Check up iMod. It basically bypasses the internal amplifier and some capacitors, drawing pure line out signal from the DAC, so you can choose to hook on an amp of your choice. Jaben provides the mod actually.

U can't find a mp3 with great SQ with that budget. At least top up abit more to get a sansa clip+.

Philips tend to not sound bad. They're not the best, but there are others far worse. I think that MP3 player can also support FLAC.

^2 Gumstick has a Class A amp inside, the SQ is fantastic. I haven't heard the Sony or Transcend but if you're gonna choose one, give the Gumstick a try as well before you make a decision.
