Such as ThinkPad all comes with type C port or thunderbolt 3 port.

Just for people info, amd laptop normally don't have thunderbolt port. This is due to some Intel licensing I think. But not big deal for me as I don't use thunderbolt or things like external GPU.

Careful with UPS. Seems their online tracking and delivery attempt is not in sync. My mouse and backpack suppose to come tomorrow but they came today instead. No one at home so I missed it today. They will make another attempt tomorrow.

The wwan card slot can install additional SSD?
If yes, what type?
Nvme? Sata?

What's the max read write speed for the SD card reader?
*
As for wwan not too sure but when order that time they say you must order on the spot. Cannot upgrade in the future so i assume the wwan slot cannot be used.

As for current ssd slot, you can just open the casing and replace the current ssd if you wish to do so. This applies to both x390/x395 and t490/t495.

So my items came yesterday and true enough they sent me 2 each. Am quite happy with that. Packaging is extremely good, they put the mouse in a box and then sealed it with another box. Now just waiting for the main laptop.

What you order ? How come got many big small boxes?

Update mine tomorrow 😝
Heheh, 2 backpacks & hand carry bag with 2 cheap cable mouse lol.
*
Don’t let the boxes fool you. I already said packing damn good. Haha.

This is suppose to be one wireless mouse and one backpack but they sent me two each instead (cause earlier canceled first order to modify my configuration), so total 4 boxes.

Nowadays Lenovo so kiasu used with bigger protection of box to fit with smaller item. 🤣🤣

Anyways I was monitoring the Lenovo sale price. You should check it out today with WEEKEND code, seems my laptop is rm50 cheaper today compared to the Citi 45% off days.

So Lenovo does increase and reduce their laptop prices. They make you seem like you got a deal when actually that is their standard price.

Good idea, max is the way to go to save. also I notice they also tweak the configuration every now and then. For example my starting storage was 128gb, had to upgrade to 256gb, whereas today the starting storage on their site is 256gb instead.

Btw you order from SG, they deliver to Malaysia? Or you have delivery address in SG?

Just want to post this here to show you an apple to apple comparison of the discounts that lenovo offers. Doesn't mean you use the citibank 45% offer you get a better deal. For example today, there is WEEKEND code deal for 26% off. And if you compare with my earlier purchase in above post, you will see today is actually about rm50 cheaper.

Note: don't get me wrong, i am not saying the deal is bad, in fact i will only buy lenovo from now on cause price to value is too good compared to other companies. I am just saying be aware of the way Lenovo prices their laptops and the discounts they offer isn't always too good to be true. Its more that this is the price they intend to sell to you but make you belief that you are saving a lot of money.

Just saw a Reddit post with someone getting his x395
The ram is running dual channel.

Now I just wish the stupid Lenovo sales and billing team would quickly settle my payment issue.
*
yeah i saw something similar. i always thought dual channel requires 2 sticks, but seems nowadays 1 stick also can run dual channel. i rather get proper technical information about this rather than believe someone on reddit about it if you intend to have dual channel. a lot of misinformation online these days.

I think that DD4 all comes with dual channels, except DD3 2133mhz.
*
QUOTE(Jackie-Cham @ Aug 10 2019, 04:11 PM)
From what I know, 1 stick is single channel, 2 stick is dual channel.
It doubles the bandwidth.

Imagine single channel as 1 straw and dual channel as 2 straws.
The speed is how fast you can drink from the straw.
2 straws makes a big difference.
*
QUOTE(Benefon @ Aug 10 2019, 04:15 PM)
Maybe is due to your configuration.
Let say 8gb = single channel
Add on 16gb = double channels
Both are onboard
*
QUOTE(Jackie-Cham @ Aug 10 2019, 04:34 PM)
I'm thinking they use 2x 8GB
But I'll check when it arrives.. if it arrives.
*
Now i think he is talking about x395 which only have 1 ram slot. so we all know dual channel requires 2 ram slot to work. so the questions is "is x395 with 1 ram slot, able to run dual channel?". I am also wondering about this.

The answer is here.
https://www.laptopmain.com/thinkpad-x390-review/

ThinkPad X390 has dual channel 8gb of Ram.
*
QUOTE(Benefon @ Aug 10 2019, 08:36 PM)
X395 does not had additional slot for you to add on in future.
That’s is soldered onboard.
*
"What’s more, the ThinkPad X390 comes with two 8GB DDR4 memory chips with the dual passage."

This makes sense. All this while i thought it was 1 ram stick. So X390/395 actually has 2 ram sticks soldered in the laptop for dual channel.

Actually 8gb of ram is consider more than enough, I don’t think that everyone needs 16gb for multitasking.
Recent ssd speed good than enough to handle for opening more software at same time.

If you can please try to adding 8gb so total up = 16gb, good for future purposes
*
Yeah, I always recommend my friends minimum 8gb. More ram comes in handy when you use chrome and have 100 tabs open. More ram you have, better the laptop handles the opened tabs on chrome.

And with the lenovo prices, they are too darn cheap compared to other companies so makes sense getting 16gb because they price it so affordable.

I don't get it. These 2 quotations of t495 r from the same place? And 26% off is cheaper than 45% off?
*
Yes from the lenovo website itself.

For example you will notice one day the T495 base price will start at rm4000 but they offer you 45% off (so means starting RM2200). Another day they will offer base price at rm3000 but offer you 25% off (so means starting RM2250).

But the main point here in both circumstances, the real “actual” price is actually closer to RM2200-2250.

Nonetheless, what lenovo offers in terms of price to value is still better than the competition. You just have to be “informed” about their pricing techniques.

I did a little check myself.

With Citi promo, price without discount (for my selected specs) is 5.8k
With weekend promo, price without discount (same specs) is 4.7k

So yes, they are playing around with the base config prices based on discounts.
Upgrades are the same price, so if you don't upgrade much from base specs, you will save a little compared to the Citi discount.
*
Yeap, if you checkout reddit.com/r/thinkpads and do a search on “sale” or “pricing”, you can see few threads where others have noticed this too and also complain about it. To me I think it’s fine and part of lenovo’s selling strategy.

My shipping is still same but funny enough my arrival date is 2 days earlier now. I will update with pic once it has "shipped" which should be today.

This is the longest wait but seriously can't wait for it. Have to say Trump will lose the trade war with these type of Chinese prices on goods.
