Hello again, thank you sifus for suggesting my brother's laptop before, he's happy with it! But now I'm seeking another recommendations and suggestions for a laptop that I will be using for work.

1. Budget : Below RM 3,000 (budget given by company sadly)
2. Usage : Office usage, Photo manipulations, Graphic works such illustrator, PS, and inDesign (no 3D rendering)

3. Requirements :
i) Display : 14" to 15", bigger would nice but isn't necessary
ii) Battery life: about 4-5 hours
iii) Ram : 8GB or (Upgradable to 16GB)
iv) Storage : SSD + 1 TB HDD
v) Weight : Any

I know within the budget is hard to get a good laptop for creative works but trying to seek the best I can get.

Thank you

He got SF315-51?

Need high sRGB display? Mind non-upgradeable 8GB RAM?

Choose model not brand

Looks like you need gaming laptop...can consider Illegear Raven / Raven SE or Level51 Forge 15 with 1650 GPU. Maybe Commandos Glock 5 Plus but I haven't test it out yet (based on the previous model it is decent)

I assume that you need decent GPU performance?
Lenovo Thinkpad A485 +RAM: 96Wh battery for best battery life (heavier), HDD or SSD only
Acer Swift 3 SF314-54G-52L8 / 59WJ +RAM
Lenovo Thinkpad E495/E595 +RAM+SSD: OKish battery life
Lenovo Ideapad S540-14API 81NH000MMJ / NMJ: OKish battery life, no HDD
Lenovo Ideapad C340-14API 81N60011MJ / 12MJ: OKish battery life, no HDD
Acer Swift 3 SF314-55G-50AN / 50YA, SF314-55G-547H: non-upgradeable RAM, high sRGB IPS, no HDD
HP Pavilion 15-CS1026TX +RAM+SSD / 15-CS2010TX +RAM: OKish battery life

If you don't mind gaming laptop:
Level51 Forge 15 (promo 16GB RAM): ~3-4 hrs battery life but battery can be swapped easily
Illegear Raven SE: ~4 hrs battery life but with optional larger battery pack (no 2.5 inch slot), manual power limit overwrite

I'm feeling overwhelmed with the amount of info i'm getting on this thread.
So i'll try to cut it short.

Need some advice :

Budget : RM4-6k
i7
min 16GB RAM.
15"
~2kg. (preferable below as i move around quite abit)
Usage : mediocre gaming, some video editing

Whats the difference between i7 8th and 9th gen? if i'm to pay >5k, should i just go for 9th gen instead?

i'm leaning towards Illegear's Prodigy right now. but i would love to know if there are other similar options out there.

Big thanks in advance.

You mean difference between 8750H and 9750H? There are some differences but in short, not that significant. Also pls don't use '8th gen' and '9th gen' - these terms are confusing

Prodigy runs hot

No preference on battery life? Max 2kg weight?

Actually kinda prefer thin and light after much thought. I actually thought Asus had stepped up their game.. So, they're still the same as before?

I will be bringing the laptop around quite often, so I'll want it thin and light.

Level51 Slate-15 - slightly weak CPU cooling
Illegear Onyx Lite
Commandos Katana 5 - weak CPU cooling (tweaked out of the box for better performance though)

Either you get a good unit or a lemon...and if you get lemon, good luck with the RMA

Thermals in GU502 aren't that good (barely OK even after tweaking)

Max weight preferred in kg? No preference on battery life?

Didn't realize that you asked before lol

Illegear Onyx 63Wh
Level51 Slate-15 - slightly weak CPU cooling

Maybe Lenovo Legion Y740 15 81HE007EMJ but very hard to stretch battery life to 5 hrs

And the previous ones: Acer Predator Triton 500 PT515-51-73YN, Aero 15 SA AMOLED
