I've read a few threads but nobody seems to have made any comparison - Has anyone actually used Carsome, MyTukar or Carlistbid to sell their car?

I have to sell mine quickly soon when I leave Malaysia - of course not expecting retail price - but has anyone used any of these? Or others? Was anyone surprised as to how high - or low - their selling price was?

If you've used them - maybe you'd share hints and tips - and your success or failures?

I sold my previous ride, a 2011 lagi best myvi 1.3 Auto to carsome for 18.8k, which in my opinion is fairly reasonable considering the ease of transaction.

A tip is you can take your car to their competitor and get it valued, and tell the next competitor how much your car was valued and see if they can mark it up.

For my case, after the inspector at carsome offered me 16k, I asked him why so low since MUV (their main competitor) able to offer me 19k. After some negotiation, he offered me 18.8k. Matter of fact is I did not even get my car valued at MUV biggrin.gif

Tried testing the waters with Carsome last year and they gave me low-ball shitty price so then I just forget about them. Not sure about the others. Anyway I have sold one car just thru Mudah, not using any of those services.

In normal circumstances you're right - this is the thing to do - but as I'm leaving Malaysia - I need a car as late as possible - and then to sell it hassle free and quickly - so I do expect to sell it for less than retail price - but trying to work out which of these 'Sell you car to us in 24 hours or less' outfits are the best. Was it much of a difference percentage wise between what they offered you and what others were being sold for in the dealers? 30 percent less? or more?

The ones where you sell the car quickly with no fuss.... So you take a hit obviously on the price - but the process is supposed to be fast and easy....

I tried MyTukar, they placed my car in to the online auction after the inspection, the outcome is not so satisfied but much more than used car dealer.

The good thing is you can just test water, not necessary to accept the offer if below your desire.

All these car bid centers are belongs to used car dealers also, if you opt for sellout without entering bid system, they will offer you a price, most of time will low ball you, like how Carsome offer me 30% below market price.

You can test it once, and check out what is the time frame after the inspection, normally 2 weeks after inspection must place to the auction, so you can plan your journey.

30% is normal because they clear everything upfront and had to hold on to the cars for sometimes. Cars are depreciating asset so got to have bigger leeway in case get stuck in inventory for more than 2years.

I wonder can join bidding at Carsome or not. Buy for personal use

I would suggest sell the car earlier at market price and use the extra gain over quick sell for e-hailing or go-car. + piece of mind.

For cold door cars, you'll be lucky that they will accept your vehicle. Not to mention that they will offer super low price on it.

My experience

1st time was last year. Carsome come and check the car @ my place. They give me a price that acceptable to me. Actually a bit higher than other car dealers that I have asked for trade in. Give me 5 working days to decide.

After accept, set time n place to meet up. Settle documents, thumbprint n money was transferred within 10 minutes. Excellent πŸ‘πŸ‘

2nd experience.
Last week. Set time to inspection @ carsome puchong. Takes about 30mins for them to finish. As this is a continental car, they suggest to go for bidding. They suggest a range of price to start with. The range given was much higher than any car dealers that I have asked. They set to start bidding on this coming tuesday.

They have about 2000 dealers to view and bid. If anyone bid, i can decide to sell or not within 24 hours. They give 3 times. If no one bid for my car, I can bid another 2 times, but have to reduce at least 5% from 1st starting bid price.

Pray that I can get good value for the car as car dealers I have asked all give low value as it's a conti car.

All the best.

You need to be a registered used car dealer, and a deposit is required in case you bid for fun and don't buy.

You don't have much choice, give it a try, if the offer price is good, fast fast sell off...

I have tried to sell my 2013 Proton car on Carsome and Motorist.my.

Carsome offer me rm11k after inspection.

Motorist.my put my car on bid and I got RM13k. No need to do inspection, just sent them pictures of my car and they directly put my car on bid. Get the price on the next day.

Sounds like some positive stories smile.gif I went to Carsome - and they were friendly and professional - they checked over the car and wanted to offer me around 7k. I opted for bidding - but that didn’t bring anything - advertised in Facebook and found a cash Buyer - had a lot of offers around 10-11k finally sold for rm11250. So for me it was better to sell privately as I was lucky to find the buyer. I wrote an honest advert listing all the faults - so the new owner wouldn’t get any nasty surprises - and that helped to sell it smile.gif

Hi man,

I'm planning to sell my father's CRV through motorist.my as per your recommendation. What kind of pictures do they need? Outer, interior? Is their offer similar price as what would 2nd dealer sold at Mudah as an example?

For motorist.my, they will require clear photos of the car registration card (geran kereta), interior photos and 4 exterior photos (front, rear, left & right).
After 1-2 working days, they will come back with their offer, which is valid for 1 week (subject to viewing & testing at the buyer’s place or your place)

Tried both Carsome and MyTukar.

Carsome low-balled me so forget it. Didn't even opt for bidding.

MyTukar offers a much better price so I took it. Within 24 hours settle. Including money transfer and h/p loan is removed from my account.

Tips: Go to Selayang, got both Carsome and MyTukar inspection center within a single block. Very convenient. Just bring your car grant and spare key. Can just walk in to both.

MyTukar gave me better offer. So I took it. It depends on market value, but defo not as high as selling it to private hand.

I am not sure why you guys got such a good price.

I am selling my Vios right now.

Mytukar offer very low price.

motorist.my offer highest and reasonable but subject to viewing.

carlistbid.my offer ridiculously low price with stupid reasons saying my car got suspension issue, leaking oil and so on. When in fact suspension is super great like new. Leakage has been fixed long time ago. Giving all sort of excuses to press down the price.

carsome I yet to bring to them.

used car dealer, pending them to quote me the price.

I think I might sell the car myself. Slowly sell as I am not in urgency to sell.

