im more concern about lag, camera and overheat issue.
or should i wait for realme x or x2.
but looking for spec, im pretty sure the price should be around 1.5-1.8k
my budget for phone only around 1k.

I have not read much about overheat issue from reviewers. I would have bought R5Pro if it were not for the IPS LCD screen. I'm eyeing on X2. There is not much I heard from youtube reviews complaining about overheat issue.

Mi 9 lite 6/128 is at Rm1099 (import set) on shopee.

But unfortunately we dont even know if Xiaomi will bring this one officially or not.

Edited: Another plus point of 5 pro: it support EIS on front camera. I think its pretty rare for midranger to have this feature. Good for people who love vlog.

Don't hesitate. had a C1 the basic 2g/ 16G and it was smooth and no issues. camera was so so but purely performance wise great phone. now with higher specs it will be a good one.

and the battery life was fantastic. no point having 10x zoom then battery dies.

Having pixel peeped 3pro vs 5pro main cam... I end up liking 3pro a bunch more...

3pro is sharper without over sharpening effects with good color in low light whilst 5pro is generally brighter with less noise and better dynamic range

Can't go wrong with either

I'm eyeing for realme xt actually, super amoled screen, dolby atmos speaker, unfortunately theres no news that it will become available here in Malaysia. Even Realme X also didn't make it here.
Other models that nice are X2 and upcoming X2 Pro much more powerful.

I had a lot of thought about this and decide to get the Realme 5 Pro as I'm budgeting around RM1K.

Yes, it has IPS LCD, but I like avoid potential burn-in on the screen, faster finger print scanner, and most important a camera with Sony IMX586 sensor.

I'm confused between Realme 5 vs Realme 3 pro. At the moment, both are selling at RM799 (R5 4/128, R3Pro 4/64). It's a no brainer to get the R5, right?
Hoping R3pro will have lelong sale when clearing stock.

But Realme 3 Pro runs Snapdragon 710 with 16MP camera while Realme 5 runs Snapdragon 665 with 12MP camera, so maybe some of the reason why old Realme 3 pro price can be on par with Realme 5.

I see. The photos from R3pro are comparable, if not better than those of R5pro, from what i saw at gsmarena. But 8/128 does look interesting. However, at RM1099 for R5pro, there are mind boggling choice of other phones to choose.

Realme 3 Pro sensor is Sony IMX519, which is probably why it is good. Same sensor used on Oneplus 6T.

Sure got many choice at RM1099, but try to find other brand with such specs.

Agree on the specs. Actually as recently as one-two weeks ago, I thought Realme was a sub-category of Xiaomi phones doh.gif

I also not familiar with the brand only recently knew it is sub brand of Oppo, another brand I'm not famliar with. However the praises I read Realme got from reviews convinced me to give it a shot so what the hell. My last phone was Asus, had Samsung, Nokia and iPhone so I have no loyalty to any particular brand.

Probably. XT is Realme 5 Pro but with Super AMOLED and 64MP camera.

Idk about others, but the main reason I'm even contemplating buying realme over xiaomi is its price.

Is there any possible 5pro would reduce price when xt launch? Plan to take 5pro this week or maybe should wait for next week.
For xt, I watch review say even thought the camera is 64mp, 48mp camera from 5pro is better.

Edit: btw, this phone got volte or not?

Maybe because smartphone not really powerful to utilise high mp of camera.
I have try 5pro and honestly I think 12mp from my mi5s is better.
But I really need new phone now since my mi5s is semi dead (lol

S amoled screen and on-screen fingerprint is really tempting but I dunno it's worth or not to pay 200-300 more for that since the camera is weak

Its all up to you and see what concerns you the most.

For me, good camera (especially with Sony IMX586 sensor) and also I don't like the idea of potential screen burn in using AMOLED screen (experienced it before), although AMOLED does save battery life and it is brighter than IPS LCD.

Also XT from what I read have a slightly larger screen than 5Pro.

