Hi,

Anyone install skylight on roof top so that natural sun light can be redirected into house.

Pros:
Have a brighter indoor environment without electricity consumption

Cons:
Installation may cause leakage on roof top

What do you guys think ? Worth to install skylight on roof top ?

Yes... natural light is good smile.gif

How much does it cost?

Better make sure the contractor does a good job to avoid leakage.

The price varies on the size of the skylight. Available sizes are 16x16, 24x24, 24x48 inches.
Price range from RM 1000 - RM 1600.

What do you guys think of the price?

For me, I personally like this skylight as i live in intermediate double storey house. Not like the corner unit, we can only obtain Sun light at the front and back of the house.
I would like to install skylight on the ceiling above the staircase towards second floor. Once installed, natural Sun light will be coming from side of the house. Really feel like living in corner unit. The center area of the house becomes brighter especially in the morning

Just sharing, there is a brand call Monier, but I think it is slightly pricey but the good thing about this product is that it can be open if required

I'm just wondering, can the sunlight be piped through something like fiber optics, or through mirror tunnels to more places in the house?

Why not just add clear roof tiles from your roof tile manufacturer? I believe most of them have already.

You need to deal with the ceiling also.

Well obviously. I hope people are well versed enough with physics to know that light will not transmit through an opaque ceiling. Or maybe I need to spoon feed all the information?

Maybe the people here aren't as well versed in physics as you, but I guess are logical enough to identify your incomplete solution.
