I am planning to switch from Unifi and buy an IPTV box.
So far I've been eyeing for Tanix Tx6 due to good reviews and within my budget.

Example from shopee with pre-installed channels: https://shopee.com.my/%F0%9F%94%A5-Pre-inst...2051.2314174277

Anyone has experienced buying this kind of IPTV + the pre-installed channels bundle?
Is it worth it?

I bought 1 TX6 2 weeks ago and would like to share my initial feedback. Yes there are many channels but many do not work, as in they continuously generate errors and many require membership. Out of the 10,000 channels, maybe less than half are relevant to you due to language issue. I also had difficulties looking for steps to add new channels, maybe need to spend more time to learn to use.

Dont trust all the claim of 10,000 channels bla bla.. sellers took screenshot of the icons menu only.. only 20% or less actual channels will work.. all the claims of 10,000 channels are based on best effort basis.. sometimes ada, sometimes tak ada.. kah kah kah

.. there is no free lunch... u dun pay peanuts and get the world for free, reliable and smooth.
if so, everything collapses... so, u can understand what "free" means.
however, u can get adequate and decent stuff if u learn and do enough.

tanix is a fairly good brand, well known for low prices, decent hardware.
most popular is tx3mini (<rm110) - plenty discussed here:
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4722095/+380

tx6 specs look good, uses allwinner chipset, but had a reputation for getting hot, i.e. overheating... better google it, see if fixed by now.
other tanix models using amlogic dun overheat - tx3mini, tx3max, tx5max.

regret to get the tx6, overheat and the air vent is not on the bottom....before i use H96 max rk3328 almost same overheating problem over 90 but adding a laptop cooler can bring down to 60 - 70.......tx3 mini even not that powerful but never go exceed 65....mostly working around 50

now if i wanna change new box will target amlogic only

Haiz....

Thats why specs dun mean anything....better read/watch reviews.... and best, read comments from actual users.

Overheating is an issue mostly with allwinnwr and rockchip.

Much less or no complaints about that with other chipsets.

if just overheating no problem, problem is the box picture quality will drop/judder, worst scenario it will hang /freeze

Depends what the requirement, if want less hassle for latest movies/Drama, pay extra to get service provide, if budget constrain, go hunt you own apk, ton of that available on internet, setup you own and buy cheap decent TV Box.

TX6 is actually a low end spec box.. I have run antutu benchmark on gt1 mini s905x2 with 2gb ram.. the final antutu score is 59xxx.. the 4gb version scores 63xxx, while a tx6 4gb ram merely scores 45xxx.. for comparison, nvidia shield score 2xx,xxx for antutu.. tx3 mini scores around 3x,xxx.

Nowadays i saw lot of people complaining that their box is slow.. because they lack technical knowledge.. it is not the amount of RAM that you should be looking for.. it should be the CPU..

the port must be wrongly labeled...!

looks like a composite AV or 3.5mm audio port to me.

spdif optical, spdif coaxial look like this:

user posted image

most boxes today have only optical, only premium have both.

btw, tx3 mini and tx5 max have spdif optical port but not coaxial.

another reason why tx6 is inferior to most models alto it boasts of android9.

anyway, just ordered a new box with cooling fan build in - mecool m8s max

tired of overheating issue, although amlogic s912 is an old model chipset, but maybe is more suitable one for me

right... sometimes it's easier to get another box.

for basic common features, they r cheap... rm100, 200...

only when u want less common advanced features and extras will u need to spend >rm500.

s912 is an older chipset but is proven good in many devices.

personally, i avoid allwinner and rockchip.

I found one seller that sells TX3 and TX6 and I asked him directly whether TX6 got overheating issue.
And he replied yes, buy with own risk sweat.gif

At the end, I bought TX3 from him bundled with MYPADTV subscription rclxms.gif

Still waiting for the unit by PosLambat