I was also hoping to see 3 pro 4/64 being discounted after the launch of 5 pro. Unfortunately, the price is now even higher at RM899 (was RM799). Looks like they want to push the sale of 5 pro.

I tried play around with the phone, why the phone seems slow?
I mean you try open the apps, scroll the apps, it doesn't feel fast like Mi9T.

The Mi9T processor (SD730) is faster than Realme 5 Pro (SD712)

Try compare it to Realme X2 (SD730G) which is coming maybe December but I think that unit will beat Mi9T especially in gaming.

I would take xt if 1299. But 1399 is too pricey since upgrade only screen and camera (which is quality worst than 5pro)

Agreed, would have taken it if its priced for 1299, 1399 kinda steep for the spec. Might as well take mi 9 lite only 1199/1299.

Realme 5 Pro update:

user posted image

So far update went well.

Dark Mode is nice added feature but won't save battery for LCD screen like on Realme 5 and Pro.

Not realme 5 owner, but have a question about oppo a9 2020. No thread or forum for it yet lol. So here the question goes.
Does anybody here have problem of phone getting laggy if using earphones to listen to music? No problem when listening with speaker.
Example of problem registering touch and changing the playing song when scrolling song list. Regular apps become slightly less responsive as well while doing this.
I figure i should ask here since a9 2020 uses same chipset and same mother company as realme 5.

I'm actually quite confused with this quad camera. This phone equip with 48mp main, 8mp wide, 2mp portrait and 2mp macro. So

1. When I open the camera, got ultra 48mp setting at the left. So which camera actually it's use if I didn't select ultra 48mp?

2. When I taking video, which camera it's use?

3. Portrait mode is a pic with blur background rite. So it's only use 2mp camera? Why can't it's use 48mp camera with this function since my mi5s single camera can have this function.

4. I still don't know what can macro camera do compare to main camera.

Well, for wide camera, I can feel the difference so no question about that. This is actually my 1st phone with multiple camera so at least I wanna know it's worth or not I pay for that camera.

Local music. Funny thing is if i listen to it without plugging in earphones, everything is fine. Tried a bunch of earphones too, including the one in the box. All have same issue.

By default it use 48mp sensor but when capture photo the image will be going through a process called pixel binning, which means photo you end up will be 12mp. Process itself is to help improve photo quality.

You can capture 48mp photo but at the expense of file size bigger and probably image not as good as 12mp.

QUOTE(renyyz @ Oct 31 2019, 11:38 PM)

48mp lens but when switch to ultra wide video, it use the wide angle lens (the one with the yellow circle around it).

No. Potrait still use 48mp camera but in portrait mode it uses additional lens to sense depth (Time of Flight lens) so it can give you better blur effect. That 2mp sensor isn't really a camera to produce image.

QUOTE(renyyz @ Oct 31 2019, 11:38 PM)
4. I still don't know what can macro camera do compare to main camera.
Macro take photos close up (4cm) but the quality of photo it produce is not great and some say you might as well use the 48mp lens and zoom in.

That depends how you going to use that phone as a camera. Just go out, take photos, and see if the end result makes you happy or not. Make sure you learn enough about the camera features and its limitation.

What if you try different headphones? Did you try using bluetooth headphones?

I just tested with wired headphones, did a bit of scrolling, browsing. I don't hear any laggy sound or stutter. MP3 plays nicely.

Better u go to the service centre and have them check the problem , its seem like the earjack socket problem ?

Have u try restart the phone or try to close all connectivity like using the flight mode and see any diff. , or try delete the cache memory of the phone unsure.gif

Dont have any bluetooth headphones so no dice there. Tried in the box earphones, a jvc xx and samsung akg note 9s, same laggyness in the ui. The sound plays perfectly though so really no idea whats going on. Even turned on high performance mode but still the same.

So far i can still live with it so taking it to the service center is not in the cards for now. Thinking of trying some cheapo bluetooth earphones first to see if its better. If it is better, then maybe just going wireless is the way. 😂

This is a tricky decision.

