My HJC doens't come with a sirim sticker. Its an official import from local HJC distributor. Most wont give a rat's ass to the pretty useless sirim sticker. Unless you are talking about the lowest end of the bunch. The free xdot helmet I got from my driving school had a sirim sticker. Which do you think I feel safer wearing? LOL lowpro liked this post

Do we still require sirim certification? I thought jpj can also accept ece22.05 right?

To be frank, Kastam officer will inspect for it, and maybe write a notice for pay tax. Is difficult becoz is a safety device. Eventhough ECE certified, also need JPJ lulus.
These days, buy from Shopee overseas, can get really really low grade helmet that pass for motorcycle use. Buyers beware la. |

I know some not approved here are DOT (US), SNI (Indonesia), which I think was the original huha on the topic, as some ppl tried to bring in Indonesian KYT models to Malaysia |

Can't seem to recall where I read this but I remember seeing something about insurance claim issue should you get involved in an accident with a helmet that's not sirim certified, don't quote me for this though.

QUOTE(basilisk @ Mar 7 2024, 09:12 PM) got ece shud be able to get if kena tahan. When I saw that banner during my last return flight, I asked the officer if I were to bring my own helmet overseas and back then how. They said you need to declare it when you leave the country that you're bringing a helmet overseas, then when you return you need to show them the declaration. Not sure exactly what form though but she said the procedure is something like this.they will tell you what to do. u then go jpj to get approval, if approved , u go bek to kastam to collect it. try to make it looks like u bawak frm msia, disguise it as used helmet, pack it with other biking gears, to show u go there to sewa bike to tour.. take foto wearing the helmet with motor in thailand show to kastam fler. choose the right time to arrive, dun balik time d fler got nothing to do.. So if you were to purchase a helmet overseas and pretend you brought it from Malaysia, they may not buy your story. |

From experience: Bring the sales invoice of the helmet (clearly stated the model and price date purchase) from MY sourced seller. Then Find the Custom booth in point of Departure, (KLIA or KLIA2) Ask them to record the helmet show the invoice and get the receipt (form) of acknowledgement that the helmet indeed for personal use. This brings to the problem if your flight is during odd hours then chances the kastam booth is closed, you might need to go to the arrival section and speak with the kastam officers who manned the arrival checkpoint for this helmet registration.
