that's the only issue .. to get the gc zone there must be two fans one intake while another exhaust ...
that's why those that using blower type of cooler found on 8800Series and 2900XT is recommended to use a top or side fan as intake and let the card do the exhausting hot air through it's own cooler .. as for those that aren't using the type of the cooler that I mentioned, one intake and one exhaust fan is definitely needed to effectively cooling the gc zone .... intake to cool the card while exhaust to take out the hot air .. |

QUOTE(sniper69 @ Aug 20 2007, 11:00 AM) Ideally it's the top panel lar...But of course.. you're right... black box look Btw, which casing you're getting since you have a WTS: PC-A10 QUOTE(temptation1314 @ Aug 20 2007, 02:10 PM) Just thinking about upgrading casing soon after I replace my mobo. Why a 6000+ and mobo upgrade? spend all on casing better right? Lian-Li PC-007. Good Casing?? (Sorry, I'm noob here Back to your question.. how do you define good casing first? Added on August 20, 2007, 2:32 pm QUOTE(Doom @ Aug 20 2007, 02:27 PM) that's the only issue .. to get the gc zone there must be two fans one intake while another exhaust ... I just ordered the BS-03... will take a couple of days to arrive.that's why those that using blower type of cooler found on 8800Series and 2900XT is recommended to use a top or side fan as intake and let the card do the exhausting hot air through it's own cooler .. as for those that aren't using the type of the cooler that I mentioned, one intake and one exhaust fan is definitely needed to effectively cooling the gc zone .... intake to cool the card while exhaust to take out the hot air .. I'm using a 7800GTX so it's blowing the other way round... gonna experiment with ultra positive case pressure. Set the BS-03 as blow..hehehehe... and also some invisible mods to the front bezel which will have minimal effect This post has been edited by sniper on the roof: Aug 20 2007, 02:32 PM |

Ermmm that 6000+ decide to upgrade later after I get mobo and casing.
Btw, my current mobo quite sux with the high end GC. Hmm.... good in terms of cable management and air flow? |

QUOTE(temptation1314 @ Aug 20 2007, 02:37 PM) In that case.... PC-A16.Very flexible... can throw in shit loads of fans...cables can go from the edge of the mobo to behind the bay drives. The cons is that it is very open so its not accoustically sealed. |

@sniper
I'm not sure either how does a 7900GTX cooler will works since it blows toward both directions ... so u could try to mount the fan of BS-03 both intake and exhaust and see any different in temperature.. @temptation1314 PC-A16 is standard ATX size .. It has lots of ventilation holes on the CD-ROM bezel .. that's why sniper refers it as very open ... |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Aug 20 2007, 01:06 AM) Doom says doesn't help much wor.. due to the restrictive holes. Wait for him to come in and elaborate lor. Cut out the mesh thingy at the back lar. Then u haf a nice unrestricted exhaust at the back. But I think the evercoll is enuf d coz it's basically teh same thing just look ugly in the black plastic instead of alu like LL.I was thinking of the getting the BS-03 |

The restriction is not just the holes at the back but also the small gap for the fan to move air inside the duct itself. |

Oredi ordered the BS03 might as well try lor. U'll be surprised that teh BS03 actually moves a decent amount of air as it is. Even the older style that used the blower fan moves a decent amount of air. |

ultra positive air pressure sometime work negatively, beware of that........ u need to make sure that the air exhausted fast enough to get rid of hot air within, if not it will just keep on circulating only.......
speaking or a70 i would love to get that too............ wander if can do reverse ATX on that too............. |

Yeah.. thought of that too. Ever since my first rig, I've always been a negative pressure person but I think in such confined space...have to give positive pressure a shot. Brute force approach to cooling.The main challenge is there's no real way of greatly improving the exhaust without ruining the overall look of the case. So far I thought of the following.. 1) Do up a conical diffuser inside the front bezel to smoothen the air coming from the front exhaust... should help with resonance/accoustics too. Or just a piece of Paxmate so it doesn't sound like air hitting bare metal. 2) Instead of using the 5" and 3" bezel clips... chop them off and mount the empty bezel cover onto the front panel instead. And do a divider on the inner part of the front panel to prevent exhaust fan from entering the case via the empty drives on top. Even if the above works... the results should be minimal at best This post has been edited by sniper on the roof: Aug 20 2007, 05:23 PM |