Tried Carsome and carlistbid

Carsome is more systematic, practical and customer friendly
Go to carsome > do inspection > they offer price..if you agree with their price just let go..thumb print..get the money on the spot...if not just go to open bid..for open bid you can put your desire open price > they will put your car for open bid (website portal) for 3 hours > if lucky you will get higher bid

carlistbid...just ignore it...no system..not practical
this one of example of business that you never study how far your competitor have left you

Not really.
At first, they were willing to offer max Rm67k subject to viewing, but after viewing by their agent, they only offered me Rm63k for my wife 2014 CR-V 2.0 Awd.
Our regular second-hand dealer offered us Rm64k and we took his offer as already sold 3 cars to him without any problems

Carsome - relatively low balls. They expect ur car perform 100% as per new car and one fault they cut whole lot of price from the value.

Motorist.my - subject to car evaluation, usually 800-1k lower, which is more better than carsome.

I sold my 13 years proton via motorist.my

I got to know carsome as my friend happened to be working with them. Just sold my car to Carsome through bidding in early July. Hassle free, transparent, settlement done on that day itself.

Also helped another friend to sell off his Toyota Hilux 2017 to Carsome, RM2k more than what used car dealer offered him. Settlement done the following day as thumb print to Carsome was done after 3pm.

If you can sell to a direct buyer, it would be the best in terms of market price can fetch. You can trade in to used car dealers or you may consider one of this bidding platform.

Mudah is like a jungle, so have to be very careful when dealing there.

Carsome seems to be the leader for the bidding platform base on my personal experience and what I looked up.
You can get an appointment to inspect at any of the nearest inspection centre or at your location of your choice. Need to provide car grant/VOC for inspector to submit report. Bidding next working day. You will know the final result and the offer is valid for 24hours only.
Last year secured a huge funding as well to give them a competitive advantage over others.
https://techcrunch.com/2019/12/10/carsome-r...southeast-asia/

Carlistbid
Their operation team is the worst among all. Not ready to handle a simple process flow of customer journey from the 1st step of getting an inspection appointment, yet, already marketing themselves in FB all over. Called them to book an appointment but no one bother to get back and follow up.

Mytukar
They were prompt to get in touch with me shortly after I Filled up the form on their web. Inspection done in Cheras centre the next day. It took them less than an hour to complete the inspection. Price was 5k lower than what I got from Carsome.

If you need a slot in carsome for inspection, I can link you up with my friend.

Ultimately, choice is in your hands because the car belongs to you.

Interesting question. Actually selling car does not have any extra fees. Buying is a different story.....

Only if you went through the bidding process, need to pay 200-300 (forgot exactly how much).

If it didn't go thru bidding (sold directly to carsome/mytukar for the initial offer price), no additional fees for carsome and mytukar.

Sold my car to Carsome recently. Also did my survey at MyTukar. Myvi 1.3SE 2013

Carsome
Initial Offer: RM17000
Bid Charge (if accept): RM500
Charge If no VOC: RM150
Bid Offer:RM20500
Car Surrender: At inspection place

MyTukar
Initial Offer: RM20000
Bid Charge (if accept): RM500
Charge If no VOC: RM100
Bid Offer: No Bid
Car Surrender: at Setia Alam or Glenmarie

MyTukar salesman also told me they will pay for my Grab from Setia Alam to my house. But when i told Carsome that Mytukar offered me 20K, they straightly offer me 22K without need to go or accept the bid. For VOC, I just go to JPJ by my own and paid RM50 for that VOC. But when i surrendered my car to carsome at their inspection place, i need to pay my own grab. For my car settlement, met their officer at the bank to settled my loan. And balance was transferred to my account in 3 hrs.

so far MUV gave me the best offer for both my transaction with them.

Car 1(my asking price rm 35k)
Carsome rm 28k>>> ask to put in bidding for my asking price
MUV rm36k

Car 2 (my asking price rm 40k)
Carsome rm 23k>>> ask to put in bidding for my asking price
MUV rm43k

I think its mostly about the sales person who nego with you.

I just filled up yesterday a booking for tomorrow on 3 of them, Carsome, MyTukar, and MUV. This is to sell my 2016 Axia G Manual.

Carsome:
5 Min after I complete the submission, they call back for confirmation. Provide a min price of RM15k

MUV:
Received a callback in 1 hour after submission. Didn't provide min price but referring to my asking price instead, I ask for RM17k they acknowledge and say the final price will be confirmed after inspection

MyTukar:
Received a callback in 4 hours after submission, they call me back at 9 pm for confirmation. Provide a min price of RM16k

Will go through all 3 of them tomorrow, going to update further on how it goes. Never went to CarlistBid as I don't think I could make it for Carlist on the same day so I'm going to take a pass on them.

So on Saturday I ended up going to both MyTukar & Carsome inspection. Had to cancel my appointment with MUV since it is overlap with my unplanned activities.

Carsome : Location; Seksyen 26 Shah Alam. The staff is friendly and explain all the process properly. Had a great time talking to him while he's doing the inspection. After 30 min, he did all the inspections and went for a quick test drive.
As soon as he came back, 1 phone call and he's ready to disclosed the direct offer price of RM16500. So I ask him to hold it out until I'm ready to choose since I'm going to MyTukar also. \
He said the price that he gave is open for negotiation, as soon as MyTukar provide a final price, he would try to match / make a better offer.

MyTukar : Location; Setia Alam. The staff is friendly, although my booking time is at 2pm, I went and arrive there at 11am. They said they will only start doing mine as soon as they have some gap in the inspections.
So at 1230pm its finally my turn since there is some gap available in their schedule. The inspections seems more thorough then what the Carsome did. By the time they told me it was done, they asked me to wait and 'HQ' will get in touch with me within 24 hours.
Fast forward 24 hr, I was given the initial price from MyTukar, which is RM15500. I immediately I reject the offer and told them the exact figure that Carsome provide. After much negotiation and persuasion I was able to get the final figure of the car that MyTukar offer wich is RM17500

Result: I went ahead and confirm with MyTukar I'm taking their offer. And told the Carsome guy that I had taken the offer by Mytukar. Carsome tried to compete with what MyTukar offer but end up going silent instead.

