ARROGANT.

They probably wanna test our market first, and make it initially available to those "loyal users" first, so they will know the level of the demand here...

But little do they know is that there are actually many who wanna give them a chance and support their latest flagship product even with the US ban, and this gonna piss some people off...

I used P9 Lite, and currently P10, so how loyal is loyal though?

Bad strategy I would say, but what do I know about business lol?

Is there any concern to you. Don't like, just don't buy. Nobody is forcing you. Just don't come and condemn. I have no concern and I am happy to buy it. Is there a problem that concern you? Do I need your permission to do that? Don't come here and just force anyone to be like you. I am glad huawei did what they have done. That is me and I didn't go other phone thread to bash them. I don't go Samsung to tell them how much I hate them, I don't go oneplus to them them how much I hate them, I don't go htc to tell how much I hate them. I don't go pixel to tell ppl them how suck Google is, I don't go iPhone to tell how terrible apple is.

I don't see it as arrogance at all. Surely people don't expect Huawei to curl up and die. They would improvise somehow and adapt. Huawei is too big to just fade away and have too much at stake. Like it or not, they are here to stay.

I dont know what is the hoo haa. The person buying not complaining but those not buying making so much noise. If you are so worry, just don't buy. What the big deal. Nobody force you and this thread is for mate 30 user. Let us who willing to buy enjoy our phone and its none of your business

https://9to5google.com/2019/10/01/huawei-ma...poses-backdoor/

Fyi, as per the above link, the just taken down Lzplay APK app that has been used to install Google Mobile Services in Huawei Mate 30 Pro's EMUI 10, has been revealed by a security researcher to contain hidden backdoors in the OS. Huawei EMUI's hidden backdoors would not have been revealed if there had been no need for the Lzplay APK app.
....... So, it is very unwise for high-value targets of professional hackers and state-hackers to buy such OEM Android devices from China(= including Xiaomi MIUI, Oppo ColorOS, etc), eg enterprises, government officers, CEOs, CTOs, millionaires, celebrities, etc.

Buy them at your own risk.

Problem is many here think they are smarter users and probably even smarter than HW ?
Not all users need Google stuffs - eg my wife can easily do away with it
Just be happy if you think this phone meet your personal needs. Ignore all those doom slayers. Wonder what benefit they have condemning it?
Whether HW will eventually fail is none of my concern. There are other choices available

Sorry for offtopic but hows batterylife on 5t? I'm considering kirin 980 device either view20 or 5t but dunno which one to choose. View20 is cheaper for the 6gb model, got 4k mah battery but backpanel looks ugly. 5t are pricier since it only got 8gb model, got lower battery capacity but backpanel looks awesome. View20 only a year warranty vs 2 for 5t.

If most developers work with Huawei's App Gallery, then not having Google is less an issue. Probably wait & see.

The camera's amazing though. I guess latest smartphones are not far from premium compact cameras eg Sony RX 10 / 100.

I think Huawei is missing the bigger picture. Given that Google related stuffs is definitely not going to happen, it paved way for Huawei related services instead. If they could lowered the price of Mate30 and subsequent devices, they can introduce their own services and app store, they could have gain millions or tens of millions users who have to live with it.

Google maybe powerful for now but even in Europe, Google is already considered a monopoly, just like how Microsoft used to be. They are seeking ways to breakup Google as we speak. I think this is a golden opportunity for Huawei to dish out their own services. Yes, Huawei maybe considered a big SPY but only to US and those who are being pressured by them (Japan, Australia). I dont think Europe consider Huawei a big threat just yet.

Question : anyone knows how phone clone apps works ? Does it clone your .apk over as well to install it on your new device OR dl your apps from PlayStore again ? Cuz if it copies your .apk over to install , MAYBE we can have all the apps from our previous phone to trf over to the one .

I'm asking cuz i managed to trf my gbinsta over to my new phone last time , a 3rd party app not found in Playstore but that was during mate 9 or 10 era . Not sure if there's any changes to it now .

It starts to feel annoying with how Google is controlling the ecosystem. I had tonnes of Google stuffs that were pre-installed which I cant even remove. That is not much different from those bloatware that used to come with Chinese phones. Even Apple has start to open up and allow you to remove those unwanted Apple apps that came pre-installed with their devices.

I really hope someone could come up with an alternative to Google services so that I can move away from them. The only Google service that I used heavily is Youtube (yeap, not even Gmail). I'm seriously considering to go back to my Hotmail instead of continuing with Gmail.

I think you can use third party email apps to access gmail if you were to go into huawei ecosystem. Go search for comparison studies on third party email apps for details.

The real problem is youtube I think. because third party youtube apps may have risk of being banned from youtube from time to time. I am speaking as someone who has grown from earlier IOS, then Symbian, then window phone system, finally android. So I have lived under the shadow of kena banned for quite some time earlier.
