I've read a few threads but nobody seems to have made any comparison - Has anyone actually used Carsome, MyTukar or Carlistbid to sell their car?

I have to sell mine quickly soon when I leave Malaysia - of course not expecting retail price - but has anyone used any of these? Or others? Was anyone surprised as to how high - or low - their selling price was?

If you've used them - maybe you'd share hints and tips - and your success or failures?

I sold my previous ride, a 2011 lagi best myvi 1.3 Auto to carsome for 18.8k, which in my opinion is fairly reasonable considering the ease of transaction.

A tip is you can take your car to their competitor and get it valued, and tell the next competitor how much your car was valued and see if they can mark it up.

For my case, after the inspector at carsome offered me 16k, I asked him why so low since MUV (their main competitor) able to offer me 19k. After some negotiation, he offered me 18.8k. Matter of fact is I did not even get my car valued at MUV biggrin.gif

Tried testing the waters with Carsome last year and they gave me low-ball shitty price so then I just forget about them. Not sure about the others. Anyway I have sold one car just thru Mudah, not using any of those services.

In normal circumstances you're right - this is the thing to do - but as I'm leaving Malaysia - I need a car as late as possible - and then to sell it hassle free and quickly - so I do expect to sell it for less than retail price - but trying to work out which of these 'Sell you car to us in 24 hours or less' outfits are the best. Was it much of a difference percentage wise between what they offered you and what others were being sold for in the dealers? 30 percent less? or more?

are you referring to 2nd hand car dealer or classified platform?

The ones where you sell the car quickly with no fuss.... So you take a hit obviously on the price - but the process is supposed to be fast and easy....

More, it was like 50% cheaper! Lol It was so low balling that it's like a joke! I immediately laughed at them on the phone then just said ok bye and shut the phone. Lol.

My experience

1st time was last year. Carsome come and check the car @ my place. They give me a price that acceptable to me. Actually a bit higher than other car dealers that I have asked for trade in. Give me 5 working days to decide.

After accept, set time n place to meet up. Settle documents, thumbprint n money was transferred within 10 minutes. Excellent ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

2nd experience.
Last week. Set time to inspection @ carsome puchong. Takes about 30mins for them to finish. As this is a continental car, they suggest to go for bidding. They suggest a range of price to start with. The range given was much higher than any car dealers that I have asked. They set to start bidding on this coming tuesday.

They have about 2000 dealers to view and bid. If anyone bid, i can decide to sell or not within 24 hours. They give 3 times. If no one bid for my car, I can bid another 2 times, but have to reduce at least 5% from 1st starting bid price.

Pray that I can get good value for the car as car dealers I have asked all give low value as it's a conti car.

All the best.

Thanks for your detail - very useful to see your experience ๐Ÿ‘

Sounds like some positive stories smile.gif I went to Carsome - and they were friendly and professional - they checked over the car and wanted to offer me around 7k. I opted for bidding - but that didnโ€™t bring anything - advertised in Facebook and found a cash Buyer - had a lot of offers around 10-11k finally sold for rm11250. So for me it was better to sell privately as I was lucky to find the buyer. I wrote an honest advert listing all the faults - so the new owner wouldnโ€™t get any nasty surprises - and that helped to sell it smile.gif