Realme Pro 3 isn't bad with its higher RAM (4GB), better camera (16mp), newer CPU (SD710).

But Realme 5 has bigger battery (5000mAh), bigger screen (6.5"), 4 cameras.

I would say, for me, 3 Pro because I want more RAM and better camera.

Not to say poor but not full HD like R3 pro. Correct with Gorilla glass being 3 on R5. So use tempered glass for extra protection.

Even with other brand cable but original charger, you won't get the benefit of VOOC flash charge as the cable is specifically designed to run at 5V 4A which typical cable aren't able to do so.

So the short answer, no.

XT is a bit more on the premium side, front/back glass, super amoled(IPS LCD for 5 pro), UFS 2.1, but same cpu and 64mp camera compared to 5 pro 48mp.
For me 5 pro is more for value conscious user, that doesn't need all the premium stuffs but want a relatively good all rounder phone.
and XT is RM300 more expansive than 5 pro, so really up to u.

How does the R5 stack up to the RN8?
Is the main camera decent like the RN7? Saw some video reviews and it seemed like the Redmi's were better but I'm not sure if updates could have improved it.

So far using the phone more than a week I am quite happy with the performance of R5Pro. No crash or slowdowns, didn't even need to restart phone. I think the 8GB RAM help with the performance. No regret buying this phone for the money.

I never paid attention to SOT. All I know is a charge from morning can last me till next day. I use telco data most of the time if I am out and at home will have use Wifi. I keep my Wifi on all the time. I don't do much gaming, only youtube and web browsing.

Update not sure how frequent. All I know is I have one update this month (Oct 5 security update).

guys, im eyeing this R5Pro and RN8Pro.
from your experience, how does ColorOS compare to MIUI? Im using RN3Pro currently. felt MIUI clogged storage easily with whatsapp and whatsapp backup stuff.

does R5Pro heat up with 2hours and more gaming?

Hi, I used miui years ago, and I just got a realme 3 pro with coloros 6. I would say I like the is quite well. Haven't yet saw any advertisement, which is quite a lot in miui. Not sure how's miui nowadays. Just started using coloros for few days, not deep into it as I still using my iPhone as main phone, where this realme 3 pro as my entertainment machine.

saw on youtube they said after new update, the market place show ads on ColorOS.
MIUI also got ad that can be turned off, but the clogging really worries me. whatsapp app got data files 2GB. and after a week, another 2GB. seems like the backup but the previous backup not deleted, im not sure

so you're not missing the MIUI? brows.gif

I don’t realise the ads on the market place. Wait me back home only check on that. Travelling at the moment only bring main phone.
The Whatsapp thing I not sure. not using that on my entertainment devices. Only on main phone.

Missing MIUI? Hmm. I still own a Mi Pad 4 which runs MIUI. And before this playing with EMUI. Guess that I am not kind of person who are loyal to any OS as I just installed Nova launcher on all devices and make them operate similar. Of course here and there some differences due to the UI itself.

I believe you won’t be wrong getting either of the devices. Personally I would prefer snapdragons over others. What games do you play most? Maybe also consider the heating issue of the MTK

I using this Realme 5 Pro (8GB+128GB) for like 2 hours only before I pass it to my mom in-law because transfering old file/backup/data from old OPPO F1s. I can give some simple hands on reviews.

I start off with 0% and charge till full 100% using the VOOC 3.0 Charger, and I'm dam impress with the speed, heat. In short, like other reviewer said, is fast from 0% to 50% in less than 30min, it doesn't generate as much heat on device like other Qualcomm QuickCharge capable device. I was using continously with screen on doing backup/migrate/installing app for the 2 hours. Non stop, no heat, no hiccup, no slow down of charging. I have to say VOOC/Dash Charging (OnePlus) > Others Fast Charge technology (Qualcomm/Samsung/Huawei SuperCharge)

Others is just like any other Android phone, no much to comments. but the ColorOS does need to give some feedback. There are few annoying things, I can't delete the dam Game App / Fake Folder (or freeze the system app) As you say, is full of stupid promoted/sponsored games/app inside. I have to make a "Rubbish" name Folder to put all 3-4 of the App/Fake Folder into it.

