Unlocked? No point if locked coz TM gonna restrict what can and cannot be installed.

Simple business tricks. If you own a company, will you allow your customers to bypass your own restriction via the supplied device? Definitely no right. Same goes to them.

The company will always find a way to restrict their device. Haha.

You are right, just that when I saw the box pix, my expectations arises. Hoping can install Apple TV, Netflix and perhaps HBO GO app. Anyhow, I’ve terminated my hypptv and now looking at replacing my normal tv to a smart tv.

Yes, just like what they did with the current box.

Don't expect much from tm. their fibre service is good for me, but their iptv service seems outdated and lame for me.

Hello everyone. I tried searching for my issues but couldn't find anything probably coz of wrong keyword. So here goes.

My TM onu Alcatel Lucent i240g only have the LAN 1 led and TM logo turn on. I've done several reboot but it's the same thing. Link and auth led never lights up. So now I couldn't get internet.

Any idea what's wrong? Thanks in advance.
*
Fiber optic splicing (may be detach/broken) at outside your residence or a faulty btu. I've face this issue before.

Hi Guys

Applied for 300M 2 weeks and the installation was today.

May I know what is is the advised speed that should be achieved for wired and wireless ?

From stock device via mobile phone, i'm getting download speed of 235M and upload of 46.5M via ookla speedtest. Meanwhile for fast.com speedtest, I'm getting around 250M-260M. Can these be accepted ?
*
Answering towards your queries here my friend, the supplied ISP's router regardless the brand and the model, you should be able to easily hit 300Mbps via Ethernet back-haul and 300 Mbps over wireless as well (it depends on your settings, distance between your client device and the router, congestion and the strength of the wireless signal emission from the router - only possible via 5GHz) and ≤ 100 Mbps for 2.4GHz band.

Hi Guys,

What  ASUS router is recommenced for UNFI 30Mbps ?

ASUS RT 86U is not overkill ?
*
*Legends: (FE) = Fast Ethernet 10/100Mbps & (GE) = Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Mbps

Starting from a lower tier, the RT-N14UHP (FE), RT-N800HP (GE), AC1200G+ (GE), AC1300UHP (GE), AC58U (GE), AC59U (GE), AC1500UHP (GE) and AC66U

I would strongly recommend you to opt for AC router instead, an entry level of ASUS router should be fine. thumbup.gif

Hi all guru, may I ask where you guys put your modem and router?
I’m living a double storey house around 4850 sqft, downstairs living room TV maybe go for Astro, upstairs living room maybe go for tvbox, I’m in master bedroom on desktop computer.
*
I place my router and other networking gears inside an enclosed server rack located in the middle (upstairs) of the 20x70 double-terrace house.

Guys hope you don't mind me asking this here?
Wta is the internet quality of maxis and unifi the same?
*
Best way, doing your own personal research through their respective social media platform and give importance towards negative comments and do your own informal survey (verbally maybe some yumcha) by asking your taman people of the ISP, they're using currently and how is the performance, especially during at the peak hours and the package (e.g 100Mbps or 300Mbps) type and the max download speed they can achieve.

You also must give importance towards the type of equipment these ISP gave you, how to maintain the networking gears (third-party gear compatibility without much effort, plug-and-play) and many more.

You can refer her for further info if you need.

You can only use other's experience as your good guideline towards a better experience on having contract with the ISP's for the next 24-months.

*
It seems you're using a DIR-615 router (first-generation unifi router) - Source: y500,

If you wish to upgrade to a newer router, I would like to advise you to invest some cash to buy a better router out there. I don't and won't really recommend you to opt for ISP's stock router due to poorly coded firmware and only will be acknowledged by the ISP's when there is actual security breach found/encountered by the cyber-security experts out there before a quick fix over the firmware is issued.

