As on now, the muxes on 682 and 698MHz in JB area remained operational and there is no interference on RCTI and Trans TV transmission. Since the retune information isn't published at all on official social media/webpage of MYTV Broadcasting, I assumed that the retune will still be done in the future, but after the end of MCO period (which we won't know when it will end).

MYTV had assumed that the MCO will be completed at 14 April back then and was than planned for the retune on 17-19 April. It is simply too risky to retune during these times as some will be completely cut off from the latest information for Coronavirus and also nobody can give help for retuning these sets.

Not sure how the MYTV box function but I know my previous TV (Panasonic EX600) and current TV (LG C9) had function for auto update the Programme List, they is no required of re-tuning when channel frequency change. Even my 5 years ago DVB-T2 Box also have this function.

I think this Auto Programme List Update is very common and I believe most TV or DVB-T2 Box is having such function.
*
Recent TV sets/ DVB-T2 converter boxes do indeed have auto update function, a fairly common feature nowadays (usually enabled by the TV/boxes by default) so when a new service becomes available on DTT, the TV/converter boxes will auto pickup the changes and retune by itself as long these TVs/converter boxes could "heard" the signals from broadcasters.

However for MUX frequency changes, it is recommended to retune the TV set instead as some TV sets/converter boxes may not recognise the changes done by the broadcaster (can be caused by weak signals and more). Remember the chaos caused by MYTV when RTM channels were moving from MUX 1 to MUX 2 and also an HD upgrade for TV1, TV2 and TV Okey, until RTM was forced to introduce short term SD simulcast for TV1 and TV2 on MUX 1 (a new TV multiplex at that time which most TVs/boxes wasn't tune to it)

The only thing left is them to get their own mux so that all 5 channels gets proper HD like RTM.
*
HD upgrade, I think may only happen for 8TV and Drama Sangat (if this channel enters pay TV platform and have purchased drama for airing) even if they wish to upgrade to HD. I don't see the value for NTV7 and TV9 being upgraded to HD especially when these 2 channels has low rating and airing teleshopping all day long.

RTM channels doesn't have universal carriage on Pay TV even when the channels are broadcast in HD standard. TV Okey on Unifi TV, and for the sport and news channel in all paid platforms.

Note that there would be some technical adjustments/maintenance for the satellite receiving modulator (TVRO) for the transmitters listed above (which is feeded by satellite) on 1-3 a.m., 16 May 2020. There are no frequency changes. However, if you are receiving terrestrial television signals via these transmitters currently and having issues such as missing channels on your TV/set top box after the technical adjustments, it is advisable to rescan the TV/set top box. A rescan should restore all service in the usual place.

There is no news and this is not related to digital terrestrial television service retune due to 700MHz clearance on Johor Bahru and Dungun area, which would be done on future, likely after the CMCO or a determined date selected by MYTV.

An insight of the unlaunched Awesome TV progress:
*
A good sign that this channel will launch soon, at least on terrestrial TV and live streaming. Hope that after all, the overall quality of terrestrial TV programmes will improve as a new player is coming so viewers will not need to endure by a choice of shopping channels. Just do not make it like a shopping network, as this CEO has done before on NTV7.

This sentence (highlighted as bold), is a little too early to say  tongue.gif  tongue.gif
At the end of the day, it's a free-to-air station. If they wanna earn money, home TV shopping is one of the good ways.
*
Yup, it is too early to say for now.

Agreed that shopping TV channel is a good source of revenue for TV broadcasters, that's why Media Prima, TV Alhijrah and Astro all have dedicated channels/slots for that. Too much of that kind of programming (on the main channel) and viewers will run like what we see on NTV7 and TV9. If they wish to have one, it should be a dedicated 24/7 shopping channel.

Anyone in seremban? Can recommend what antenna to use?
*
Outdoor UHF antenna should be good but I don't know what kind of antenna is recommended in your area. Try pointing to Bukit Tampin (frequency 546MHZ/562MHZ) for digital TV reception in Seremban area as the supposed mast for the Seremban area, Gunung Telapak Burok doesn't have digital terrestrial transmission.

Thanks to CJ WOW SHOP, "GM HD" mode (GM stands for Glenmarie) is now available on Media Prima channels, on testing on TV9 a few moments eariler. Formerly, when "GM" mode is in use, the picture quality will degraded significantly even when Sri Pentas wasn't equipped with HD play out. Captured via Tonton livestream (1080p).

I think the "GM" stands for Glenmarie, is it?
Media Prima has a backup broadcast transmission at Glenmarie there, if I'm not mistaken.
*
Yup, GM stands for Glenmarie, the former HQ of NTV7.

Media Prima indeed have 2 sets of playout systems, which one of them (main) is on Sri Pentas while another one (backup) is on Glenmarie which is very recently upgraded into HD, as we saw here.

With "GM" labelled on the feed it is easy for Media Prima to check where the playout originates.

I see that "GM" indicator appear once in a bluemoon like earlier what you saw.
Why they wanna "test" like this? In case Sri Pentas one total system failure, then the Glenmarie one can take it as backup?