Theme Store are just like any other fancy OEM. But this freaking OPPO/ColorOS/Realme removed the Stock/Pure Android AOSP theme from their theme Store. Dam. I have to side-load it using some youtube tutorial.

DualSIM + Dediciated MicroSD Card + Headphone Jack (No FREE headphone) + Silicone Case in the box + Screen Protector (PreApplied), SIM Ejector

Design/Handling: 8
Performance/Speed: 8
ColorOS/Software: 5
Battery/Charging: 10
Display: 7
Camera: 7
Value for Money: 9

Verdict: Please buy this over the other Xiaomi/Huawei Mid-Range or OPPO overpriced phone if your budget are between 900-1000.

after another overnight research, I finally found a video that do the most plausible comparison.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1S_dVb4gn0

and yeah, Mediatek does heating up a bit on another video, and that really concerns me. its a new phone, and heat easily although not overheat. in the long run 2-4 years, that heating will become more and more because of the thermal will run out over time n over usage. made up my mind to stick with snapdragon as my experience with RN3Pro 2016-2019, it is actually a dependable chipset

thanks for your thoughts, hopefully one day Im able to afford two devices at the same time, one Iphone and one android. I left the iOS train after my days of Iphone3gs and Iphone5. I might be back because the efficiency of iOS. but my bank balance wont allow me for the time being lol

i found this latest video that really helps. the comparisons are on point

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1S_dVb4gn0

I may need to pay attention to that ColorOS rubbish, maybe some people know how to bypass/handle that

Thanks for the insights. I am really on a budget of RM1000, if i have more, i would just wait for the Realme X2 Pro. but i must stay within the budget. this phone definitely value for money. and I wont wait for Black Friday, Cyber Monday or 12.12 for this. gonna buy it first thing on Monday

If need 8/128 get 5 pro... haven't seen a 3pro discount worth considering over the better 5pro yet

64 is OK if you manage junk n backup on the cloud...but more importantly 4gb gonna be limiting soon if you're a power user or gonna keep longer than 2-3 yrs

The iOS devices now need some deep pocket to afford. Not to say that othe flagships are cheap, but mid-range/budget devices now are doing very good. I still using old iPhone 8 as I am using find my friends feature for me and my wife.

I do watch some reviewers mentioned and tested the thermal throttling of the redmi note 8 pro. Forgotten where already. Maybe a big deal for gamers. I think the processor is capable, but the cooling need improvement

Type C > All

Thats why I been holding not to buy Realme 3 Pro during launching.
When all families member live under the same roof are using type C, you can type everything, from powerbank to PC to table. Even you have iPad/iPhone can use Type C to Lightning.

What did you end up with? I'm eyeing for sub rm800 phone for senior citizen. Redmi Note 8 seems tick all the boxes. Was thinking of A3 but amoled is fancy and replacement would cost ⅔ of its price.
Hope MIUI won't be a problem.

What did you end up with? I'm eyeing for sub rm800 phone for senior citizen. Redmi Note 8 seems tick all the boxes. Was thinking of A3 but amoled is fancy and replacement would cost ⅔ of its price.
Hope MIUI won't be a problem.
*
I bought the Realme 5 Pro at the end. Paid around RM910. I could have wait longer for discount at RM870.

Reason I buy Realme 5 Pro over the Redmi Note 8 (non Pro)
1. VOOC 3.0
- Is proven better fast charging tech than Qualcomm, faster from 0-50% in less than 30min, less hot, can charge during use and wont throttle the charging speed.

2. Snapdragon 712
- slightly better than the Redmi Note 8 SoC, Qualcomm SD can give faster update for ColorOS as proven previous track record that using Mediatek.

3. 128GB base storage (the 8GB RAM is a plus)
base storage the more the better, you know all senior wont know how to manage their storage, the more the better to store good morning picture or voice note.

