lowered resolution, lowered framerates, lowered quality settings. All in the desperate attempt of prolonging battery life away from power outlet. Battery tech needs to catch up with the rest of the techs on the Deck.

I guess KJ's warning about COVID next wave outbreak has some merit. Coincidentally, my brother-in-arms in USA(my Steam Deck only source) caught COVID too, he contracted if on his fishing outing with his Jeep-modding buddies, now still quarantining himself in his Mason City home. He's just glad he's not going insane bored with quarantine taking his freedom away (we all know how Americans value their freedom), thanks to his Deck. These days I dont care or have the energy to care what others do to stop COVID spread or prevention. Can only do what's good for myself. Everybody now in "self-survival me first" mode anyway. Minimize going out unless absolutely necessary. But that kinda defeats the purpose of owning the Deck, unless you consider wandering around your home playing your Deck as "worthwhile" lol.gif.
*
battery life really bad eh?
seems like need to wait for deck 2 or something better.
at least deck can run AAA games, unlike switch.

6-8hrs using the Deck as a Linux PC, nothing process-intensive other than web-browsing. 2hrs gaming on AAA games, you can stretch that to 4hrs if you're willing to game at uglier settings (lower than native res, 30fps framerate lock, Low in-game settings).

And can run Switch games, made hassle-free easy by EmuDeck. No point wait for Deck 2 for battery improvement if the SoC in future Decks kept getting more powerful and power hungry but battery tech still Li-Ion. End result? Forever tethered to power outlet or powerbanks. Easiest way to see is, watch the smartphone scene. Once people stop carrying powerbanks with their phone while gamingon them, then it'll the same will be for Deck. Enough battery life for gaming to last the day outside and away from power outlets.
then maybe cloud "is" the future. using weak hardware and stream AAA game directly to mini/portable device.
as you said above, unless future SoC is not power hungry (usually its not, but this is x86 we talking about, not ARM), portable gaming pc will not gonna be on the same level as smartphone.

Then I rather stick to the format we had long before the Deck came in and tried to fix, but not entirely succeed in fixing (if it even needed fixing at all) .

The laptop format.

You will have to pay me to entice me to use GeForce Now/Stadia/Luna/ShadowTech. For the kind of games I play, latency is very forgiving, but still jarringly felt. I rather play native games at lower frame rates with LFC on, settings turned down low, etc ......point is, natively playable than anything streamed.
*
i mean not now la. maybe in far future. As MS with cloud, sony with PSN, google with Stadia, amazon with Luna, Nvidia with GeForce, even switch have cloud title for their switch.

laptop format always win if compare to that portable PC. the spec is better, but still need to tether to plug.

meanwhile, console in front of TV still serve me well.

FH5 on Z13 running on battery, 900p Low settings with dynamic resolution scaling, headset plugged in, brightness 50%, Xbox controller either wired or BT. I get close to 4hrs runtime.

Imperfections of Low settings are less noticeable on smaller screens like Z13's. The same trick Steam Deck uses with Low settings on its 7" 800p screen.

Experience with these devices makes you appreciate running games at poor man's specs on portable and then switching to full power 4K 120fps at home on desktop PC. Two opposite ends of the graphics whore spectrum. lol.gif

how can you accept the low res and low frame, when you already experience 4K120? tongue.gif

QUOTE(toytoy @ Jul 13 2022, 11:07 AM)
Since we are on the topic of cloud gaming. I decided to give Xbox cloud gaming another try and to my surprise it has improved a lot. I mean miles better compared to last year when I first tried it.

Previously I would say it's totally not playable. Input lag was crazy bad. But today I tried again using South Korea, Australia and US server. US is still considered laggy, South Korea and Australia is good.

First I tried TMNT and there were no pixelation and no lag. I am using DS4 over bluetooth to my Mac and using Safari. Really no perceptible input lag.

So I thought maybe TMNT don't require much processing power so I changed to FH5. Previously when I tried, it was very pixelated and driving game cannot tolerate any input lags.

But look at the video below. (Sorry for the bad quality) Taken using my phone. I m going left and right on purpose. See the thumb stick movement against the car. It's really playable.

Skip to the end when I do small adjustments on the thumb stick, can see the input lag is really acceptable. Can't wait for cloud gaming to reach SG. it will definitely be better.

*
nice video. input lag improvement mean a lot for future cloud gaming. any news if cloud gonna come to SG soon?

in the mean time, i only try remote play to android phone and chromebook a few time, work well.
it even work when i am 500km away from home via mobile internet.

Inb4 "you're outside, do outside things", have you seen how shitty things has turn out post-pandemic, outside of your home? Both in human behavior and services/options for enjoyment available outside in this third world country?

understand that. but still, when you experience ultra quality 4K @ 60fps above then somehow experience the same game, but super low resolution with sub par 30fps... gonna have inner screaming

Low res low settings on small size screen, you can get away with lots of ugliness. Ignore the numbers (res, fps), just drink in the small screen visuals.

maybe you can try deck and another device that remote play from XSX.
compare the view of small screen quality. brows.gif
as my tv is not OLED, when remote play to OLED phone, can feel the true black quality biggrin.gif

Did that with the Fold 2. Not to fond with the latency and the way games feel on that, gave up on that.

OLED phone wont be able to hide macroblocking and pixelating when bandwidth gets restricted, especially in public, then have to start yelling "Get off the network!" to random people. lol.gif

The problem with game streaming, you're never in control of the quality, you're at the mercy of the quality of the network where the stream occurs. Trust me, I was the biggest proponent of game streaming once, got the Shield Portable (still have it in storage) just to try Geforce Now in its heydays. I'm sure things are better now, but I prefer native over anything streamed.

Even my TV shows I cancelled all of them, Disney+/HBO Max/Netflix, I get my shows sailing the high seas only because I get to enjoy them natively. Kills the excitement when stream cuts off half way through an episode or movie. And everyone here saw how excited I was at first with the prospect of streaming shows and movies the second they're available. Other thing, I'm a "give me everything or dont give me anything at all" kinda person. Nothing halfway or half measures. I guess I'm a Sith, I deal in absolutes. lol.gif
*
always the day one user yeah? rclxms.gif
yeah, it all still depend on the network quality.
usually i stream xbox locally (home network), just to feel not restricted to TV.
so the quality is good enough and so far no major input lag.
but if using mobile data outside, pray the connection will not buffer or suddenly 4G LTE become 2G.

i tot you subs to all? now become yarrr again? hmm.gif
but yeah, nothing beat native. This is the way.

You're wrong.

What a lot of people don't realize is that the PS5 intentionally reports the battery to be lower than it actually is. When you get the "battery is low" notification, the controller is only at ~50% charge.

Why does Sony do this? Because it prompts the user to charge the battery at that level since Li-on is best charged at that interval level to maintain long term battery life.

Try using your DS5 after you get the "battery is low" notification, I guarantee you'll get another 3-5 hours of usage time out of it assuming your battery isn't damaged to begin with.
*
so 50% usage without notification nagging battery low, and the rest gonna keep getting "battery is low" every few hour?
i dont have DualSense, so i dont know. just asking.

last time im using DS4 with my laptop, if battery low, simply plug in the cable. sit not far from laptop and screen.

now using xbox controller with laptop. if low battery, either swap or remove battery then continue using wired.