Will share the update of what's next

Recently i think Carsome changed their valuation system, last time they are able to offer higher compared to Mytukar but from what I experienced 2 weeks ago even the Carsome inspector is annoyed he can't offer a higher price. I got offered 13k for my Preve Turbo, max carsome could give is 14.3k that's what is 'Allowed' in the sytem. Mytukar initially offered 15k but bumped it up to 17k which is a fair deal. So Mytukar definitely able to offer higher price compared to Carsome now.

Yeah, I've done the trade with MyTukar now as Carsome Can't offer a higher price. So what best Carsome can do for me in the end in order to compete with MyTukar is to get my car listed in the bidding instead.

Even on bidding the final offer price can't match with MyTukar direct offer price. I even manage to chat a bit with MyTukar staff, they said whatever price Carsome offered MyTukar will at least match their pricing down to the final hundreds, not sure how far in the truth is but it will do wonders for us the customers rclxm9.gif .

For me I would go for mytukar.

Traded in my personal 2018 to mytukar last year during mco. The process is simple and fast.

I have compared both carsome and mytukar, guess what, the price offered by mytukar is 25% higher! And it's direct offer from mytukar.

i went to mytukar look around for their cars. they offered extra 1 year GM warranty after current brand's ended..

if you bought a 2020 car, 3 years with honda (example) till 2025 then 1 year mytukar (from 2025 to 2026).. is this real statement?

This doesn't seem right...Please check if the Honda (example) principal warranty still applies and service history is maintained by previous owner. Normally small refurbishments are done by MyTukar/Carsome before selling - so there is a chance of OEM warranty becoming void. Usually their warranty of 1 year is from the date of sale and coverage is only engine & gearbox. Also, they offer free service at their own SC which automatically voids the OEM warranty in most cases. Please check detailed T&Cs and also with SC of Honda (example).

i thought so, normally 1 year after sale.. good example is BMW or Mazda actually since previous owner confirm go to SC for svc due to free.. the salesman confirm the mytukar warranty starts after brand warranty.. kinda not logic..

I think MyTukar is giving warranty from GMR, so you can also check directly with GMR guys directly about T&Cs if not clear.

Sharing my experience from a recent car sale. Honda City E spec 2014. Mileage 87k.
First dropped by a few car dealers and was offered 38k max 40k.
One of the car dealers is a carsome panel arranged for car viewing at residence (took around 30mins) and put it up for bidding. Fetched Rm 40400. I wasn't told the bidding price starts at 40K. rejected the offer.

Meanwhile surveyed Carsome via the website, received a call, and arranged an appt for a car inspection at the Selayang branch. It took 30mins to inspect and priced it at RM40k for direct sale to Carsome. Put it up for bidding under them. I didn't remember quoting expectations and price to start bidding. no news till 1 week later.

Dropped by MyTukar Selayang, in the same row. Walked in without an appt.
The inspection took 30mins. I received a call the next day and priced it at RM41k. Then it went up to Rm 41.5k. Didn't bother to reply back as I was expecting more. I received msg the next day from HQ and locked the price at RM42k (no Handling fees).

Twist to the story, the weekend came and about to send to MyTukar, I got a call from Carsome - car bidding fetched Rm 43200. Handling fees were quoted at Rm 500. Was charged handling fees of only Rm 250 if surrendered car within three days.

MyTukar couldn't match the price, and bidding news never came from them. So I sold it to Carsome at 3 pm Sunday. Transferred full amount by 10 pm into the bank account.

Easier way to sell car now.

Sharing my experience selling a 7 year old D segment sedan. Carsome quoted 63K.

Went to MyTukar, quoted 58K. A bit pissed with the low price so rejected the bidding, but they did it anyway, next day someone bidded at 66k, couldn't sell as new car not ready.

2 weeks later new car ready, inspect again. And quoted 60K, bidding next day got 71K offer.

So if you don't agree with initial price, do it again later.

Hi guys, I send my car for inspection at MyTukar a day ago. Got an offer outright lower than what I expected. So they put my car to bid, and not much of an increase to what they offer.
So I rejected. And of course the customer service called and asked if I got any better offer, so I pun say yes, I got better offer..by the other platform..and quoted a price..so he said he can help me fight for a better price from his management, but I need to show proof of the offer.

Then I pun kelentong, say I got phone call only..no proof..so how ah? how to show proof..anyone has these experience..?

Got both Carsome & Mytukar experiences which i just sold a Toyota Hilux. Most importantly is the price. Just go which offer higher.

2014 hilux
Carsome= 67k
Mytukar=60k

no brainer really. Not to said mytukar is bad but i think both of them offer different prices by models. Some models are hot in Carsome and some in Mytukar.

I'd say, just book an appointment for both of them at the same day or 1 day difference;
Go for MyTukar first as on my case, MyTukar gave their offer in the next 24 hours while Carsome gave an offer right after inspection.

Then you can use that pricing for a bargaining chip biggrin.gif

I just sold my mum’s car.

It’s a 2012 Toyota Prius C. Driven 180k.

Needed some suspension work and the bodywork could do with a repaint.

Being replaced with an Ativa.

Perodua dealer trade in :-
RM9k

Other used car dealers :-
RM11k average.

Own self listed on FB and Mudah for RM23k, only tyre kickers, lowballers and test pilots called up.

Carsome PJ:-
RM13k
Bid RM13.8k

Carsome Kepong :-
RM11k
Bidding RM13k

MyTukar :-
RM14k

Motorist.my
Bid RM18k
Brought for inspection at a Cheras area used car dealer, offered rm15k then they upped it to rm16k which we found acceptable.

Carsome, you book for an inspection, then bring the car to the location, it will be driven by a car inspector (takes around 20 minutes).

MyTukar, similar.