Others feature I no mention here, is because you already know is similar to Redmi Note 8. Like Quad Camera, Type C etc...

yeah, true. it was bummer that Note 8 Pro opt for Mediatek SoC. I have use 2 Mediatek SoC Redmi phone from the past, all ending up late/slow or no update at all.

no. I have not faced any issue. it's a good buy. Color OS has it's haters but I don't bother with all that. As long as it works for me is what matters.
Heck, I had no problem with Samsung UI either when using the Note 9. But battery life was poor.

i placed my order this morning

realme5pro = rm935
oppo a5 2020 3/64 = rm619

could get better phone but i had to split my budget so that I can replace my mom's samsung j7 old phone. give her a taste of multiple camera, fingerprint sensor and stuff. i bet she wont like ColorOS but no other samsung with the price range and specs compare to that oppo. was comparing it with MI a3, vivo, realme 5, ended up with a5 2020.

i lean on snapdragon more than mediatek although the helio gt90 still new and untested for prolong use, but as my experience with redmi note series, phone will start heating up, battery drain after 2 years. and then the replacement battery at the shop also not original, same look but only lasts 2-3hours with normal browsing, socmed. i imagine the "liquid cooling" in rn8pro wont last long.

and both type C lol

Had a quick check. Looks comparable to Redmi note 8(non-pro variant). Notable difference I would say is screen resolution.

i found this latest video that really helps. the comparisons are on point

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1S_dVb4gn0

I may need to pay attention to that ColorOS rubbish, maybe some people know how to bypass/handle that

Thanks for the insights. I am really on a budget of RM1000, if i have more, i would just wait for the Realme X2 Pro. but i must stay within the budget. this phone definitely value for money. and I wont wait for Black Friday, Cyber Monday or 12.12 for this. gonna buy it first thing on Monday

Dun worry bout colorOS, its getting better.

ColorOS 7 will be closed to stock Android

There's no news about Realme X2 coming to Malaysia market yet. Do u mean Realme XT? I bought mine couple weeks ago, so far it's excellent.
The battery life is really good, the phone is fast and snappy, with Super Amoled display. The only qualm i has with this phone is it doesn't support widevine L1.
So no HD viewing in Netflix, i hope they will put it soon in later updates.

The X2 is only for Europe AFAIK. XT was released for Asia/Australia. Dimensions/specs on both are the same except for 730G vs 712.

Difference is the cpu and X2 has NFC, 32mp front camera and faster charging adapter (30W VOOC 4.0).
The rest is the same.

Import set can get for 1.8k for 128gb model.

So the price difference with the op7t about 100 ringgit.

OP7t is RM 2599  and only 8GB + 128GB

Plus realme camera is always better than one plus

say u got 2399

will you bet on OnePlus, quite experience in fine tune software/fast update (near stock somemore), or realme first flagship phone? 90hz screen is tricky to get it right, look at google pixel 90hz

asus rog is at 2nd cycle

bigger mp not necessarily means better quality.

for info, ap set OnePlus 7t is aroun 1989, while rog 2 is round 2208, they are ap set of course but look at the savings.

imho they should introduce the 128 variant, make it around 1800, then it will be a hot sell.

That was the mistake Realme did....everyone was waiting for the 8GB/128GB ROM and was left dissapointed. That was the turning point. Teased Master Edition red bricks also useless already since price for normal version is already at 2399.

i agree, the 128 should be introduced here instead of 256, or just intro both versions

it would be the cheapest 90hz snapdragons 855+ phone.

Real curve ball by Realme. The hell only introduce the 12G here!?
Should include 8/128. Are they market testing I wonder.
Disappointing. They were truly proper mid-range now taken a bite of the apple.

I think every other phone maker wants a bite in the premium market. The question is are consumers willing to pay premium if it's not an Apple, Samsung or Huawei?

rog phone 2 cost about the same

OnePlus 7t more superior device

Rog2 cost the same? Isn't it more costly? I dont care 90Hz or 120Hz, as long as above 60Hz. I think X2 Pro beats Rog2 given how much cheaper it is plus it looks like a normal smartphone with quad camera which is miles better than Rog2.

