Anyone got any comments on the Razer Mako? or the Bose Companion 3? Planning of getting something for multi-purpose use  (music, movies and games).

Was considering an Aego M and Ibasso D2 setup but i think it is more suitable for music.

Do recommend if there are better options. Wouldn't want to regret spending this much.

Are you bass head ? What is your budget ?

Bose Companion 3 price is RM1.2k, RM1.2 you can get other 5.1/2.1 speaker like z5500, S550, S730.

Thx for the recommendations. Already looked into them. Not really looking for a 5.1 now as my room is not suitable for it (small and really cluttered T_T).

Not really a bass head. No typical musical preference also, i like to listen to abit of everything. The Razer Mako seems pretty interesting as i watched the interview of some THX guy explaining the science behind it. And also some other forum-er mentioned of Bose Companion 3 being roughly the same price as the Mako.

No one with comments on this two sound systems?

rm379 at sri comp at lowyat. cant give u an opinion as i've never heard one myself. but i dont think u need a 5.1 for music. 2.0 or 2.1 setup will do. i mean, even if u go to a live concert, the singers are only in front of u right? they're not all around u. 5.1 maybe better for game and movies since u can feel the effect all around u. watch Cloverfield in 5.1 in full volume and u'll get what i mean! u feel like like the monster is just beside u! instead of buying an expensive 5.1, buy an expensive 2.0 or 2.1 and u'll probably get better sound quality for music. it's only my opinion anyway, so try asking the others for opinion too!

My thought fr this speaker, if u are a 2.1 user this can consider high end 2.1 speaker d, some more i like the speaker design which is clear cut , with all the silver coating . Cause it wont season out in terms you plan fr long time usage. So if we are looking fr design this 1 is perfectly design out, like the Klipsh promedia gmx 2.1. Easy to suit ur PC color, and matching up too.

If you are a movie enthusiasm , go fr 5.1 speaker give u the best surround. Well if u like music a lot, 2.1 suit the best, cause no need fr a 5.1 speaker to hear all the surround thing fr music.

In terms of performance can rest assure, alot of review fr this speaker. Hope this can help u out.

Personally I find the Klipsch GMX a little overly too bright. There isn't sufficient spatial imaging from it.

Also the design might be difficult to match, unless you really don't mind the sats design at all.

Try the Creative Gigaworks T3 2.1, you won't regret it (if your budget permits), else for RM400, get the Edifier S330/S2.1M, my Edifiers have a Digital Input (Optical) so it feeds directly from my motherboard's Digital Output.

i just bought myself logitech x 230 after reading a staggeringly positive reviews from Amazon UK. Why UK cos these people are a hi fi connoiseur and they have more separates system than the rest of the world. So when it comes to sound system trust the brits.

Cheap, presentable, non invasive (small sized) yet superb sound and neat build quality. Im an audiophile so i have quite a few system at home as benchmark but i find that these small speakers emit a faboulus sound for my desktop considering the price. Forget sonic gear or ediifier, they look so ahbengs.U can also forget altec lansing or creative cos IMO, they look a bit dodgy but hey, we are all unique.

However, as alternatives, after days of extensive research online and visual inspections at Lowyat plaza, i found that logitech speakers are always neatly designed. In order to get best value for your $$$, these are the Price range and recommended system for a 2.1.

< RM150 - Logitech x 210 (rm129)
<RM300 - Logitech x 230 ( not 240 cos they sound worse and i mean a distant second than 230 - Rm160)
<Rm400 - Klipsch Promedia GMX (rm399)
<Rm600 - Logitech z 2300 THX (rm500++)

But Why spend more when you can have excellent sound from x 230? blush.gif they got the bass, nice treble and respectale midrange execution. Stocks in most shop in LYP are running out (they are oold speakers but logitech still produces em cos u know y) so you better hurry if you wanna grab one. drool.gif

You may want to audition them first before buying cos we are all unique in taste. Good luck.

If u compare this 2, which 1 will u go fr it just out of curiosity. Logitech x 230 and Klipsch Promedia GMX . Ya indeed x 230 is much more better then 240. I got 1 set of this 240 all in black color, get it new for just rm85. Really the quality compare to 230 really u can see the difference.

i have put best buys for each price range. For myself, i just want an unobstrusive 2.1 system with sterling sound quality but doesnt cost too much, hence settled for x 230. imo, physically GMX 2.1 is slightly bigger than the logitech. Soundwise, definitely klipsch is better but then it costs more too. It depends on the budget you are willing to spend and how finicky are you towards music reproduction. if you havent got any speaker system and want a good ones at RM400, go for klipsch. Otherwise, i'd buy x 230 anytime and save the $$$ for something else. i could buy logitech vx nano wireless mouse for the price difference between the two. Perhaps, the difference in sound quality does not justify the cost difference.

Its best to try to listen to both system n decide for yourself. Our preference and priority differ.

i believe that the sound quality is very subjective, i have auditioned both X-230 and Edifier E3100 before, but i found that E3100 certainly sound much better smile.gif although i do not agree that Edifier look ah beng, i agree about the Sonic Gear part tongue.gif lower end creative and altec lansing are never good to begin with (with ATP3 as an exception). again, those are just my personal opinion smile.gif

Edifier S2.1M/S330 selling for RM295 now (from Singapore S$125) this version WITHOUT the Digital IN. Only ANALOG RCA inputs.

With that price, the Edifier dethrones the Logitech for that price range.

This Edifier same specs is unchanged, 6 1/2" woofer etc.

haha, of course won't be going there to buy
but i am hoping that Malaysian distro will follow suit, slash price to RM295 soon in local market nod.gif
btw, audiophile = music lover, who cares what speakers he likes, as long as he likes the sound from the speakers itself wink.gif i have no comment as well if someone tell me that cap palang speakers sounds better to his ears compared to Edifier S330, sound is subjective biggrin.gif

Yeah I do belive some M'sia distro will bring in the newly priced Edifier.

I saw it with my own eyes when I was in SIN last week.

In fact, I bought the Edifier MP300 Plus 2.1 portable system for S$110 (RM 259) but this includes the super carrying case. I read in the Edifier forums that RM259 RRP but doesn't include the carrying case (USD 10). Since th Edifier forum locked out, I decided to take the opportunity to buy the speaker when I was there instead of LYP.