Motorist.my, you give photos of the car, then if it has bidders, the highest bidder's details will be given to you and you have to bring the car to the bidder that would normally be a fairly big used car seller. The one I brought it to, drove it around a multistorey carpark (their office and operation area was within a "failing mall") Only took 5 minutes then they either say whole amount or the amount they will minus due to issues that can't be seen from the photos. Was tested by a "suspicious ah beng" didn't find any "uncles" there.

If the amount offered is sufficient to cover outstanding then you won’t need to pay upfront.

If the amount offered isn’t sufficient then you will need to pay up the difference.

For Carsome....

If the car still have outstanding, you will need drive your car to the bank branch who issued the loan. A representative from carsome will meet you there.

Once there, depending if your agreed price is higher or lower than your loan outstanding amount....

- If it's higher, the rep will settle your loan on the spot and bank in the excess amount to your bank account on the same day.
- If it's lower, the rep will pay the agreed amount and you will need to top up the difference, also settling the loan on the spot.

Once that is done, the rep will perform the name transfer procedure there and then, after which you will surrender the car key to the rep. He/She will then leave with your car and that's that.

But, if you can settle the loan balance yourself, then just do so and then arrange a pickup date to surrender the vehicle to their rep.

But, if you can settle the loan balance yourself, then just do so and then arrange a pickup date to surrender the vehicle to their rep.

Thanks for the information as well, it's so comprehensive smile.gif was thinking to price check first so wouldn't surrender it there

Just sold my 23 year old proton saga to Carrid Auto - https://www.carrid.my/home/Index
Yup I haven’t heard of them before either until my mechanic gave me their number.
The one I deal with is near Kuchai Lama NSK
They offered me 2k, I wanted 3k. Finally settled on 2.2k
3 years ago before the pandemic, Carsome@Puchong offered me 1300. Live bidding also nobody wanted.
Transaction was painless and actually quite pleasant. The person came to my place, explained every step, do the online jpj ownership transfer, all done in 30mins or less. He told me they even buy non working cars. Definitely recommended

Update 12/5 - carrid whatsapp the PDF copy of the JPJ temporary transfer to them. All done and settled.

Thanks for this thread, finally sold my car couple of days ago.
This is my experience.

I would suggest in this way:
i) make an appointment to inspect your car at 2 different company the same day.
ii) after getting the quote, if dissatisfy with the price, can opt for bidding.
iii) the key thing is the bidding, bear in mind don't need to worry that the bid will be gone, you have 24hours to consider.
iv) after compare the bidding prices from both companies, then decide.

I made a mistake to accept 1st co's offer which the 2nd co gave RM1k more.

I was lucky that I checked my car's price online, maximum I can get will be 32-34k, able to get 28k, which is good enough.
Imagine they have to do some touch up processing fees etc. Margin will be low. Anyway, I get what I targeted.
Save the hassles to deal direct with the buyer all these inquiries, to me is a waste of time.
Instead of deduct RM500 for bidding, only deduct RM250 for bidding, I didn't ask why.

back to this one, the transaction super smooth.. the price offer is acceptable by me considering he has to go 2 different places (thumprint & tow car) & the car is not in working condition, major repair needed.. thumbup.gif

add : the price offer is totally based on my description and pictures via whatsapp.. car is savvy with major problem..

Here's my experience.

Carsome - check 30 mins, call back 3 hours later offer RM41k, they also say can help me to put up for bidding on the same day.
Mytukar - check 40 mins, say will call me the next day, but they directly put up for bidding on the same day.
MUV - check 15 mins, offer RM41k on the spot.
Motorist - sent car photo via whatsapp, say will put up for bidding on the next day.

Carsome bidding able to fetch RM47.1k while Mytukar RM46.8k. Accepted Carsome bidding and make appointment to hand over the car the next day.
Went to Carsome for thumbprint and received the money within 15 mins (on a Sunday). Handling fee was RM250 only instead of RM500 as told earlier.

It's really easy to sell our car nowadays.

In order for Carsome to settle the loan without going to the bank, you will have to get the full settlement letter from the bank before hand and wih the letter you can surrender the car at the Carsome branch and payment will be done to the bank and balance payment to you.

Do not hesitate to contact me at 012-555 0010 if you require further assistance. Thank you.

I decided to contact @rufinus and take him up on his offer for Carsome, and I am happy to say that he did a great job. He was very thorough from the point that I contacted him, and made sure that I was always up to date on what was happening. He did his best to get a fair value for the car and I would definitely look for him again the next time I have a car to sell. Thanks mate!

Based on recent experience, yes we can still sell back to Carsome but the offer price likely change, said by the Customer Service Team because I did ask same question as well.

Hi, is it normal for Carsome not to ask for details? Like service records? Also didnt ask me for my spare key and listed as no spare key, will this have a negative impact on the offered price? I felt that carsome inspection like a bit cin cai, was quite shocked.

Now you know. My mechanic did not recommend cars from carsome or any of these as a lot of his customer ask him to help mask all the issues before sent in for bid or sell. Most of the inspection did not done professional enough, even mileage tempering also can be done before sent in without any question ask. This is a good place for problematic cars to ditch for better pricing. The worse or bad is the one buying it later, even tho they give you warranty or insurance repair claim but i heard got limit and only certain workshop can claim for it.

yes i was quite shocked. I tot they really will go thru the 100+ points inspection and check, but from what I see, they just open my bonnet, take a few photo, take my car out for a 5 min drive. then back with a quote. and the information they present to the dealer for bidding is misleading as well. can rufinus help shard some light if this is the real SOP or just the JB branch lazy? Given this kinda of checking standard, im not sure if i dare to shop used car from carsome at all.

Thanks to bro rufinus on your guidance and expertise to help me sell off my car. Your service is truly the best.

I managed to sell off a car, depreciating in the car park almost not used after consulting him and he was able to match my asking price.

Process was smooth from the inspection by carsome, bidding and finally an offer to buy by carsome, right to the collection of the vehicle, settlement of the existing loan and balance payment to me done within 24 hours.
Yes, carsome is recommended but the person you are dealing with plays an important role too...@rufinus

Thanks again bro rufinus.