Oppo and Realme basically are like xiaomi and redmi. I dont know how OP 7T is a better device.

It's just Google messing up with consumers. I dont know why they want to intro variable refresh rate when everyone want 90Hz and above.

yes, like it said, about the same, u can try search up in shopee

having quad camera or bigger pixel does not mean miles better camera

rog 2 got massive battery, tons of accessories, and it's their 2nd try, vs first try in realme

u mistaken OnePlus with oppo bro? they might be sister company, but OnePlus ain't oppo/realme

At first I felt 2399 was quite pricey for a Realme. but now the mi note 10 with SD730 comes at 2099 the X2 Pro seems not that expensive anymore..

I personally don't think ROG2 is anything to shout about unless they get the pricing down below 2500.

Why I said X2 Pro is better as a phone because it has more camera which you may use compared to just 2 for Rog2. It also has way faster 50w charging hence I don't really see a big deal with having a smaller sized battery. Yes, Rog2 went all out but is that what people really want? In the end, smartphone soc will be outdated in a year or two. Since these brands have literally no resale value, by then, as a phone, you're more likely to stick with the more reasonable X2 Pro than the gaming focused Rog2.

I have been using Samsung for a very long time even during their touchwiz that was hated by many. Personally I'm not a fan of those mili seconds faster launch or whatever. I don't know why people buy into all those close to stock Android. For me, it's just the raw performance when gaming or doing heavy duty stuffs that matters. Not those silly slightly smoother UI. I don't have those OCD.

Yes, I mixed up Oppo with OP, my apologies on that.

u can criticize all you want for rog 2 or op7t(told u to search rog 2 in shopee, its below 2300)

in the end, they eventually sales better than 2399 x2 pro, user here aren't stupid to fall for that price,

like i said, they should have introduce the 128gb for around rm1800 then it would be attractive

now they step into the flagship level, and honestly, not much to offer , and they are new player.

if you feel that x2 pro is better buy, go ahead and buy it, i will respect your decision.

lets stick to realme 5 discussion and leave this thread alone

I don't think there's significant difference between both phone for daily usage provided firmware was well optimized for both phone. However, gaming performance could see quite a bit of difference.

As for the charging speed. I doubt you can take advantage of full 30W especially in Malaysian weather unless you're in an air conditioned room as the charging speed will be throttled after reaching certain temperature.

So far quite happy with Realme 5 Pro performance. I don't recall the unit ever lagging and battery often last more than a day (based on personal usage).

Really nothing to complain about, the Color OS works very well too. I think I barely comment on this thread because the phone rarely has any problem.

Its now becoming a X2 discussion thread, and yeah, selling 12G/256GB variant is not so smart decision by Realme. 8G/128GB should be the sweet spot.

Just pulled the trigger for the Realme 5 at midnight - RM649 for the 4GB/128GB variant. Decided I'll try ColorOS on a cheaper phone first before considering their flagship. Other than the low res screen, are there any other quirks i should be aware of?

No la, I'm aware of the other alternatives, but the purpose is to try ColorOS. Didn't go for the C2 coz I was thinking of eventually passing this phone down to my kid and the 5000mAh battery will do nicely for his Pokemon Go smile.gif

i would say depends.
what you use the phone for mainly?
if lets say you watch a lot of videos, i don't think you will be having much issues, unless most of your videos are 1080p and above.
i tested the realme 5 3+32gb from 11.11 for my father in law, and i don't feel much issues. maybe i dont read too much on the phone.
yes, can realise some pixel here and there compare to my iphone 8 plus or other fhd+ smartphone. again, depends on your usage.
if read a lot, better go for fhd, else, it just do well for entertainment - movies, games, music - massive battery life

I saw at 10-plus pm just now, both sold out. Then green colour left one. I guess someone cancelled the green. Now it's zero again, bought by you, I guess biggrin.gif

Congrats. It's a fine phone for its spec. Been eyeing this and R3 Pro (always sold out at chup stage) but realised I preferred front finger print reader.

