QUOTE(nismo91 @ Jul 22 2009, 10:41 PM) 4x5 is quite small liao... but im not sure how S730 perform in small room, from what i know, its meant for medium room. Er, the 4x5m you mentioned there is it the space left for you to place the speaker or wut? but for sure, mx5021 is for small room. so if MX5021 is not lacking, S730D may just fits, or its too big. i've auditioned S730 couple of times, but only at shops. so don't know what is the characteristic. u can ask chingwooi about this though... haha cause most is below 1000 one liao... for <2000 the only choice is klipsch promedia ultra or z5500. but klipsch eol long time alredy... so maybe logitech. for htib, no idea from me... @Nismo, you're not pretty impressed by the S730D performance eh? @Coffee, you can consider the S550 or S750 as well? Not sure they're Hi-Fi or not though xD |

Haha yea, but to be honest, you need to pair the S730D with SC then only it'll sound good. S730D might not be the best but IMO if comparing with S530D, aego m, and MX5021, it's still the best among them.and, cause i saw in other forum, someone mentioned he cannot get a proper position for his new S730D cause his room too small. my verdict is that, it will be same case as ifi, need to put in big room to sound nice. |

haha of course... S530D and aego m is lower class liao...
anyway, the edifier that impress me in first looks and sound, S2000V. but unfortunately never seen any store selling... touch of class, much cheaper than S2000 (never met or listen). if i were to choose, at RM1000 : S2000V |

Actually S730 easier to find sweet spot than S530D, yes its true u need a good SC & EQ settings to suit ur hearing. Its totally different wut u heard in the shop & putting it on ur comp desk.and, cause i saw in other forum, someone mentioned he cannot get a proper position for his new S730D cause his room too small. my verdict is that, it will be same case as ifi, need to put in big room to sound nice. |

Of course it's best among them, most expensive what Regrading the room size, it matters more for 5.1 speaker, surround speaker totally can't perform well in a small room. |

i guess best setup for square-ish speaker like S730 is use stand to stack them higher or hang on wall (to ear level)
sub just place it in front of a wall with left right almost equal length like this: CODE _______________ o This post has been edited by ktek: Jul 23 2009, 11:09 AM |

For me, all pc speakers are for close field listening. Yes, dont pick too big speaker for your room because it will overpower the room.
You guys boost S730 bass to +6.... i already can feel the pulse at +0 |

Those should be clubber, they always look for bass more than clarity, that's why a lot of speaker companies make speakers with bass>clarity coz they know those ppl will buy it anyway xDYou guys boost S730 bass to +6.... i already can feel the pulse at +0 This post has been edited by chingwooi: Jul 23 2009, 02:07 PM |

the least of a good speaker set can do is to produce a flat frequency response.
there was a comparison between s550 & z5500 http://translate.google.com/translate?prev...history_state0= which measures the frequency response of both sets. i personally experienced that the smoother the frequency response, the better it sounds. mid range starts from approx 300hz to 5000hz |
