This I not so sure but so far reviews say it's good. Only downside is heat and lower battery life compared to Intel (by more than 1 hour according to some forums).

This is true...

But if can get cheap, then it's worth it.

Will it heat? How does the battery life perform?

Yeah many reviews for ryzen say it's hot. Also expect battery life lower compared to Intel. Saw on one forum it say by 1 hour and a half. But this Thinkpad can buy 65W charger for fast charging.

But look cool for X series laptop.
It’s pretty good

Tbh, I don't like x series.

I want to user replace ram, ssd and battery.

T series is ideal for me, more room for air flow too.

Yeap and so far reviews quite okay. Even the Thinkpad subreddit a lot going for the T495 or X395 version of the series instead of Intel.

"Everyone on here who gets a T49X gets the T495 instead of the T490 or T490S. Don't blame them, Ryzen is sweet." -r/thinkpad

Heat is fine as long as cpu don't go below base clock when under stress.

True, but I see most people just complain about heat and are worried about that, instead of performance.

Waiting for Zen2-based laptop to appear next year. If it brings significant improvement like the desktop counterpart, will definitely buy it.

About par with 8250u.

If this is my purchase, I will topup a bit for R7 3700u though for as the price is only bout RM400 differences with the 45% code. 3700u has a slightly better GPU than 3500u.

I bought a 8250u dell last year for under RM2.5k (with 3 years warranty), thus this 3500u lappy cant quite convince me, may be 3700u will be give the better experience.

The number of generation itself isn't important, it is the performance and value that count.
