hahhaha ,,, just a wild guess mah .. since it looks pretty similar at the first look ,,
of course it isn't since the smallest xigmatek cooler is around 9 cm ++ definitely not small enough to fit in ... |

Rejoining the Ah Lian club after such a long time....
Have already migrated from the Akasa Eclipse62 to .... PC-A05B Downsizing ... boh pien. Some thoughts about the PC-A05B Pros: - Sexy giler - Good cooling for CPU. Running my Ultra 120 fanless now - Relatively cheap - Very quiet after swapping the stock fans with Scythe S-Flex - Thin panels but no vibration thanks to those plastic stubs and those thin metal bouncing thingy (don't know what you call it) that holds the sidepanels. - Did I say it's SEXAAAAYYYY? Cons: - The side panel is really ridiculously thin. I think 0.8mm alu. Lian Li these days really cost down - Gets very toasty for the VGA. Oven in disguise. - HDD's gets very toasty as hot air is exhaust out via the HDD's. - Front exhaust are quite restricted hence another exhaust is needed to rid the hot air fast enough... something like a blower or Lian Li's patent fan Tidbits: - At default, the case is running positive air pressure - Front panel are 1.2mm alu Edited to reflect recent discoveries. QUOTE(evilnickwong @ Aug 19 2007, 11:15 AM) Ah you finally decided eh. I got my S-flex's from NSX_MY... Taipei selling around RM65.Not bad, can buy high-end S-Flex fans too lol, how much did those cost over at Taiwan? Isn't there a intake vent right next to the VGA area? Right now playing with some ducting to improve the CPU temps.... at stock it hits 81C on TAT which is a lil too toasty Probably will get the side fan next week for the vga lor. Edit: Some findings... - Adding a duct (non-airtight.. no camera now) to direct air from rear intake to heatsink gives about 5-6C reduction in TAT load temps. - The PC-A05 by itself is positive air pressure. It could use another exhaust somewhere. This post has been edited by sniper on the roof: Aug 19 2007, 03:46 PM |

Got back the camera so it's pic time.
1) Some prerequisite frontal... so sexy ![]() 2) The biggest sell point (for me at least) and also the biggest issue is the black box look. This means that while the rear intake is pretty good, its front exhaust is quite seriously restrictive and could use all the help it can get. While some folks on the web tape the gap between the empty 3" and 5" bay covers to prevent the hot air from recycling inside.... you can also use the packing styro foam instead. It's free.... it's easy to work with.. it takes just 5 seconds. ![]() 3) Here you see the gaps filled. ![]() 4) The ugly side. I love my Seasonic S12 to death but the damn cables are just crazy ![]() 5) The obligatory full monty shot. I used a cheapo evercool blower as a stop gap measure to take care of the exhaust problem. This translate to a 8C reduction in VGA temps. Also my ghetto duct fashion from a plastic folder file from rear intake to the now fanless Ultra 120 --> Duct vs no duct = 6C reduction in TAT load temps. ![]() Edit: Madman... the Akasa have to sit in basement until find new owner lor. QUOTE(sniper69 @ Aug 20 2007, 12:17 AM) @sniper I was chatting with NSX_MY about the very same topic....nice cable management job The cons of the PC-A05B is that the vga area is .... an oven in disguise. So definately have to find some sort of exhaust for that area.. either side panel fan like Doom or at least a blower. |

Yah ... I'm back.. .
this is the whole scenario .. BS-03 can be used either for exhaust or intake air under the condition the graphic card isn't using blower type that exhaust to the rear side of the case such as 8800GST, GTX, Ultra and 2900XT.. the hot air would be suck back to the case by the side patent fan if it's configured to intake .. If it's adjusted to exhaust, it doesn't do much good coz the vent holes are too restrictive for air to exhaust .. beside there's already lack of air at the gc zone .. so what's the point of having another exhaust fan. As for BS-02 .. it only works when there's vent holes at the side panel as that's where the case fan could draw air from. If it's configured to intake it would cool off the gc very much by 5c for core and all the memory and capasistor as well. This is under the condition the gc is using blower type of cooler that exhaust at the end of the case so that hot air could be pushed out from the case. However it leads to dust accumulation. Basically, if use long vga card and full complement of HDD's... this means the exhaust area (marked A) is very restricted. Some air (marked B) will from the rear intake will still be pulled up due to the VGA fan pulling it in but when it's exhausted....I think it'll sorta get stuck on top (marked C) . My top panel does feel kinda warm Anyway, I won't be using a BS-02 side panel fan cos I don't wanna ruin the black box look But I do agree.... need another fan on top be it intake or exhaust. ( Intake will cool VGA by the air's velocity while exhaust should ease the case temps) |
