Well basically I didnt get motion sick as well
(Which explain why I like using alien in AVP PC games tongue.gif)
Anyhow, the compliant from me is not about the motion sickness, but rather towards the shaking degree of the movie.

For those who is motion sick, like some of my frens, they are green pale after the movie, puke a few time, and i really kesian them, cant blame them, they like monster movie but not this way.

For those who is healthy enough to watch this movie like me, i think the real concern is being realistic vs the acceptable value of a normal move goer who wanted to appreciate the movie himself.

The whole movie is shaking even when they are in a calm situation, nevertheless, is realistic, ppl cant be calm if they are in emergency situation, and not to mention, Hud is not an expert user of the cam. So here is where all the realistic comes in.

But in the other hand, the realistic had surpassed the acceptable standard of the movie to be appreciated by the viewer. I had no ideas how many of the movie goer who actually go for the movie but do not really like it. For me, the shaking of the whole movie from the start till the end is the biggest drawback of the movie. For once, I wonder if the cam doenst shake so much, but still filmed in this kind of technique, it would be much better! Yah its might not be that realistic anymore, but I dont think ppl will be complaining that "Hey why the camera doesnt shake furiously? Wasn't the situation is so tense? How come Hud can be so calm one?" For better excuse, they can just simply made Hud and expert cam user rather than an amatuer.

Anyhow, the movie had been done, some like it, some dont like it. Some even suffer from it. Is a gret movie nevertheless, just that it could be better. smile.gif

So... it means it's name after a street in NEW YORK... isn't that real enough? Are you calling me stupid?

The first time when the monster attack, do we know where it was? Duh?

I can imagine a name and if ever J.J. Abrams came up with a name for a monster, it probably even sound not real and suck big time...

Yup... because it was on and off most of the time... as I said, once get dizzy, they didn't focus much... can't be blame... only when they are focus, then only can understand the realism of it (except that bridge where everyone is evacuated, that one is a big blunder)

Oh... there is a less than a second splash on the ocean near Coney Island... the thing is... that one is more of speculation... nobody knows what it is... some say like this and some say like that... even the pics... I don't know... some say monster come from the sky (me say that too), some say come out... don't know which is which... but why is there a splash remains a mystery...

I rather wait for the DVD to come out (original) and watch the documentaries and commentaries of each scene to get a better idea from the creators themselves...

oh found it! Here's the explanation :

It was the Tagruato Satellite. It fell out of the sky and while trying to retrieve it the monster woke up. JJ Abrams said himself that the monster had lived in the ocean for thousands of years and that it this was it's first time on land.

Interesting stuff.

Yeah... but adding that in the film will give more speculation to those who don't know about it... good finding...

I think the best answer as to where the monster origin is... "Cloverfield: Kishin" the manga... just wish someone can translate it

Mido_Ban... obviously you think this is a monster flick... but the story is about 5 friends and their last recording of what happen to them. I posted a second review a while back and finally understand what this movie story is... you probably say its lousy because most of the time you were dizzy and can't follow the story well... I too was like that at the beginning in my first review when complain about it... but reading the positive reviews have make me watch the second time... and this time, I manage to watch it with an open mind and was not dizzy...

Everyone expect too much... problem is because of their expectation they don't know what they are watching... and why want to know monster name when they (the 5 friends) all of a sudden got attack by a monster they don't know about... more like the monster attack the city they were in...
*
Abit dizzy but i manage to stay until it finish...Before i watch this movie i did not have high expectation also...Everytime i finish watch a movie with my friends we will go discuss in a coffee shop about which moment is the best...But this movie we discuss why the helicopter have to fly almost the same way with the monster and make the monster to have a chance to attack the helicopter down, secondly imagine if a monster drop down in your city and is as close like the cloverfield, will you still carry a cam to continue recording...For me i will either stop record and run or either abandon the cam and run...Thirdly is there any cam can survive from a helicopter crash and the battery isnt abit too long to record non-stop for so long and doesnt even show low batt...Last thing the girl name beth can really survive for so long without medical attention (and a helicopter crash) <== I dont think batman can survive it...

My conclusion is those factor that i mention... viewer dont like it at all and they think is "stupid" although not a bad try by using cam view for the whole movie, but again not many will like it...

The thing is your average movie goer will want to see the hero successfully win the girl and kill the big bad monster in a stylo way , maybe like a flying kungfu kick to the monsters weak spot that they discovered but no one believe them one.

Agree on your conclusion... actually the helicopter is moving away... just that the helicopter and the monster is side by the side... remember when Hud was screaming during that time when Lily flew off first then the monster attack? The helicopter was very nearby the monster... maybe it takes time to flew off I don't know... but you know how military personnel is - they take orders. Fly to that coordinates... so they fly to that coordinates given...

On regards of recording... yeah, I understand what you mean, I would stop recording... but during 9/11... did you know so many people were filming? Even when the World Trade Centre collapse, they still record using their handphones (the toursit use their camcorders)... I guess they want to film the entire thing of what's happening...

About the cam able to survive the crash and all... I totally agree with you. It's so impossible how that camera (drop so many times and the worst is the helicopter crash) can be so durable all the way... but about the longer lasting battery, actually it was on and off most of the time during recording. If you notice there are some time lapse missing there... means the recording was on and off most of the time... come to think of it, how come the recording was on when Hud was unconscious after the helicopter crash? Another blunder perhaps?

Oh Beth? Suspense belief... even Batman was injured like hell in comics and yet can survive... chuckle...