Sold my parent's old Proton Saga 13 years old car to Carsome for about 6k. Whole experience is pleasant, fast and efficient. They will call to follow up and patiently explains what's the next procedures. The price quoted was not the best but it's quite good and it's less hassle then selling it yourself because you'll need to talk to the buyer, arrange car test/view session, hire runner to do the procedures and etc.

Recently I sent my Mazda CX-5 to Carsome for inspection and then put it on bidding..the price that I received is quite good also.

Based on my experience, Carsome can deal well with JDM car, as naturally JDM cars can fetch higher price value than conti. but if you were to bring a conti car, they will kaw kaw suppress and low balling price. and if you were to reason it we will be in the state of confusion, they are capping the price and the car inspection and snap gambar2 semua drama la, anyone can temper the mileage, and no proper checks in under portion of the car....they suppress from every individual who sells their car to a very low price (super low balling) and sell for a higher price in their platform, they do the belit belit in the bidding and we dont know who bids and who wins, no transparency.

So before you sell a car make sure you do proper market research, and have a reasonable and firm price range for your car based on the age and condition of it. Don't blindly jual and lose money.

Did Carsome / Mytukar truly check the car condition before buying / selling ?

I thought Carsome / Mytukar cars are reliable and trust worthy that we can buy with problem free, unlike used car dealer.

I am sick buying car from used car dealer, my experience with used car dealer none was good. Mostly conman.

x90 launched? you may go ahead with proton if you're in early 20 for the "handling" or after 40/45 with few spare cars.

if between 28-40 still fighting in career or business.. I suggest Toyota or Perodua.

Sorry bro this is reality. there must be a reason why I'm in hurry to sell off this fking car.

So far bad experience with carsome.
2019 Japanese car, fully serviced at sc, under 50k mileage their assessment report said transmission and engine issue. Speechless.
Contacted the carsome assessor,  he said not sure also.

The whole report is suspect.
Brand new mats underneath thirdparty mats, their report is worn out mats (mind you my third party mats still look new)

same case on both of my previous occasions. During inspection day, they simply say the inspection is done person in charge will call me within 24 hours for the final price etc.

It was the same process for both carsome and mytukar. Although for mine, it wasn't as bad and the report seems agreeable with me.

Damn. I missed out this post :/ Should have contacted @rufinus.

Anyways, here are my experience selling my Perodua MyVi 2015 (AV). No pending loan:

FIRST DAY.
MyTukar (Cheras Sentral)
- Book through web. No slot selection. Staff will call manually and set your appointment. Staff will also explain about the process.
- At the Inspection centre. 11AM. No explanation of whatsover of the process.
- Handed gran, keys and sign few documents.
- Inspection was smooth. Took 30 mins or so. Comfy waiting area.
- No direct quotation. Another staff will call within few hours.
- Staff called around 2pm to give the quotation (RM 31.5k). Need to minus RM 500 for handling fee. Rejected directly because I think its too low. LOL. #savage
- Staff agreed to recheck and see she can go higher or suggested to go for bidding.
- 6PM: Got another call. Now, they're offering RM 32.5K. But need to accept by 12pm tomorrow.

CarSome (Ampang)
- Book through web. Choose slot directly from web. Within few mins, got a call and the staff explain about the process and confirmation of the appointment.. Really good!
- At the Inspection centre. 3PM. Light explanation.
- Handed gran, keys and sign few documents.
- Inspection was smooth. Took 30 mins or so. Comfy waiting area.
- Got quotation directly (RM 31.5k). No need to minus anything. Suggested to got for bidding.
- Mentioned that October onwards, pricing is lower because almost new year. bla bla bla.

BuyBye
- Book through a friend.
- Very easy. just set any location and they will come.
- 30 mins inspection.
- Like MyTukar. No direct quotation.
- Got a call around 5pm: Offered 32k.

SECOND DAY.
Biding for CarSome was not so good. Started at 33k and no bidder at all. I got a URL and credentials to see the bidding through sms.

Directly accept MyTukar offer for RM 32.5K.

Send the car to the same place along with the gran. Easy and quick. Thumprint and sign and out from the office.

+ Handed the car around 2-pm ish.
+ Money banked in to my account the next day around 10-am ish. So its within 24 hours and not on the spot.

2015 myvi can still get 32k from mytukar eh? really strong resale price.
I would probably never buy a 2nd hand myvi. Crazy resale value, IMO.

One thing about bidding is, just put a lower then usual price to at least have the bid started.

Because the bidders, 2nd hand dealers also won’t want some mcb to get a steal outta a car, so at least they will bid - and if you’re lucky it will go higher then expected.

You can always choose to reject the final price at no choice, so no harm done. Start the bid at a low price.

Your bidding price cannot be lower than what Carsome is offering you.

For eg, if Carsome offered to buy your Myvi at RM31.5K, then your bid cannot be lower than that. Also, once a bid is successful and the car is sold to a used car dealer, Carsome will charge you RM500 as processing fee. So, to "break-even", you need to start a bid at RM32k.

Just sharing 2 experiences I had with Carsome and MyTukar:

1. 2001 Toyota Camry, went for inspection at both places, got the same offer at both places for RM7k. Tried luck to put online bidding, but didn't receive any bids so in the end just sold to Carsome for their RM7k offer.

2. 2004 Toyota Vios, also went for inspection at both places.

Carsome offered RM13k, didn't accept offer.

MyTukar had some issues and could not complete the inspection so did not get an offer, but few hours later I got notification that the car had somehow went up for bidding and had received a bid offer for RM15.4k.
In the end did not accept the offer as sold it to someone else for RM16k.

Actually if find carsome agent bid got charge or not(successful sell the car)

Some say no fee. Some say rm300. Some say rm500. Which one is true?

Another question is i sold a car through carsome bidding by carsome agent.
Although i am satisfied with the bid price... example 30000,
but the agent didnt show any info for me regarding the bidding.