Hi there my friend, I seen you have trouble picking up a right router for you to replace your current ageing router. You can buy your own third-party router at any IT shops, I prefer you to buy through shopee. If you're planning to take a cheaper wireless router model, I can suggest two major budget brands over here, D-Link and TP-Link. Their entry-level Wi-Fi 5 or 802.11ac (in general term we call it as Dual-Band Wireless Router) is quite cheap. You can head to a few reputable online reseller such as OOKAS to buy a unit. Recently, there is a Trial-Program offered by the seller with minimum fees. Just stay away from ISP routers due to poorly configured code and poor security issued updates. As for your problem, you can refer to a few setup guides on how to setup the router for first use by yourself. So you can save RM53 in the future if your home network goes wrong.

P/S: Well, just think this forum as a learning platform for you to expand your knowledge in networking field for your own future reference and no one is noob over here.

It seems you're using an old alcatel-lucent ONU (modem) and the ancient dir615. My advice, you can cancel your current package and subscribe again to get a newer equipment with 24months contract or you can request to TM to change the BTU (Modem) to a newer one and router (if you decided to use the stock router again). Try to see your luck. biggrin.gif

Do you have new equipment  picture  for the home  unifi ? I call tm once  last year about change the equipment   they say if your BTU still work will not change  but the route  can but 24 month contract.
*
I am using my own third-party router. The newer modem comes with a black elegant case. For standard home users, you will get a modem (model varies for the place, certain place will get nokia like mine, certain will get huawei) and a really basic AC1200 router, the supplied router model is D-Link DIR-842, TP-LINK C1200 and some may get the Netis router.

TM is improving these days. So they're one of the best fibre provider for landed currently although they're the dominant fibre company.

My another cousin using unifi lite with that router, playing mobile game keep disconnect, until i give them a tplink repeater, and suddenly no more dc problem.
*
In general, most ISP's supplies a pretty standard router, so no complaint on that. For power users, they will opt for a better wireless router with more powerful processing power.

QUOTE(judehow @ Feb 4 2020, 02:16 PM)
Agree.  That is a good sign
How many user is using and do have the hyppy tv too?
*
They used to be troublesome during their early days, but now, they are improving. I don't face any major problem at the moment, worst to worst, my BTU once went kaput before solved within 8 hours with a new BTU replacement. Well for me, they are okay.

Haha, I was a fan until they EOL some of the AC routers, namely the C3150 and the C2300  vmad.gif  vmad.gif
*
TP-Link Archer C2300v1 launched somewhere around 2017 year along with the C3150. However, when I go through their official MY site, my god, there is no
C3150 and C2300 in display. Well atleast I managed to find a link, for C3150 and C2300. Going through their site, the latest C3150 revision gets its last
update on 26-09-2017 (US) and the little brat receives its last firmware upgrade at 03-09-2018 (US).

QUOTE(wanttobuylaptop @ Feb 14 2020, 01:46 AM)
merlin firmware has even more feature than stock
plus recent update already can enable aimesh
66u still selling like hot cake due to aimesh compatible
and asus will keep supporting aimesh compatible router one
*
I have to agree to this. Well, a happy user of AC68U with Merlin here.

[attachmentid=10427621]

I used to recommend ASUS routers although some even labeled me as an "ASUS ambassador - brows.gif ", but I always suggest good products to the people and they do deserve the best for their long-term investments.

What the?? I didn't received the firmware in 2019...And also the cpu is slower and slower, now i change to redmi router...haha
*
You have to manually look for the firmware every-month or two weeks in interval. I always head up to asus-merlin site to check twice in a month to ensure I am running the latest firmware issued for my router model. There is a reason in behind why most router manufacturers didn't embed this feature inside their firmware. You can expand your knowledge on this further over here. However, if you're power user, you can use this update notification script, only if you're running asus-merlin fw in your router although the developer states that the support for the model has reached its EOL status a few months ago. However, if you're using RT-AC66U_B1, you can flash AC68U firmware to it - Source.
