My house is few hundreds meters away from blue coverage in map. The modem led are facing they area as well. Today stable about 30mbps at the moment still. Hope it helps

Hi guys, wanna confirm a few things regarding unifi air..

I used the coverage map to confirm if my house got covered or not but unfortunately it didn't not. I read this topic and stumble across that we could use unifi bebas prepaid to check accurately coz the map somehow is inaccurate

So got my bebas prepaid, and to my suprise I got lte+band 40 on my phone. The speed is around 8mbps tho, but i read that tm actually capped the unifi bebas to around that speed

Currently using streamyx 8mbps. Shud I get unifi air?
*
If u manage to get 8mbps in your prepaid, most likely, u can get the same speed in unifi air. Unifi bebas speed is capped when you are using unlimited pass, otherwise shd be full speed.
Btw, u can subscribe unifi air without contract, if the speed is not up to expectations then just terminate it.

That bebas monthly complimentary given coz of pkp might be the reason why the speed is capped on 8mbps. So to test the estimate full speed, shud I buy the high speed addon one?

I dun have a modem that could hold the sim, buying a new one cost quite high. So I'm thinking on getting the 2 years contract with the router one instead of the no contract sim only package.

That's why i need to know as much as I can before subscribing to this unifi air. Thanx!
*
Friend, u can put the unifi air sim into your hand phone and test the speed on various locations before committed to 24 months contract. It was what i did last year. From my finding, unifi air is slow but stable at my area. After 1 month, i went to TM point and cancelled my plan. I got back my $$$ after 2-3 months. They bank into my account directly.
Btw... 1 modem just cost ard rm250. Worth for a try/buy.

I see, do u need to pay the rm100 (upfront payment) when u first subscribe to the sim only package? Tbf, the router+sim package actually have the 30days-trial return policy, tho I need to pay the upfront payment first. What I didn't quite sure is whether I would get the rm100 back or it would be burned just like that if I were to return the modem within 30-days using the policy. I tried asking the tm agent I'm dealing with on wa, the answer she gave was quite ambiguous, but I'm 70% sure she said that I wouldn't get back that payment. Weird.

Also, I thought existing streamyx user didn't need to pay the upfront payment. Not in my case tho, got told that the promo had already ended so need to pay. Anyone knows whether this is true?
*
The rm100 is upfront payment, and unifi air always need to pay in advance. When u terminate your line, they will pro-rate based on your usage and return your balance to you.

Oh? So if I were to terminate lets say after I used 30 days. They will deduct the bill based on my usage on that 30 days? Unifi air now is rm79/month right? So wouldn't it be that I would get back the remaining rm21 from the upfront I paid earlier?

Didn't quite understand the upfront thing, so I'm sorry if somehow I asked a simple question here. Thanks!
*
Less than rm21, rm79 per month is not incluced the SST yet.

Thx for the advice, I know that as well but strangely with the poor upload speed with no more than 0.4mbps from streamyx, I'm still able to zoom meeting quite ok. So I assumes that it couldn't be worse if I switch to other telco?
*
Hard to tell, like my house, unfi mobile is more stable than other telco but downside is... speed is around 6 to 8 mbps.
Digi totally can not move, same goes to umobile. Maxis and celcom is good but no stable. Maybe due to congestion.

Hi there good guy, I am using Samsung Galaxy A8 star.
So based on your story, Unifi Air is using frequency band 5, 38 & 40, and my Huawei B315S-22 is not compatible because it is only at 32?
https://pictr.com/images/2020/05/27/75ep9P.md.png
Any recommended router for Unifi Air?
*
Why not take the sim + device plan. Same price but contract for 24 months. The modem is the best modem in the market already.

Yup correct. I myself regretted already only taking the sim card, not with the B618-65d. Try to reapply at TM Point Unifi Air package with modem, but most place don't have stock 😔
*
Then just buy 1 4g modem from lazada or shoppee lo. Price shd be ard rm250 ++. I'm using this brand now ( Tenda or Prolink), so far so good . Just the speed is not as fast as Huawei b618. But I'm satisfied overall.

is it huawei B310 the modem?
*
No... The brand I'm using now is tenda and prolink.
Local warranty, MCMC certified, this is my main concern.

Hi all, I would like to try unifi air but im at an area which is a few hundred meter off the official coverage. Can I subscribe the sim only and test it on my phone? Or do I need a modem to test?
*
U can test at your phone provided the band is supported

Just want to ask anyone here, I am planning to subscribe to Unifi Air but they keep insisting that my area have no coverage.
I have been stuck with 4 Mbps Screamyx which is a torture for me and I do hope I get the upgrade to Unifi Air.
I have tested my area with my Note10+ and iPad Pro and yes my area already have Band 40 activated this month.
So I can get a really fast speed up to 80 Mbps in the morning, but they keep saying I cannot upgrade to it due to no coverage.
So how I can solve this?
I should have no problem to subscribe to Unifi Air rite?
Seriously I cannot stand that 4 Mbps sampahmyx speed anymore.
*
Just get 1 unifi air sim only and test it out. U may terminate it anytime u like. Just rugi few bucks. If the speed is ok, u can purchase the 4g modem by yourself or ask tm whether u can convert your plan to device bundle or not.

I ald ask about converting a SIM only plan to bundle, but not possible.
Need to cancel first and subscribe to bundle after that.
Why so hassle to subscribe to their service?

Anyway just want to ask, if I get a stable service via unifi mobile BEBAS at 8 Mbps fixed constantly connected to band 40 2CA, is it good enough to subscribe to unifi Air device bundle directly?
So hassle to subscribe and unsubscribe the service many times.
*
Your chance of getting the same speed is high, worth for a try. If I wanna subscribe unifi air now, I would opt for contract fee, since the modem given now is much cheaper.

Ald subscribed.
SIM only.
Quite fast.
And more than 10 times faster than my sampahmyx.
If it is this good, I will cancel it immediately.

Now currently hotspot from my iPad Pro.

Anyway should I get a contract with modem from TM or buy the modem myself?
*
Wow... amazing speed, much better than my maxshit fiber.

My one is 4g680 version 1. Speed not fast, just 6 to 10+ Mbps ( my area problem), but stable.