How can i know the real bidding price is it 31000 or 32000 or even more?
and the carsome agent told me is 30000, and keep the remaining as commision?
it is possible to happen or not.

Thanks

Based on understanding, when bidding begin, you will be received SMS/link to see the live view, in the end of session, the final price is there for your review

Just talked with one of the Mytukar staff.
If sold directly to Mytukar, then before they sell they will repair any problems. But how extensive is their repair and checking I am not sure.
If sold via bidding, which is to third party, will just be sold as is to them.

I assume this would apply to Carsome as well, but need to confirm with them.

thanks bro.

for selling car, go to carsome / mytukar seem very good.

for buying car, i think the best choice still those own brand "certified pre-owned" like Toyota Topmark, Honda pre-owned, Sime-Darby pre-owned, of coz need to pay premium price for that.

For selling, they will always take lower than market price as they need the margin for profit and refurbishment. I normally sell the cars on my own and get close to the median prices, then buy from them thus minimizing my losses. But if the car you're selling still has loan outstanding then a bit leceh lah.

my car no more loan already.

Yea, one of the representative did told me that the price they offer need some margin for profit and prolly refurbishment.. hence those price we see online (Selling car price) not really helpful to gauge our car value..

sigh.. I see my car insurance market value still higher than Mytukar offer. sweat.gif sweat.gif

For now, i just hold my car first la and re-plan again next year.

One option is to join a club for your car model,
Mix with the members there and
Later put up for sale see if any enthusiast interested

Since now I know what is my car value, I try to touch-up a bit and re-do the selling plan. Right now, not urgent of selling but if got opportunity with good offer, I'll go for it. biggrin.gif

They did the inspection on the spot together with you (they will come to your location, no need go to their place like others and waste time waiting).

Then they will send the report to their office, and within a day, they will call and tell you the price they offer to u.

I believe they have a standard guideline to judge the price range depends on ur car age, mileage and condition like the others as well

bought this from carsome with 8k discount + 2 time free service + 1 year warranty
https://www.carsome.my/buy-car/lexus/nx200t...ort-2.0/c5q8000

after get the car find out slow turn have some noise so send back to their service center to check, they manage to claim some sort of barring n sone absober mounting but have to wait a few days since they need to submit to HQ then only can purchase the parts.

while waiting the parts I drive a few more days they air-con only driver side is cold, passenger n rear seat side is blowing hot air (before I buy this nx200t I already google the common problem, so this air-con thing its common just need to use some computer to resetting it)...so I send back for them to check n solve the problem for me.

after the parts replacement, I find out that my steering is not straight, so I bring to tyre shop to do alignment n balancing mana tau after do still same, then find out my reverse camera and passenger side camera no show in my screen plak, 2morow hv to send back to them again.

nice car bro.
does carsome have their own service center or did they ask you to go to a panel workshop? seems like the workshop not a toyota/lexus specialist.

They recently setup their own service center, yes seems they are not specialist...cos I told them what I find from the internet still cannot fix the Aircon problem at the end bring to air con specialist workshop n it's the same as what I mention to them. Overall I'm still ok with it, as long as there is problem n they willing to fix it.

What is your car, if you dont mind sharing here

I've had friends who've had good experience with carsome/mytukar a couple of years ago, but my own experience with them have been poor as well, in terms of valuation. Seems to me that they only give serious offer to the cars with high demand and high resell value ie Vios, City, Civic etc. If you are driving older germans, Kia(s), Hyundai(s) etc you might not get a decent valuation from them. Their pre inspection checking seems too casual for me as well, but since its free, i do understand it.
I've had used car dealers offer me way higher than carsome and mytukar as well biggrin.gif

No, is not. A lot of problematic car from my mechanic feedback are being sold to these sellers also.

If you are interested with any car from any platform or used car dealer please get a trusted mechanic to check it out before confirm.

my car was Preve 1.6T (high mileage, obvious paint damage, lot of scratches replace some interior trim)..

i just sold off to Carsome recently..

I tried ask around and apparently most of the used car dealer offer me very less than carsome offer.

Glad I found this thread. Somehow got my courage to sell my car after reading all the insights shared here. Been using my VW car for 8 years with a year remaining to settle my loan, as the car getting cumbersome for me to maintain, I often contemplating on many things like resale value against loan settlement, should I repair first and etc.

I want to highlight and appreciate @rufinus for the very good experience with Carsome. Contacted him and he was very responsive. He has helped me to get the pricing I needed for loan settlement with a little bit extra.

I couldn't describe much in detail but the during the process I felt guided and assure all is well at the end which came true.

Hi bro,

Appreciate you can share some info about your 8 years ownership of your VW.

Especially the bads, because this will be a very useful info for any potential buyers before deciding on the VW cars.

Many thanks.

Haven't tried Carsome but for MyTukar, I had a unpleasant experience with them. Went to them to an appraisal and to perhaps to sell my car to them.
Was introduced to a business manager, she was extremely quite rude, would not bother replying messages, and didn't even bother to justify certain issues with the car tester. The car tester was not familiar with the car, had a show the ways to open the bonnet and also to properly operate the gearbox, didn't even know how to operate the paddle shifters correctly.
In the end was quoted a very low price with multiple inaccurate results of the car.
Ended up selling the car outside to a dealer that for a very good price.

i bought vw polo 1.2 tsi (dry dsg 7-speed) from vw federal auto back in early 2015. sale advisor who attended me at the time was very superb service. for 6 years, i never experience dsg problems like most other vw drivers complaint about and it worked well for me, maybe because i am casual driver.

the problem started after change all the sensors due to wear and tear. i did it at vw sc selayang and the workmanship was so bad i had to go back and forth many times to rectify everytime HUD indicator lighten up because of sensors. first reason they gave, sensor misalignment then bad sensor and so on. they even left behind tools inside the car after pass back to me and i aware already at the time, their technician lack of discipline and incompetence. after 5th or 6th time, they started to charge me for labor cost which clearly the problem caused by their mistake in the first place.

i had no choice but to use the car in its condition for awhile and this led to other problems, due to faulty sensors, engine firing become bad and etc. a friend told me to go to vagtechnik and after checking this time the damaged caused by faulty sensors had gone further affecting the dsg mechatronic. though i can afford the cost, but i rather use the money as downpayment for honda city. the vagtechnik technician said to me, car still can drive no problem but not as smooth due to gear shifting something something.

sorry tldr

1. if you drive vw correctly, it will last for good. vw car not for racing one.