Well, we don't see Astro put such indicator if they would to do such "backup"  hmm.gif

----

Also, I notice NTV7, 8TV and TV9 are still airing programmes during midnight on digital TV and Tonton, while NTV7, 8TV and TV9 on Astro will appear colour bar and test tone during midnight.
Any idea why like this even till today? Why is it the ones on Astro didn't simulcast and continue airing its programmes during midnight?
*
Correct. In case if Sri Pentas fails then Glenmarie will take over as backup. I won't know why they are showing "GM" however.

---

Don't have Astro so really cannot know what is happening there. Can I have a video on what is happening and what time it is happening on Astro? Interesting to see why that switch can happen even after digital switchover when this shouldn't been happening at all on Astro after all. These channels still show the full schedule on Astro.

The kill switch was implemented on analogue TV on 2019 so that the transmitters will "close" eariler (despite many transmitters remained up, like Gunung Pulai, for 24/7). Negaraku broadcast was broadcast during when analogue TV is "closing down" for the day. In fact all Negaraku broadcast had been stopped on all Media Prima channels since this year and NTV7/8TV are slammed with colour bars after closedown (regular programming) without anything. Unifi TV/playtv@unifi did not have such issues on the said channels.

https://content.astro.com.my/channels/NTV7-93
https://content.astro.com.my/channels/8TV-115
https://content.astro.com.my/channels/TV9-48

For instance,
NTV7 shows Transmission Ends on 1.30am until 6am daily.
8TV ends from around 2am till 6am.
TV9 ends from 12am to 6am every weekdays except Fridays and weekends, which appears to be 24 hrs.
*
NTV7/8TV closes on its usual time.

TV9, although it was 24 hours on DTT, IPTV and Tonton it was written as close on Mon to Thurs.

Attention to all DTT viewers in Johor Bahru and Bukit Bauk, Terengganu.

Turns out, MYTV decided to remain Mux 1's frequency of 682MHz instead of restack to 650MHz  hmm.gif
Only Mux 2's frequency will be affected.
*
Yup, finally. Interesting to see only MUX 2 is affected while MUX 1 isn't.

Yea, but that was analogue TV era...
On DTT, those channels are still on air showing some repeated programmes.
Separate feed? Why leh?  hmm.gif
So when it comes to Indonesia's analogue TV station,
Once Mux 2 left from 698MHz, Indosiar is now cleared from interference smile.gif
But once Mux 2 is on 650MHz, it will affect RCTI channel 🙃

I wonder, why not MYTV just restack the frequencies to 482MHz, 498MHz or 514MHz???
Analogue TV already switched off, so it shouldn't be an issue....
Why die die also must squeeze around 6xx MHz to interfere with Indonesia and make things complicated?
*
The first one is interesting after all where separate versions of a channel is shown on different platforms when it was in fact, only needed for analogue TV (gone). Complain about the issue to relevant authorities and companies.

If these 2 frequencies are to be the permanent frequencies for MYTV digital TV, moving it to 482,498 and 514Mhz would be a hassle for MYTV to restack twice on Johor area. (which based what I seem, quite easy to done and even simulcast as MYTV are using a 3+1 system for their transmitters) There are no suitable frequencies other than the existing low UHF band option.

An update regarding the reception quality of MYTV MUX 2 channels in Johor Bahru area.

Pic 1 is on 698MHz (existing MUX 2 signal from Gunung Pulai + Skudai)
Pic 2 is on 650MHz (MUX 2 from Pelangi transmitter) (which I don't expect it would be receivable in my part of JB. Transmitter power for both transmitters should be high - very high to combat foreign interference)

According to MYTV, Pelangi transmitter could be received as far from Kulai, Senai and Pasir Gudang, while Skudai transmitter could be received as far from Pontian and Kukup island. Since many terrestrial viewers in Johor Bahru maintains separate antennas for Malaysian and Singapore transmissions due to different directions of the transmitters, MYTV transmitters are strategically placed in such a way that Johor Bahru viewers could somehow receive good quality signal using outdoor antenna pointing to either Gunung Pulai or Bukit Batok transmitter, depending to the area. It is also meant for better quality reception indoors in JB area.

Please retune to 650MHz, if reception is possible or when signal is gone, as 698MHz will no longer be transmitted very soon. Interference may be still possible from Indonesian analogue transmissions in some areas.

recently bought Hisense TV come with built in DVB-T2 tuner & portable outdoor digital antenna, when scan can receive all the malaysia and singapore channel. But the problems was when i switch off TV for a day and switch it on again, all channel will be lost and i need to auto re-scan again to find the channel. if i switch off TV for few hours, the channel still there, but if switch for a day, mostly the channel will lost and need to re-scan again. Problem on the TV or portable outdoor digital antenna?
*
Should not be related to antenna in this case. Refer to your TV manufacturer for details.

How's the 650MHz signal readings now at your place there in JB? Is it the same signal readings as 698MHz previously, or slightly higher?
And also how's Indonesia analogue TV reception for RCTI and SCTV at your place now?
*
Reception of RCTI and SCTV is no longer possible due to the interference. Weak reception of RCTI was possible when MUX 2 is on 698MHz.

The signal readings has slightly increased for 650MHz when compared to 698MHz due to slightly lower frequency band.

You're still connected to your condo's centralised antenna, right?
Did you try buy/use an outdoor UHF antenna to see if reception improves?

I will attempt TV reception on my mother's friend house as he plans to replace his damaged TV and also TV antenna which has unstable reception. (he lives in landed property)