It led me to Realme X at RM100x... Then Mi 9T 64Gb was going for 999 - better soc and no notch but no memory card slot.
"Ok, better top up a bit for 128gb, sekali rom not enough, don't wanna regret mah".

Since getting mi 9t 128gb liao, why not top up a bit for mi 9t pro 128gb? And that how I got self-suckered into buying mi 9t pro 128gb. Luckily I ran out of time (close to 12am liao, else might end up with OnePlus 7t pro.

Thanks. Yeah, realme 3 pro is a good deal too at 599, thinking to buy that too for someone gift but always miss, Now I'm using realme 2 pro 64gb, so realme 5 pro is a noticeable upgrade for me, will pass realme 2 pro to someone then.

I see, mi9t 128gb i a good choice also, nice screen and design. For me if got 1k budget better get mi9t also rather than realme xt, but the rm999 mi9t only 64gb and no sd slot is a turn off, need at least 128gb if no sd slot.

Exactly my thought. To get the 9t 128gb macam not worth it compared to 9t pro as price difference not much.

Having said that, my 2.5 years old redmi note 4 still has 11gb space left, out of 64gb rom. It's a slippery slope lol.

No, quite a number of it can't be disabled or uninstalled.

Am glad I didn't pull the trigger for the X2 Pro instead, hahaha... That said, this phone's battery life is amazing. Can easily do 10 hours SOT.

For the first time, I had to use adb & fastboot to remove some of the bloatware. laugh.gif

I have to agree with the battery life. It was one of the main reason (and price) why I choose to get it. Else, I've would have gone with redmi note 8. tongue.gif

Guys, any recommended outlets if wanna see Realme phones in the flesh? Tried Googling and the results are either Direct D or the pop-up store in Pyramid.

Is there any other stores in Klang Valley area?

Thanks!

But that said, the overnight battery drain is only 2% (over 8 hours) even with all the bloat.

Impressive. thumbup.gif This is something the Note 10 could never hope to achieve. Im starting tp think these mid range chipsets are not as power hungry as the top end ones.

Those fellas will tell you "You cannot compare a Kancil to a Ferrari" laugh.gif My question to them is when both the cars are not being used and are both just taking up space, so why does the Ferrari drain more petrol than the Kancil when both are idle? Hahaha...

Lol. Both of us know that you don't need so much processing power and ram for our normal day to day usage. Unless you are utilizing your phone for gaming purpose, if not you would rarely use up to 70% or more of your processing power of your chipset. biggrin.gif

So what are your first impressions of the phone bro?

Truth be told, I can’t stand ColorOS, it bugs me more than One UI laugh.gif

In all honesty, not bad for the price........ Smooth UI and big screen. Large 5000 mah battery too. Quad Camera. All for Rm6XX. Nothing much to complain about. nod.gif

Yeah, it's by no means laggy but I still find the bloatware in ColorOS a little too much! But battery life is really impressive. Even on dual SIM, my standby battery drain was just 2% overnight.

I wasn't brave enough to go with the purple one, hahaha. Went with blue instead.

I’m using it with maxis and the GPS lock is fast and stable. Better than the Redmi Note 7 which I have as an office phone.

MAX 10W charging on MicroUSB port is a bigger deal breaker to me than the HD resolution screen on Mi A3.

Well, there's an option called minimum width under developer option. It increase the size of the icons on home screen.

If that is what you are looking for.

Can't compare, the moment you zoom in you can see it's far noisier than photos from flagship phones. It'll get the job done for social media posts, but beyond that you'll want a better camera on a phone.

Dear all,

This is first time I bought Realme phone (5 pro) for my mother in law. Her previous Motorola G5 Plus battery is bloated hence the change.

I try to download the Clone Phone all for Oppo in G5Plus for transfer the datas into new phone but unsuccessful. I googled and watch YouTube where the clone phone app keep on showing "no latest version available in this phone" during the QR scan failed. How do I connect to the hotspot link?