2. even for vw, you will never know if your official technician attending your car is competent or not. imo, they are as good as other un-official garage technician out there, in fact outside can be better and way cheaper. in my case, got bad luck at vw selayang (no more dy become proton 3s).

3. conti car especially vw use and reply a lot on electronics and they aren't cheap but there are alternative 3rd party brand. in my experience, u can use alternative but it will not last long and often you need to change them very frequently.

Sharing my experience as well for reference.

Selling 2012 Maibi Lagi Best Ezi (1.3)

Went both to Carsome and myTukar for Inspection:

Both are very good and professional from appointment up till inspection but Carsome has bit advantage as they appoint 1 person to entertain me during the inspection.

Carsome:
1st inspection done at Carsome BMC and was offered 15k. Not satisfied with the price and ask to go for open bidding. Enter bid for next morning and got bid for 19k.

MyTukar:
Same day inspection and take roughly the same time as carsome. Easy and professional as well, did not get the price straightaway (like carsome) but they offer 16k the next morning. Told them that carsome bidding at 19k and they ask to show the proof for them to match the price.

They call me next hour and told they will match the price without any fees (basically i will get 19k nett). Will send it by this weekend to Shah Alam.

Bonus: myTukar has better service in terms of handling the arrangement of my case (the car under my fathers name eventho I'm the one who settle the payment). They arranged for thier agent (in pantai timur to meet my father at his house while i deliver the car here in KL)

For Carsome, my father need to go to their office (around 40 minutes drive) if i proceed with them

Both of them are good, just go with the one with better offer or arrangements

Hi all, want to ask, normally for these companies, if we reject their offer, is there a min duration before we can get the 2nd assessment? Am thinking if their offer is low and I don't agree, maybe I'll give myself 1 month to sell direct, but if within 1 month cannot find a buyer with higher price, then back to them to get another quote

Anyone tried Carsome's online quotation?

1) does the offered price differ a lot from final offer after inspection? I know it also depends on car condition lah.

2) do they spam us after getting our phone number?

I had recently sold my car at Carsome. Here are some key points that you should take note the car value differs from branch to branch / inspector to inspector. Though the process at Carsome seems automated, there's no one would serve you end to end. Therefore, I was lucky enough to come across this thread to understand we have rufinus who has been extremely helpful in my case as well.

He has been providing end to end service and ensuring milestones, from making appointments, getting those inspectors checked the car and admin attend to the handover. His service has been invaluable and I highly recommend those who needed a first class service to contact Rufinus.

Keep up the good work bro!

I have decided to sell my car last week and checking out how/which is better Carsome or MyTukar. Never try this platform before and glad to find info here.
And I have to say with the help and guidance from Rufinus, the process of selling my car was all done and completed well within 48 hours. I had the car inspected by both Carsome and MyTukar on Saturday and completed the transaction today.

From appointment booking, sending me reminder on the day itself, helping to follow up when things get anxious, also when getting blurred what’s next, getting the booster confidence is this right or unsure…it is good when you have someone to ask.
Even for some not smart questions, I still do get a polite reply.

Thumbs up to Rufinus thumbup.gif
For helping to see things thru from end to end
With the intention getting the best value for the car
Making the transaction as convenient as possible

Hi boss, you can call up your insurance company and request to cancel the old car insurance policy as you have sold the car already.
Once done, your new car SA can ask their insurance agent to pick-up the NCD for your new car.

Once you done the thumb print for name transfer, you can call up your car insurance company to requeat to cancel the existing car insurance policy. The insurance co will refund the premium for the remaining months.

Once policy cancel, you can inform the car dealer to proceed the insurance and the transfer over the NCD to your new car. The NCD info floating in the insurance system.

Think twice before selling to mytukar. The handover is totally inefficient and slow and crazy.
Expect 2 hours to be in their office before finalizing the handover.
Also don't get fool by their appointment. Is useless. People still can walk-in without appointment.
Really bad handover experience.

While browsing LYN for car related info, came across Rufinus' posts and decided to engage his services to sell my car looking at the feedback some users provided.

His responses were very timely and concise. He took care of the whole process end to end and helped me to get a satisfactory deal for my car.

When speaking to him you'll realize he's quite a well seasoned car guy as he provided valuable feedback in regards to various car models and how their maintenance is like.

Would certainly recommend his services for a professional and peace of mind service. 10/10

Carsome is much better compare to Mytukar.
Sold my old city GM6 in Aug, carsome offered price is RM2.5k higher than Mytukar even before bidding process. Some more Mytukar inspection process is quite annoying, need me to remove the carseat myself, and the inspector also unplug all rubber strip on door edge, although he did install it back later, but as owner of course I feel annoy when see people do such thing to my car. Carsome never do that during inspection.

So you have to wait there at their office for few hours to get your money?
Wonder why they can’t transfer the cash immediately after they do the jpj ownership transfer

No la. I went home after receiving all the documentations include one which mentioned the payment amount and after the transfer. Soon later, money and the payment receipt was sent to me.

They will need some time for HQ to process the payment as I believe they have many payments to make.

I echo what others said here about carsome being better than mytukar. From what I heard and read around, seems like mytukar is closer to the usual snarky used car dealers. Carsome manage to maintain their business model of being a level above these scamming used car dealers. Personally, I have never had good experience with mytukar whether selling or buying. Carsome on the other hand handle things better and offer much better price.

My experience with all these sites is the same. Go for bidding. Their initial offer is always lower. I've successfully sold 3 cars via their bidding platform for almost 3-4k higher than their offer.

