Can someone recommend a good set of tools for beginner to start with? What brand should I look for on Shopee Lazada?

You dont need super expensive Japan brand like Godhand. Just China/Taiwan is suffice enough.
Go for either 9Sea, Manwah, Dspiae, and Hobby Mio brand.

Basic tool is
-hobby side nipper(narrow thin tip)
-cutting map(optional but useful if you want to cut decal or masking tape)
-metal file for sanding
-sanding sponge (3M brand is good)
-hobby knife
-Mr.Mark Setter- used on waterslide decal, helps decal stick better on surface
-Masking tape- only if you painted the kit
-Panel line pen. Either 0.3mm tip is enough
-Gundam Marker pen. Partial painting details, really help making kit looks better. You dont need to paint whole kit.

Thx for the list, roughly how much will all the must have tools cost me? Is there a good combo gunpla tool kit to buy? Really tiring trying to hunt down the best deals for so many items on Shopee, not to mention limited free shipping vouchers haha

I already have RG Nu and RG Sazabi on the way. Maybe gonna grab an EG to practice on first.

Nipper Rm45 - 50
Hobby knife Rm15 - 30
Metal File Rm20
Sanding sponge Rm10 - 25
Mr.Mark Setter Rm20
Panel line Pen Rm5 - 15
Gundam Marker Pen Rm10 - 50

Beginner just buy nipper & hobby knife.
Sandpaper just buy at hardware shop, Rm2 - 5. Grade 400,600,800,1000. You don't need to buy all at once. Slow upgrade else you will feel burden when starting this hobby.

When I started this hobby I only buy the very basic set. Bandai hobby tool set cost Rm40 13 years back.

Is it ok if I use Pour Type Gray Gundam Marker to panel line the RG Nu? Can use what to erase mistakes?

User the following,

1. Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color (Gray)
2. Tamiya Enamel Thinner x20

Tamiya enamel thinner find smallest bottle you can find. Use ear cotton buds dip it to clean up excess panel line. Can watch youtube how to use the panel line accent color.

I am worried because reddit says Tamiya Panel Line will corrode bare plastic and they suggest to use pour type gundam marker instead
https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunpla/comments/a2...with_a_warning/

btw am i supposed to panel line before or after assembly?

Yes if put too much amount of panel line and soak it might have this problem. Use as little as much possible for thin and clean line. Don't worry too much actually do try hands on and experience yourself.

Oh nothing wrong, just wanted to ask some questions about their shipping. Already asked them directly and settled. Thanks anyway.

Hi, I bought the nanye single sided nipper. Do I still need to get the cheap plato 170 nipper for first cut and use nanye for 2nd cut only? Or can I do both cuts with the nanye nippers?

Straight away use the Nanye nipper. You don't need those Plato nipper.
