QUOTE(bluehippy @ Dec 25 2020, 04:46 PM) Hi. What I meant was if I had usd in Malaysia foreign currency account, can I transfer it to a cimb Singapore foreign currency account and what will be the cheapest method to transfer to ibkr once it is in a Singapore bank account? Currency is usd and not sgd. Thanks. These are very specific questions so I guess not many ppl have done this before. Best way is contact your bank. If you have USD in foreign currency account (FCY) in M'sia, just transfer straight to IBKR, why go to SG FCY?? One important point here, according to some ppl, CIMB SG FCY is useless because you can't transfer money out! So, no! You can't transfer money out from your CIMB SG FCY. |

QUOTE(bluehippy @ Dec 26 2020, 09:15 AM) It usually won't be considered as a local transfer if it's not in the local currency, i.e. SGD for Singapore. IBKR doesn't have a USD account in each and every country around the world. If SGD to SGD, then yes. That's a local transfer. |

QUOTE(genway99 @ Jan 1 2021, 01:47 PM) Hey guys, I found out that I can link my TW Borderless USD account to IBKR and deposit USD via direct debit. I tried it out by depositing $1 and the amount was debited directly from my TW USD account after a few hours. The money is currently on hold for 4 business days which is one of the downsides I think. so basically, there are 2 methods, one is connect a bank, one is bank wire. If we use connect a bank method, it's free to transfer from TW borderless account? I also tried to deposit $1 by transferring the money directly from TW USD account to IBKR. TW charged $1.05 for this and according to IBKR website, the money would not be on hold if deposit by this method, but they still hold it anyways for 4 business days. ![]() |

On my TW mobile, after I click the Bank Details, it says "Inside the US, direct debits aren't supported."
Does it mean you can't direct debit out to IBKR, or receive direct debit from other banks? |

QUOTE(solstice818 @ Jan 5 2021, 09:33 AM) I thought mine was not supported when I was using TW mobile. It turns out the new info is available on TW desktop webpage. I've managed to link TW to IBKR now. This post has been edited by moosset: Jan 8 2021, 12:08 PM |

QUOTE(genway99 @ Jan 7 2021, 05:51 PM) for both these methods, you went through TW USD account, right? That means, your money in MYR > TW (USD borderless account) > IBKR? So, it's not a normal fund transfer where you deposit directly to IBKR via TW, right? |

QUOTE(bluehippy @ Jan 8 2021, 10:35 AM) I am trying to purchase a stock on Chinext via ibkr. My funds are currently all in usd. Do I need to exchange to China yuan first? I can see I have buying power but I assume that is margin. Of course it is. Is ibkr the most cost effective platform to purchase stocks on the Chinese exchange? Not just the Chinese exchange, any exchange offered by IBKR is the most competitive, hands down! |

QUOTE(jflee @ Jan 11 2021, 11:35 PM) I realise recently quite difficult to login to IB Client Portal during US trading time. Anyone here experience similar problem? You guys use TWS or Client Portal? TWS. Client portal is just for portfolio evaluation like checking trades, fees etc and admin stuff like deposit / withdrawal. and no. Didn't experience any difficulty. |

QUOTE(wildshot_willy @ Jan 20 2021, 10:00 AM) HI all, maybe they haven't linked you previously? Should be $1.50.I am using IBKR TSG, and I noticed that my commissions per trade varies between USD0.35 and USD 1.50. Previously, when I bought the same share, same quantity at a similar price, the commission charged was USD 0.35. Now is it USD 1.50. Any inputs on why is this happening? |

QUOTE(jas029 @ Jan 23 2021, 10:36 AM) just sharing (pardon me if it's known/been shared).. the setup is only done on the ibkr portal right? or do we need to set up something on TW as well?with regards to deposit/withdrawal of USD, apparently there's option to move USD between TW (Transferwise) and ibkr for zero fee.. it made use of the ACH function, and act like a regular transfer between a US bank and a US company.. will first need to set it up and link ibkr with TW.. once done, then u're good to go the downside is, as mentioned in here before, there's a 4 day holding period for deposit.. probably a worthwhile trade-off (for certain users) for the foc transfer.. withdrawal is still subject to one free withdrawal per month just note again that this is specifically between TW and ibkr only.. probably useful for those who have USD balance in their TW USD account.. there will still be fee incurred to top-up USD balance in TW |

QUOTE(jas029 @ Jan 23 2021, 03:06 PM) yes u're right.. only set up in ibkr.. u'll need to provide the TW bank details into it I think I set up before, and IBKR sent me two small sum, and I entered those sum in my IBKR portal. I thought verified already. even deposit and withdrawal are also initiated in ibkr.. just maintain sufficient USD balance in ur TW account to do ur transactions.. eg. initiate a deposit in ibkr, it'll auto deduct from ur TW account.. obviously initiating a withdrawal in ibkr will transfer the fund to ur TW account But when I tried to initiate a deposit in USD, I can't find that option on IBKR portal. Is it because I waited too long between? After verified, I should have this deposit option in IBKR, no? |

QUOTE(jas029 @ Jan 23 2021, 11:15 PM) exactly.. the verification involved the two small amount credit to ur TW account and subsequently debit the total amount.. for me, once that's done then it's all good so far.. the deposit option should be shown as a saved deposit at that menu, characterized by the nickname u created.. if no, maybe try to re-set up again? debit? Meaning IBKR will take back the two small sum? They didn't take back from my TW worr..... how? |