And with businesses like these, you get the vultures. Other 3rd party dealers that somehow "got your info" that ur selling and start texting u with offers. Most of them can't even match the initial offer of carsome or mytukar.

hello all, need an advice here
i want to sell my car myvi (~13 years), milleage ~130K

1st ques: does the car value they offer will be affected by the insured value?
how do i accept which price is OK for me to proceed to sell?

2nd ques: my car road tax & insurance, will be expiring end Nov, if i proceed to mytukar/carsome before this expiry, will that be OK?
or is it better if i renew them before i bring to mytukar/carsome?

Carsome offer me rm11k after inspection.

Motorist.my put my car on bid and I got RM13k. No need to do inspection, just sent them pictures of my car and they directly put my car on bid. Get the price on the next day.

May I know where is motorist outlet?

I cannot find in the website.

According to my friend, the price offered by Carsome was a lot lower than what was stated in their "Get Car Price" estimates even though the condition for his 2019 car is still very good and the mileage was only 25,000.

Even the officer that did the inspection told him the car condition is very good and there are no issues with it but unfortunately Carsome couldn't offer what was stated in their "Get Car Price" estimates and asked him to try for online bidding instead.

He's also going to try MyTukar I believe.

Carsome lowballed me, MyTukar gave a much better price (even after deducting their RM700 fees), around 14% difference. Then again, maybe different Carsome branches offer different prices and I was just unlucky.

Same here. Lost interest in Carsome after lowball offers keep rising. Took to Mytukar straight 3K more than highest Carsome.

Also asked Mytukar waived their fee, they agreed immediately.

my recent experience with mytukar and carsome. mytukar offered me slightly above 10k, carsome offered around 7-8k. In the end I sold it on my own for 16K.
buyer came and view car in the mornings, paid and took the car in the afternoon.
if you want easy and fast, do a puspakom inspection first and register mysikap biometrics at JPJ beforehand then you can transfer on your own online. If not then you need to go JPJ to transfer

So sell on your own you will get more money back

Sidetrack a bit,
Can elaborate how you transfer a car ownership without going to JPJ?

Own biometrics reader to capture buyer and seller thumbprint?

How about registration card printout.. Thanks

You have to go to jpj one time to register your biometrics then you can forever do transfer via mysikap
New registration card is new owner need to go jpj to register the car. You just give him the slip transfer
I think new owner if registered biometrics also can do online just I'm not sure as I'm seller

I'm new to this sales platform thing

so if I'm buying a new car and want to transfer my existing insurance for the NCD, how should I proceed with it if I want to sell to Carsome or MyTukar for example?

Technically it would be less hassle if I just trade in to Proton/Perodua directly since the SA will handle every thing but at the cost of lowest offer

Decided to let go of my G20 for a Seal and wanted a hassle free sale of my car.

Long story short came across rufinus contact here and decided to give him a try and I am glad I did. He is fast to respond, patient in answering queries, always available to suggest solutions to problems and most importantly will try to offer the best price for your car.

I highly recommend rufinus if you’re looking to sell your car quickly, hassle free via CARSOME.

I went to both Carsome and MyTukar. Sold my w204 to carsome.
Few month afterward, sold my toyota to MyTukar.
Carsome, they offer you immediately after the inspection, while MyTukar took 24 hours.

Recently sold a car through Carsome. Sent for inspection at both Carsome and Mytukar but got lowballed by their direct offer after the inspection. Requested them to put it up for auction. Final bid price ended up approximately 35% higher than their direct offer price.

Sold my car to Carsome this week with help from Rufinus (was helpful and responsive to my questions)

Overall process took less than 1.5 hour (1 hour for inspection + 30 mins for paperwork), excluding waiting time for offer and stuff.

Payment isn’t as instant as advertised. Waited more than 48 hours dy. Ask customer service keep on extending date. So if you need your fund urgently, better think twice.

I just sold my Myvi 2018 around a month ago.
I have requested for inspection from both MyTukar(Carro) and Carsome.
MyTukar gave me higher price compared to Carsome. The process seems seamless as well, maybe carsome have the similar process as well. I would suggest just try few companies to sell your car and see which one bid the highest price for your car.

anyone bought from mytukar/carro before?
Their inspection report looks so suspicious, always showing full score even for old cars. Compared to Carsome, they highlight all the defects including those tiny paint chips & normal steering wheel & seats wear and tear.

I was wondering when selling cars on the platform, must the insurance still be ongoing or not necessary?

Also if we opt to do the online bidding, do we have to accept it or i can still go back to the offer given when dealing direct with carro/carsome agent?

Btw carsome agent when giving me a direct quote, he said theres rm500 fee so i will receive rm500 lesser than price quoted. Is it how its done usually?

Contacted Rufinus to book a Carsome inspection which was super convenient. Both Carsome and Carro were in the same area, so I did back-to-back inspections.

Carro - inspection took around 50 mins. Low initial offer and got a higher price from their bidding (2K extra)
Carsome - inspection took around 45 mins. Their offer came in the next day

Ended up selling my car to Carsome and handed it over this morning.
Huge thanks to Rufinus for making the whole thing smooth!

You need to inform, you still got any NCD discount rate. In Malaysia, your No Claim Discount (NCD) remains valid only for one year from the date your previous car insurance policy expired if not transferred to a new vehicle or policy.

Your NCD will be lost at the same rate that you gained it.

Renew in 1st year (no gap): 55% NCD
Renew in 2nd year: 45%
Renew in 3rd year: 38.33%
Renew in 4th year: 30%
Renew in 5th year: 25%
Renew in 6th year: 0%

So it takes 6 years to lose your NCD completely.

So from what I understand when you sell your car to Carsome or MyTukar they will handle the Puspakom inspection and ownership transfer. You just give them your biometric so they can do the transfer later. How do you check if they have actually made the ownership transfer? Do they transfer to their company first or directly to the buyer? Do they inform you when the transfer is completed?
