Yes, during my purchase mate 20x at 3rd party physical shop, they already help me put sim card and email into phone and tell me that i just need to wait for 2-3 days before the warranty is activated. Surprising, it already activate at night.

So, chill out. It takes a bit of time for the server to fixed the warranty for you. It will be a different story if you buy today, next week you still haven't received the warranty.

It is very common for manufacturer to put the default date of warranty to manufacturing date. Sorta like the industry practice. Please read the following clause from Asus:

This warranty applies for the period defined on the label sticker at the back of the Product (“Warranty
Period”). For example: 24M means 24 months, and 36M means 36 months from the date the Product
was first purchased by an end-customer (“Date Of Purchase”). If proof of purchase cannot be provided,
the manufacture date as recorded by ASUS will be deemed to be the start of Warranty Period.

And to the issue of whether huawei is selling refurbished unit as new, my opinion is that they wouldn't take such a big risk considering the fact that they are already in a very bad position and sales are declining. Doing such a thing will only add further damage to the brand and hasten the death of the company.

If you look carefully into all the attached photos here, you will realise many of them has not even insert the sim card yet. It might be the insertion of a sim card that trigger the system. Just my 2 cents.

Mine is new stock. That is why delivery takes longer. Not like some who got theirs first but claimed its a used set.

1) Do not update your phone

2)Try to find the latest installation method online

3) Install GMS and follow the steps closely (miss one step and it would not work)

4) Then only update phone and restore from older phone.

I think Here maps is available in the Gallery but not sure how usable it is in Malaysia. They have TomTom in Europe but it's not available here...

A smartphone is supposed to make our life easier. Isn't it? Sometimes i feel like buying something that required much tinkering really not worth the hassle. Haha

No worries. Just that you would need the latest GMS methods to work. Older methods might not work.

I'm using my phone without GMS.
The only Google apps I need is google maps & I've downloaded it from Aptoide apps store (3rd party).

So far location is accurate, but haven't go out to test.

I'm using without login to Google account. Maybe you can try.

Just visited a Huawei Service Centre and compared my phone to three other phones. As suspected, it's the same, the line at the edge is indeed light shifting due to the curves. Use dark mode, slap a black wallpaper and problem solved.

As for the warranty, the customer service explained that is the system warranty of when the phone is registered by the dealership. She showed me her computer screen - my phone was manufactured in Jan 2020, shipped in Feb 2020, and warranty in system showed not registered. She said it'll take about a week for it to be updated, after which it will reflect from the date the phone was first turned on. It's how their backend system works, and she apologized for the confusion. I was impressed by her professionalism (and she looks kinda pretty too), so all is forgiven, hahahaha

So I think in your case bro, the customer service agent could be a newbie or lacked the necessary training.

For me I'm not worried because there is a receipt. Whether its registered or not, they would have to honour the warranty from the first day of purchase.