Your guidance is appreciated.

Tq in advance.

The problem is with the phone you are using to connect, not the Realme. Try deleting saved wifi connections on the said phone and it will work.

Film type. In less than a month mine already scratched like no tomorrow. Difficult to find a tempered glass SP in a retail store though (coz I prefer to have it applied for me)...

If you get the normal TG, its quite easy to apply. Just make sure you align it properly before letting it stick. I did mine myself for my tab and turned up pretty well.

It still adds a little too much contrast/colour to it by default even with the latest updates that optimized camera quality. I normally have to edit mine to tone down the colours a bit to be more natural and I am using the X2 Pro

Sold off my Realme 5 this week. Other than being a real marathoner with exceptional stamina, the phone is mediocre in every other aspect which is to be expected for a budget entry level phone smile.gif

The screen resolution, the camera and the OS is full of bloat to name a few. Still, it's a good entry level phone for the price.

I agree on the camera part though. It is a little buggy. I used the camera for an event last Sunday. Took a lot of pictures, then the camera started to become buggy. After snapping a picture & you immediately try to snap again, the shutter icon will have a round circle showing 'processing' before you can snap a picture again.

To those with Realme 5, is it good for old folks to use? I'm looking phone below RM500 so other brand also can suggest as long as its android phone.

It's a bit big and heavy. The resolution also not very sharp so may not be suitable if the old folks do a lot of reading on the phone. Other than that, the battery life is superb. Forget to charge also no problem smile.gif

I don't think old folks have sharp eyes to spot the difference anywau. The old phone already less than 720p but not a problem for them. Will look into it.

Realme C3 dont have fingerprint scanner and it use mediatek chipset. If price not much different compare with Realme 5 series better go for Realme 5 series.

Realme 3pro & Realme XT got android 10 (with Realme UI v1.0) update. Hopefully Realme 5 series get to update soon.
Realme UI is nice......big improvement compare with ColorOS 6.

hey,b4 i buy this realme 5 3gb/64gb is there any issue with the gps.....?any 1
i come from mi a1 and its gps locking is a hell.....
realme 5 now selling at rm480 official 3/64
realme 5i rm 550 4/64

i check my usage on a 4gb ram phone...in pic not even 3gb total

Personally I would try flashing custom ROM first before pulling the trigger on buying new phone. Mi A1 is a popular among developers. Surely there are few ROMs out there.
If it works, you'll save money from buying new phone. If it doesn't, well you got nothing much to lose anyway.

Is the 6GB RAM version really worth it for R5 Pro model?

Same internal storage as the 64GB version but topup to get 2GB extra RAM so, 64GB ROM+6GB RAM. hmm.gif

Anything bigger is always better when it comes to RAM. My 5 Pro runs smooth like butter with 8GB, and I think 6GB is still good amount of memory.

Not that interest in messing with camera unless the app show significant improvement.

You could use a type c to micro-usb adaptor, that what I'm doing when I replaced a faulty usb cable for an older phone.

I don't understand the context of your question. If you are asking about whether the charger and the cable have to match, they do if its a Oneplus/Vivo/Oppo dash charger. Otherwise if its the usual Qualcomm fast charging, the cable can be from another brand.

I am asking about the adapter, since I only found OEM one so far, RM2.

Not asking about charger or cable.

Sorry I misread your initial question. I prefer something from a good brand because the cheap ones might not be able to handle 2A. I think I got the ugreen one for about RM11.

Wouldn't recommend this phone if you're into a lot of portrait shots or selfies.

I gave up, I ended up with GCAM now.....stock camera app still too over saturated and etc. Really hit and miss, Realme should do something about it. (Realme X2 Pro user here and I feel all of us got the same issues) XD

Yes, not just Realme though, I noticed it's the same when it comes to selfies from the newer OnePlus 8. Maybe it's a BBK Electronics issue.

Open the App Market. You press that icon to scan QR code.

Silly way of doing it but it works.
